Dionne Warwick cover from 1968's Aretha Now. Peaked at #10 on the Hot 100 and #3 R&B.
This came to be when she and her backing singers were fooling around singing it in the studio, and her label decided to have her record a studio version because they liked the way it sounded. While Dionne's was initially the bigger Hot 100 hit, I feel like this is moreso associated with Aretha now.

I love Dionne's version, but Aretha's is the one I always go back to. She made it her own in a way that was absolutely incredible.

It wasn't until years later that I found out this was a cover. I've been familiar with Aretha's version all my life and I adore it needless to say.

I agree. I had no idea this was a cover! I guess the rumors are true. Once Aretha got a hold of a song it was hers! This is one of my all time fav songs.
