How there isn't a thread for this? I'm beyond amazed. I particularly love the last minute of this song.
How Shannon wasn't bigger, I'll never understand. Great voice, great grooves.
The follow up to LTMP, this song went to #46 on the Hot 100. Did very well on the dance and R&B charts.

I like it.
Topped the dance chart and hit #6 R&B.

Had it been bigger on the pop charts, it would rival Let The Music Play in my mind. They're both that 80s brand of fierce.

While this song was a big hit on the R&B and dance charts in 1984, it failed to make an impact on the pop charts, which is too bad as this song is every bit a great as "Let the Music Play". When I was younger, I often heard this song as an 80s flashback on B96, which also played "Let the Music Play" as an 80s flashback too. Was also occasionally played during freestyle/old school mix sets as well. One of the best 80s/electro/freestyle dance records. 12 inch version www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca-d8ufmBVM

40 years ago this week, "Give Me Tonight" debuted at #71 on the March 31, 1984 Billboard Hot 100. It was the highest debut that week. American Bandstand: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Give_Me_Tonight#24 UK
