A Perfect Circle has taken over Number 1. "Headstrong" will fall below Number 20 and go recurrent. It fell below Number 20 on Active Rock also.

Don't celebrate yet. Smile Empty Soul will likely drop below Headstrong and go recurrent first. Unless, 12:51 and Away From Me begin to pick it up again. This will make Headstrong's 51st week on the chart.

Nah, Trapt's definitely out of here. Smile Empty Soul still has 100 more spins, and Puddle of Mudd is almost sure to pass Trapt in case SES somehow falls below "Headstrong".
I'm hoping Switchfoot can eke out #17 this week. It'll be close -- they'd have to pass White Stripes and hope POM doesn't leapfrog them though.
Man, what happened to P.O.D.? I'm not a big fan of the song, but it seemed like a sureshot for top 5.

I won't celebrate because if you think about it, technically Trapt are still on because they're not below the top 50.... And they're not yet below #20, despite being there today. If I had to play a song from them that much, and call my station "alternative" both at once, I'd be embarrased.
Anyways, I'm REALLY rooting for the new Blink-182 song. It's one of my favorites.
Go APC! I'm not a big fan of the original, but Danny Lohner's remix gave the song a whole new spin on me. You should download it if you liked the original.
Can't believe how fast Billy Talent are dropping. Not like it was destined to get much farther than it did, though.
OutKast may be done after all, which is kind of sad, although I see why it may not be doing better. But alternative's supposed to be innovative, and it's likely the most groundbreaking thing on there.
I still want to hear that Coldplay song, and it's cool that Kings of Leon have entered, or so it looks like.
Why won't radio play Jane's Addiction more? They're real alternative, unlike most of what's dominating the charts. Urgh. It would be higher on my personal chart if I actually heard it.
I'm rooting for Stone Temple Pilots, one of my Top 5 favorite artists of all-time. So far, 186 spins out of the box. It's STP, so if radio continues to ignore it, my respect for the format will dwindle for the format more than it has.
No Doubt off to a good start, #59 and +177.
Limp Bizkit have like 3 songs in the top 100.... Something's going wrong these days. If you heard radio these days, you'd think that "Behind Blue Eyes" was at least in the top 30 already.
I noticed how some 3-year-old White Stripes songs are still listed as current.

Can someone post Switchfoot's chart run? I lost track after the fourth week and I don't feel like trying to extrapolate which positions I'm missing.
Although it's too bad Outkast is almost done, I'm not surprised. At the end of the day it's still a hip-hop song. If the Roots could only manage a #36 peak, (and that had a bit more rock influence) then they weren't going to do much better. The best they can hope for is to linger around and build up a 15-20 week chart run, which I think could happen.
I am surprised, though, that Audioslave is done. What was wrong? Too slow? >:(
I think the Strokes should be moving faster up the chart.

This will be the 19th week for "Liberate" (I know because I got this week's issue of R&R yesterday ) and it still has a bullet. Can it hold on long enough to pass its 20th week and therefore cause R&R to make a decision on whether or not to keep it on the chart? Going recurrent THIS week: "Headstrong" (after 50 weeks, one full year on the R&R chart!), "Just Because" Going recurrent NEXT week: none (but "Bottom of a Bottle" is at 27 weeks and will fall out once it goes below #20, likely next week) Going recurrent in two weeks: "Liberate" (see above), "The Leaving Song Pt. II" Going recurrent in three weeks: none Going recurrent in four weeks: "Creatures (For a While)" Going recurrent once they fall below #20: "Faint" (30 weeks), "Going Under" (20), "Show Me How to Live" (20), "Seven Nation Army" (36)

I really like that "Tilling My Own Grave" mix of Weak and Powerless. Good for APC...I've probably lost about 15 pounds from all the nauseation that hearing "So Far Away" has caused.
Looks like the bottom finally has dropped out from under "Going Under". Blink 182 is still rising pretty quick, but I still say no #1 for "Feeling This". "Hardest button" is finally about done.
I hope Jet can slug it out for the top 10, and that Cold could do the same for top 15. I'm growing a bit weary of the Switchfoot song that's seemingly been around forever.
3 Doors Down's longevity is unbelievable. Alternative dumped Fountain's of Wayne the instant it became pop's greatest gainer and I don't see why they didn't do the same with 3DD.
Hot Hot Heat's new song is great, but not the slightest bit radio friendly and I'm surprised it even reached the top 40.
I don't think Outkast is done yet.
I haven't heard "The Saddest Song" yet, but good for them that it's gaining triple digits.
I have no idea where this Coldplay song came from.
I just start to love The Brand New's song and it starts sliding down. Wtf.
If you listen to 89x in Detroit, you'd think Finger Eleven and Linkin Park were on the same level of popularity, but this is F11's first top 50 hit in over five years.
Add 'em all up and they'd still only have enough plays to reach #46. I'll live with that.
It's good to see The Foos and Iggy approaching the top 50. I'm mad that "Kennedy" had to settle for a "mid-week only" top 50, and that R.E.M. missed altogether. I don't know if "Beyond The Grey Sky" was a good pick for single #2 and I have this bad feeling about it hitting the chart.
Songs I haven't heard:
26 Hoobastank - Out Of Control (I had a chance to hear this about a week ago, but I didn't feel like waiting in the car for it when it's probably gonna start being overplayed to death within the next couple weeks anyway) 30 Sevendust - Enemy 31 Jane's Addiction - True Nature 38 Story Of The Year - Until The Day I Die 40 Ataris - The Saddest Song 41 Coldplay - Moses 42 Alien Ant Farm - Glow 46 Static X - The Only 48 Brmc - Stop 49 Kings Of Leon - Molly's Chamber (who?)

I have no idea where this Coldplay song came from. They've got a live album/dvd coming out shortly. This is the same song that KROQ was playing 40 times a week after their Hollywood Bowl concert.

It's about time the Top 5 moved.
Hopefully, with all these new songs debuting and barreling up the chart someone can at least knock "Faint" out of the top 5! It's been in there since the beginning of July.
I sure hope Puddle Of Mudd does not hit number one though. "Away From Me" wouldn't be top 50 material for any other band. But number one material? Ugh. If it does hit number one it will be the worst number one of all time. I'm telling you. At least "Hero" or "Always" were decent and top 50 material.
This new Hoobastank song is what I am digging. While "Running Away" is in the top 5 of worst singles of 2002, I absolutely love this new song. Catchy, energetic, and fresh. This is what should be number one.
What happened to Phantom Planet's add date? Anyone?

What happened to Phantom Planet's add date? Anyone? I wasn't even aware they had a new single. Maybe they should re-release "California" since it's the theme song of "O.C.", lol.

I barely heard Trapt's song for the first time a few days ago and I liked it. I am starting to like Alternative songs more now

I am surprised, though, that Audioslave is done. What was wrong? Too slow? I think the only problem is that it was way too soon to release a new single. I don't get the appeal of this new Finger Eleven song and why it's doing any better than anything else they've been putting out. I'm mad that I didn't get to hear Brand New enough to form a solid opinion on it. The last time I heard it (about 3 weeks ago), I liked what I heard. crash, Kings of Leon are new southern rock. Basically, the common description is Skynyrd crossed with the Strokes. I'm not sure how much I'd like them, especially with the magazines shoving 'em down my throat, but "Molly's Chambers" is not bad and it'll probably grow on me more, if it gets enough support.

Well then it probably won't grow on you anymore because it's already out of the top 50 and falling. So I won't even get to hear it at all unless I get on Winmx, which I'm doing now.

That's surprising because I felt this song charted rather quickly compared to when the video started getting played on MTV2.
