She might release her new single the weekend before Grammys so she could have something new to perform assuming sheβs asked to perform Hoping this is true and that she was asked to perform which is why we haven't heard anything yet. Am I crazy or was "January" confirmed somewhere though? If it was, her being asked to perform at the Grammy's could have pushed it back so that it is released right before, which would be a smart move for a big first-week. Regardless if she performs at the Grammy's, we all but are guaranteed the single before then. I can't imagine her waiting longer than that.

God this is my most anticipated release in awhile. My Church got me into country music! Her debut is flawless (even the bonus tracks), and I canβt wait to see the direction.

My early thought is its good but not great. I will need more listens. She sounds great and the production is awesome but the chorus is kind of too plain.

I was hoping there would be less cussing on the second album. But that was cleared up right away. The song was decent. Maybe it will grow on me.

I love it. She sounds SO GOOD. Would love to see this crossing over to pop as this doesn't sound too country.
And I'm finally going to see her live. NYC, here I come!

Just adding this. The album is definitely coming out before the 3 year anniversary of Hero (June.) Iβm guessing March before her tour starts? youtu.be/YC5OEGEl4ns

I had to use SeatGeek to buy tickets because AXS didn't have any when I went online 13 minutes after tickets went on sale. I paid about $21 more than the regular price but whatever, it's worth it because it's Maren!

What we know so far:
-Maren's sophomore lead single "Girl" impacted radio on January 17, 2019 under the direction of Columbia Nashville/Sony Music Nashville.
Artist: Maren Morris Writers: Maren Morris, Sarah Aarons, Greg Kurstin Producer: Greg Kurstin
-The music video for "Girl" was officially released on January 24, 2019.
-Official Chart Debuts: Mediabase: #38 Country Airplay: #28 Hot 100: #96
-Production Per Maren's Instagram activity, it appears that Greg Kurstin may serve as the sole producer of MM2, parting ways with busbee following the Hero era.
-Sonic Developments Maren has been rather mum on how she'll proceed musically following the massive success of "The Middle" with Zedd and Grey and duet "Seeing Blind" with Niall Horan, both of which were lauded by the pop community. When asked by fans on whether she'll toe the line between country-pop or dive right into the mainstream scene, husband Ryan Hurd stated via Instagram that, "Everyone asked if she was making a pop record, and she went and made something uniquely Maren."

I have most of Maren's new album (just missing one song and pending final tracklisting decisions) and I have to say it sounds really good. I'm very impressed. "Girl" has grown on me a fair amount since first listen but there are many songs on the new album that I like better. Such as "A Song For Everything", which reminded me slightly of Michelle Branch's "Everything" when the first guitar notes played. I think that will be a big hit on country radio. Really nice relatable lyrics to experiences we go through in life. Anyway, I don't want to spoil anything but just wanted to mention how much I like the new material. Well done, Maren.

I happen to have the demo version of "Common" when it was titled "Way Too Much In Common" and featured only Maren on vocals. I have to be honest, I prefer Maren on vocals throughout the song. The other singer brings the song down a notch for me.
A few more teasers about the album. Keep in mind I don't know what final tracklisting decisions Maren has made so it's not a sure thing all these songs made the cut. But regarding my four favorite songs on the advance album (as of a couple months ago).
"A Song For Everything": The most commercial sounding instant-hit song that everybody should like and will get heavy radio play. A sure-to-be #1 song.
"The Bones": Really like the descriptive lyrics in this one about coming through hard times in love successfully.
"Good Woman": A beautiful slow piano ballad about what being a good and supportive person in a relationship is all about.
"All My Favorite People": Fun song that has a lot of energy and feels like it could be played in the Nashville honky tonk scene.

Okay, so final tracklisting decisions have been made and I got an advance copy of the final draft album. I guess all the songs I had before were demos because these finished versions sound quite a bit different in cases. I can't leak the tracklisting or any more info about other songs. But a couple notes which expand upon things I wrote earlier.
"A Song For Everything": The finished version sounds even better. The old guitar intro (which sounded like Michelle Branch's Everything song) has been removed and replaced by a much more catchy guitar hook. Everyone is gonna love this song.
"Good Woman": Still a slow ballad but other instruments (including strings) have been added to compliment the piano. Very pretty and touching song.
"All My Favorite People": A guest star has been added to this song and they take the second verse. I prefer Maren doing this song solo (as she does on the demo) but I understand why she added who she did.
For all those who don't really like "Girl" or "Common", you can rest assured that there will be plenty of songs on this album that you will like. Maren has done a fantastic job. I like the album so much that it actually motivated me to pick up a ticket to see her when she comes through the area on tour.
Also, a side note that we recently added our rare Maren songs collection to the Other Artists page on The IC.

But, I thought she said at the CMAs that she had turned it in, so maybe not?

It usually takes a couple weeks for stuff to trickle down to me, so that makes sense that she had turned it in a while back. Of course, changes can be made right up to release.
I did notice the track time on iTunes is now listed for Track 12 as being 3:17. That matches my time for "The Bones". But a couple other songs clock in at 3:16. So it could be something else.
