It seems almost obvious now that A Perfect Circle will earn the next Alternative #1 now that Nickelback has currently lost their bullet with "Someday" and they hold a triple-digit bullet.
However, what will be the next single to hit #1 after "Weak and Powerless"?
My prediction is set on (gasp) Trapt's "Still Frame". Then P.O.D's "Will You" and Linkin Park's "Numb" will fight for the following #1 with Linkin Park likely winning the battle.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Looks to me like Trapt will need about 7-8 weeks to reach enough plays to be #1; I think Numb will be around 3000 within 5 weeks.
Other good possibilities for the top of the chart soon are STP, Korn, Hoobastank, and Blink-182. If any of these have instant impact, they could duke it out with LP (and Trapt) in November.
Before we get there, I wouldn't be surprised for Evenescence to get to #2, and if Weak and Powerless turns out to be just that, maybe even #1 (maybe even for less than a full week...)

I just heard the new Korn song today and based on that I can tell you there is no chance in hell that Korn will get to number one. Maybe top ten due to them being Korn but this song will do nothing important and rightfully so. I am aware that Korn is trying to go for their older, rawer sound after the embarassingly funny overproduced Untouchables but this lead single is much worse than their quickie song for an atrocious movie.
I say A Perfect Circle will hold the top spot for three weeks then hand it over to yet another, probably long Linkin Park run. Despite fall competition, I think Linkin Park will once again dominate and hopefully disappear...
Still Frame by another band wouldn't crack the top 30 but thanks to it being the Headstrong follow up I have to endure heavy airplay for the next few months. Great. If the Linkin Park train slows down this will likely take over for a week or so. I'd like to see airplay for Still Frame die down and the White Stripes pass it and stay one position ahead of Trapt en route to another number one. But what are the odds of that?
Has anyone else noticed the new Puddle Of Mudd song? It just comes off that there is no major buzz for this song in this forum. What are they coming off four top 5 smashes? If "Away From Me" is decent I say this gets number one.

Has anyone else noticed the new Puddle Of Mudd song? It just comes off that there is no major buzz for this song in this forum. What are they coming off four top 5 smashes? If "Away From Me" is decent I say this gets number one. First of all, I agree that Korn's "Right Now" will not go that far. I have predicted a #7 peak and I also believe it will topple off very quickly. This is probably the worst single they've released yet, as their originality continues to disappear in my mind. The way "Numb" is rocketing up the chart, there is much reason to believe this will become yet another #1 for the band (washes tongue with soap) I still believe Trapt may get to the top first, even when Linkin Park has a massive bullet, with every single above "Still Frame" either have a loss of bullet or a diminished bullet. This will help sneak Trapt to the top briefly in my mind before Linkin Park dominates for another period of time. The reason "Away With Me" has not gotten any attention yet here is simply because barely anyone has heard the latest from Puddle of Mudd yet. They have four Top-5 hits under their belt already and it is most likely they'll get at least one or two off their next album as well, but this single doesn't go for adds officially until next week and listening will help a lot to determining its fate. Finally, I'd like to add that we can expect Blink-182 to make huge waves on Alternative. Their bullet is already massive and they have had a solid history so far on Alternative with nearly a dozen Top-10 hits. I'm expecting a Top-3 performance with "Feelin' This" Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Or because nobody cares. I was waiting for the pop forum to pick it up.
