I think "Springsteen" and "Record Year" will easily be the top 2. "Talladega" better be nowhere near the top, but tbh it's a good song and I'm just sick of it because it was so overplayed. But then again I guess Eric's big hits have been so consistently overplayed that the overplay effect might not hurt the songs as much in this rankdown. Also, I'm surprised to see all the hate for "Are You Ready For The Country". Like, the song isn't a masterpiece or anything, but y'all know that the "The Only Way I Know" is in this right??? Nothing is as bad as the bro country kings Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan put together in one mediocre stereotype anthem... I went back and forth on "Are You Ready for the Country" versus "The Only Way I Know". No one would rank "The Only Way I Know" that high but maybe some people with floppy taste ( ) might rank "Are You Ready for the Country" high and boost it up...

Also, before this starts, I just have to say that "Roller Coaster Ride" was such an epic discovery for me! That chorus is pure ear candy! Plus the quirky production just plain works, throughout he entire song. How that stayed an album track is beyond me. It's been stuck in my head for several days straight, and I'm not even that big of an Eric Church fan compared to some on Pulse!

I thought nobody really seemed to care the rankdown Direct quote of lyrics from Jason Aldean's part... 31. The Only Way I Know (Jason Aldean ft. Luke Bryan & Eric Church) Maybe there's another path that Will get you there a little bit faster But I'm sticking with the one inside of me Total: 667 Average: 27.79166667 SD : 3.694639674 (Lowest SD!)
Album: Night Train Songwriters: David Lee Murphy, Ben Hayslip Hot 100 peak: 40 Hot Country songs peak: 5 Country Airplay peak: 1
(blue bars are individual ranks and orange line is what would the song's rank be after each submission, red number means the song is tied with another song in points)
Rankdown history: 2013 Country (Rank TBA)
The Only Way I Know is a very underwhelming collaboration. While Eric does seem to be a suitable candidate to sing his parts, the hint of country rap here is a mess and hard to listen to. As you can see this has been the last place for 19 times, so it is doomed to be last place.

I like a few Eric Church songs but not enough to compile a list for this, but I might follow along and see how things go.
I don't like "That's The Only Way I Know" either and I'm not surprised it came in last. It wouldn't have been last for me, but it's not very good IMO and seeing it come in last wasn't a shock in the least.

Unpopular opinion: I actually don’t mind “The Only Way I Know.” The worst part of the song is Luke but other than that I really like this effort from Jason and Eric. My favorite part of the song has always been the Don’t back up, don’t back down..full throttle, wide open line.

30. Are You Ready for the Country? (Hank Williams Jr. ft. Eric Church) Talkin' to the preacher, said God is on your side A-talkin' to the pushers; they both are sellin' at highs Well, I gotta tell the story; I don't know the reason why
Total: 640
Average: 26.66666667 SD : 5.700241541 (3rd Lowest SD!)
Album: It's About Time Songwriters: Neil Young Country Airplay peak: 46 Are You Ready for the Country? is so disappointing. Although it has traditional country instrumentation, the message of this song is fluff. Basically claiming themselves as representation of country (at least in this version), and not much else. I don't really care that it is a pseudo cover of Waylon Jenning's cover of Neil Young's. While this song escaped the last place, it is also destined to be second last place most of the time. Condolence to Sambalada for losing a Top 10 here.

That's it for today to reveal most popular bottom two votes. Hints for next 4 reveal (not in order):

This is off to a great start so far!!! Seeing "The Only Way I Know" leave immediately is just about all I wanted in life! I'm glad I didn't look like a fool for thinking that "Are You Ready For The Country" deserved to outlast it I may have put AYRFTC in my top 20, but I'm not disappointed to see it leave so soon. It's not one I ever go out of my way to listen to or anything.

It's ironic that I just heard Are You Ready For The Country? on Sirius a little while ago.

Great bottom 2. My 31 is still in and will likely last for a bit longer but that was to be expected. These two songs are almost as bad and I’m more than fine being gone now

"And the haters gonna hate" is part of the lyrics from Shake It Off and also from the following song... 29. The Outsiders
Our backs to the wall A band of brothers Together, alone, the Outsiders
Total: 573 Average: 23.875 SD: 8.774035312 (5th Highest SD!)
Album: The Outsiders Songwriters: Eric Church, Casey Beathard Hot 100 peak: 59 Hot Country songs peak: 6 Country Airplay peak: 25
Rankdown history: 2014 Country - 70Certainly not a fan of The Outsiders. While I get the song is dedicated for his fans and image building, the hard rocking in this song is extremely tacky, full of bluffs and has no meat.

"The Outsiders" is positively atrocious. I'm glad to see it kicked to the curb swiftly.

Whew thank goodness. Thought I might have to wait a little bit longer to see this trash put out on the side of the road. It’s so unbelievably bad and really the only Eric Church song I actively rooted against when it was released.
This is the perfect bottom 3 (albeit out of order, but I’ll take it). Good job, Pulse!

I don't actually dislike "The Outsiders" the way I feel like I should... I think it is a terrible song for country radio, but as an artistic statement I can honestly kinda understand it. The musical arrangement is super cool, and lots of incredible artistic talent clearly went into this track, at least on the part of the studio musicians. Not shocked or disappointed to see it leaving now, because it was a terrible single, but I can actually dig it when I'm in the right mood!

That is a great way to put how I feel about this song as well. I agree it was a terrible single but it definitely has its redeeming qualities and as its own thing is really good. I do kinda wish it had done a little better but I understand why it didn't. Though can "Cold One" PLEASE leave soon. That has to be one of the only singles of his I don't like one bit

Up next a non-single with three Top 10 ranks and two last place ranks will be eliminated. Any guesses on what might it be?

Maybe "Keep On"? I can't really see any other album tracks having multiple last-place rankings...

I think this one's gonna be "That's Damn Rock and Roll".
...and it'll be my fault.

It is a Gibson guitar. That's Damn Rock & Roll isn't as bad as The Outsiders, but I still find it too fluffy. And I am not fond of that rap part. Maybe he shouldn't be acting this way. Not the type of rock that I would want to hear from him.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that song. The classic rock elements were pretty well done. I found it to be pleasant enough, but this is an acceptable time for it to leave.

#27 is tied with #28 in points, but it received a Top 5 rank and thus broke the tie. Someone's #31 will be eliminated too.

He is taking her by the hand. Raise 'Em Up is about the different objects can be raised (literally and figuratively), even involving American Dream. To me it sounds like early country pop songs that Keith Urban used to make, which actually have some country feelings. But it is quite forgettable when compared to rest of the songs in the list.

With that all Eric's features are eliminated, which is normal in artist rankdown. The last song to be revealed today has two Top 5 ranks, four Top 10 ranks and no last place ranks, which is the first among the songs revealed so far.

Yeeeessss, bye trash!!! "Raise 'Em Up" is quite possibly the most boring song I have ever heard. I literally cringe when it comes on the radio, which is still does WAY too much to this day....
