It looks like June and early July may be the busiest time of the year for new music as we will have multiple artists launching new music including big names like Kanye West, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Nicki Minaj, Drake and more. But what damage will these artists have at the Billboard Hot 100?
Here is my opinion and the reason for this thread is make yours:
June 1st is expected to feature a brand new album from Kanye West. Looking at Pusha's "success", expect Kanye to also maybe struggle with this album. This of course is just an opinion but a #1 debut at Billboard 200 earning around 275-400k units seems about it. And for singles off the album, one may takeoff but with the drama over the whole MAGA thing he may struggle on a mainstream-like platform like Spotify, but excel on something more urban based like Apple Music.
June 8th will feature another album from Kanye, however this album is expected to feature new music with Cudi. I expect this album to be the one to take shots at artists, and may even feature throws back at artists like Drake, after Drake's diss, Duppy Freestyle. This would probably be the album to get around 250-385k units.
During that June 1-8th time period anticipate Post Malone to launch his music video for Better Now. This will of course help Better Now and give it a shot for a Top 10 position for June and possibly the whole summer.
June 15th will be the launch of Nas's album. And Nas may have something to possibly proof and become a bigger artist in the US. We will see expect an opening of 90-110k for June 30th on the Billboard 200.
June 20th is the day to expect new music from Ariana Grande. 'The Light Is Coming' is the next single expected off Ariana's new album, Sweetener. And Ariana teased the track and it sounds super fire, it does feature Nicki Minaj. And it may also feature Drake. If Drake is featured it will almost certainly be #1 and Ariana and Nicki's first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This will come out at a crucial time for the Summer Songs chart as well.
June 22nd or 29th are the days to watch for Drake's album, Scorpion. Scorpion should earn between 725-850k units in its first week.
