Ariana Grande Scores Second Streaming Songs No. 1 Debut With '7 Rings' 1/28/2019 by Kevin Rutherford
The song logs the second-largest streaming week for a woman. Concurrent with her No. 1 launch atop the Billboard Hot 100, Ariana Grande debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Streaming Songs chart dated Feb. 2 with "7 Rings." The song, Grande's third release from her upcoming album Thank U, Next, crowns the list with 85.3 million first-week U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 24, according to Nielsen Music.
The sum is the largest since Grande's own "Thank U, Next" scored 93.8 million, as reflected on the Dec. 15, 2018-dated chart following the release of its official video.
"Rings" gives Grande the 10th-biggest streaming week ever and the second-best sum for a woman, after "Next." It narrowly tops Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do," which racked up 84.5 million (Sept. 16, 2017). Top Streaming Weeks by Women (U.S. Streams) 93.8 million, "Thank U, Next," Ariana Grande (Dec. 15, 2018) 85.3 million, "7 Rings," Ariana Grande (Feb. 2, 2019) 84.5 million, "Look What You Made Me Do," Taylor Swift (Sept. 16, 2017) 63.4 million, "Thank U, Next," Ariana Grande (Nov. 24, 2018) 61.6 million, "Hello," Adele (Nov. 14, 2015)
Drake boasts the greatest streaming week by any artist: 116.1 million for "In My Feelings" (July 28, 2018). Grande has now earned two No. 1s, both of which have debuted on top, on Streaming Songs. "Next" started atop the Nov. 17-dated chart and led for seven weeks; it currently ranks at No. 5 with 31 million domestic clicks.
Grande becomes just the second woman to score a pair of debuts atop Streaming Songs in the list's six-year history, joining Swift, whose "Blank Space" and "Look" launched at No. 1 in 2014 and 2017, respectively.
Though the success of "Rings" is attributable in part to its official video, released alongside the song's premiere Jan. 18, it also performed well in its first week on on-demand audio streaming services. The track debuts atop the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart with 54.6 million of its streams attributed to such platforms, marking the sixth-best week in the chart's history and the best by a woman, passing "Next" (43 million; Nov 24); Drake's "God's Plan" is the overall record holder (68 million; Feb. 3).
"Rings" is Grande's third On-Demand Songs No. 1, following "Next" and "Bang Bang," the latter with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, in 2014.

Ariana Grande's Entire 'Thank U, Next' Album Lands in Top Half of Streaming Songs Chart
2/19/2019 by Kevin Rutherford
Led by “7 Rings,” each of the songs from the 12-track album make the top 24.
Ariana Grande didn’t just launch the entirety of her new album Thank U, Next onto Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart dated Feb. 23; each of the songs are in the ranking’s top half.
Led by pre-album-release single “7 Rings,” the 12-song Thank U, Next storms Streaming Songs, snagging the chart’s top three spots, five of the top 10 and securing its entire track list within the top 24 of the 50-position chart.
It’s the first time the entirety of a Grande album makes Streaming Songs. Previous album Sweetener saw seven of its 15 songs on the list, paced by the No. 5 debut and peak of lead single “No Tears Left to Cry” (May 8, 2018).
But Grande’s star has risen since Sweetener, coupled with the new LP’s early-in-the-year release, when fewer full-lengths are being put into the market just yet. Plus, as previously reported, the album has the biggest streaming week for a pop album in history, with 228,000 of its 360,000 total units coming via streams, translating to 307 million on-demand audio streams in its debut week, according to Nielsen Music.
The Feb. 23-dated Streaming Songs chart marks the first instance in which Grande earns each of the top three spots on the list, as well as her first time with the top two. She’s also the maiden woman and pop artist to accomplish the feat; previously, Drake earned the top three on the July 14, 2018-dated tally, while Lil Wayne followed on the Oct. 13, 2018, list. (Wayne, in all, held the top five and six of the top 10 on that tally, while Drake scored the top eight and nine of the top 10).
Grande having five songs in the chart’s top 10 also makes her the only pop artist to do so in the chart’s history and the second woman, following Cardi B on the Jan. 20 and Jan. 27, 2018, tallies.
The full rundown:
No. 1, “7 Rings” (63.5 million streams) No. 2, “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” (59.2 million) No. 3, “Thank U, Next” (36.8 million) No. 8, “Needy” (28.6 million) No. 9, “NASA” (27.5 million) No. 15, “Bloodline” (24 million) No. 16, “Fake Smile” (22.6 million) No. 17, “Bad Idea” (22.6 million) No. 18, “Ghostin” (22.3 million) No. 19, “Imagine” (21.6 million) No. 22, “In My Head” (19 million) No. 24, “Make Up” (17 million)
When factoring in on-demand audio streams only for the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart dated Feb. 23, Grande holds the top six spots and nine of the top 10. Only Drake (10, July 14, 2018), Post Malone (nine, May 12, 2018) and Kendrick Lamar (nine, May 6, 2017) have previously accomplished the latter feat.
Her streaming start helps Grande to break the record for the most simultaneously top 40 Billboard Hot 100 appearances by a woman.

I wonder how many of OTR's streams are from memes and re-uploads on Youtube. Looks like it might be as much as 1/4 of the total.

HDD's streaming chart had a figure of 54,591,867 for OTR. That would mean that the remaining 70,61M must come basically from Youtube. That's very unlikely without several versions collecting views and listens.

That's very unlikely without several versions collecting views and listens. Only about 38.5M of the (worldwide) Youtube views are from the versions of OTR that are on Lil Nas X's channel, so yeah, there must be a lot of other versions floating around.

I don't really get where all these streams are coming from.. like really. HDD shows less than 40M audio streams, and the week-on-week decline is 15%
