"Cut to the Feeling" was excellent, but this one shows a bit of a different side and shows her branching out thematically. I agree, CTTF just happens to be more in the lane of pop I enjoy most. I feel the same, but for this song vs CTTF - which I didn't really love.

lmfao
She came so hard. This is literally so good. It makes every other new release this year look embarrassing.

"She came so hard". Intended? No. Well, the double meaning works perfectly.

CRJ serves another bop. I've seen a lot of "not my favorite Carly song", and idk if it's my favorite either, but it's an excellent pop song. It's moody but euphoric and anthemic, and I am 100% here for this. Glad an album is following next year too.
Possibly my favorite pop song of the year? Idk what could top this.

The music video is easily my second favorite music video of the year. (Nothing is topping "This Is America.") It serves so many moods.
Concierge so sick of her job she just face plants into a loaf of bread? - Mood Carly immediately stripping down to her underwear and grabbing a vodka after entering her hotel room? - Mood Man bathing in pasta? - Mood Screaming when the power goes out? - Mood A bunch of lonely people gathering together and celebrating their loneliness? - Mood Granny swinging a double ended dildo around like a helicopter? - Well, that's new to me, but I'm sure someone else felt that mood.
The video perfectly captures the Carly vibe the "Call Me Maybe" music video so beautifully introduced us to and what "I Really Like You" failed so hard to replicate. Maybe because this was much less forced and calculated than the IRLY video, which was clearly an attempt at trying to make a viral video.
Song wise, I first heard it while watching the video (sitting on the toilet because I have no life), and I have to admit, the video far surpasses the song for me on first listen/watch. But once I got my ass off the toilet and hopped in the shower to start my day, that chorus just stuck on me like an evasive little earworm. There's no doubt in my mind this is an absolute grower and I'll be bopping to this hardcore in a few weeks/months just like "Call Me Maybe" did for me.
Success wise... god, I have no idea. I'm convinced E•MO•TION gathered her a strong cult following, and that seems to be evidenced by how this is performing on iTunes. It's a Thursday release from Carly Rae Jepsen of all people and it's #14. (It'll get to at least #12 real soon as "Thriller" and "Monster Mash" crash below it.) So that's great, but I'm worried it will be short lived as her cult eats up the new release. The good news is she's scheduled to perform this on The Tonight Show on November 5, so promo is already lined up! (Still waiting on a damn adds date, though.) I don't foresee this turning into a big smash or anything, but there is some sort of possibility this could put her name back in the mainstream spotlight. Please for the love of pop god let her have some sort of success this era. She's deserves it.

It’s catchy and I like it but whoever did the vocal mixing should be fired.

Fantastic pop song once again. The chorus is extremely infectious as always, she just gets it. I wouldn't call it my favorite CRJ song either, but that's not saying much considering what other masterpieces exist in her discography. Bop.
Oh and the video is a fun watch too!

^^^ YES, “catchy without being forced”.
While it’s not that I “love” this as much as Cut to the Feeling, CTTF is...intense. It’s a “lot” to listen to. You can listen to Party For One in a larger variety of moods and contexts.
I also just love the melody in the verses.
To me, this is mature, strong, sensitive, anthemic, moody, a bit euphoric, vibe-y, and super catchy.
It’s also so much more organic than I Really Like You, and obviously not (an incredible) joke like CMM.
People will appreciate this a lot more (because it’s of excellent quality) after their expectations settle a bit. To me, Cut to the Feeling was such a strong song “in that direction”, that going for something that would “beat” that wasn’t really feasible.

Nothing beats "Boy Problems" , but this is still a cool little pop song. Plus she looks hot.
KFC, six pack and gore movies are my idea of a party for one.

Cute! Sounds like it came straight off of Emotion but it’s still a solid Pop tune. Hope it does well for her.

Isn't this song closer to those in Kiss instead of E.MO.TION? The almost monotonic intro and pre-chorus are amazing. Chorus is a bit letdown though. That video certainly does her favor as an LGBT icon, as always.

^ I was about to write that. It’s definitely ‘Kiss’ instead of ‘Emotion’. But with elements of ‘Side B’ production.

Okay I listened to this, it's alright. I like some of the songs I heard from her Emotion album better though.

That video certainly does her favor as an LGBT icon, as always. This is exactly what I thought. I felt like Emotion was a huge leap forward for her in terms of sound and songwriting. This seems to be a major regression, even if it is good.

Guys. This is so freaking good. The bridge where she vulnerably goes “cause you don’t care about me”. Living. So good.

This is...so bad lol. CRJ is a Pulse conspiracy theory, I’m convinced of this now.
