Looking at Blink-182's gains slowing down significantly at the bottom of the Top 10, and Linkin Park's "Numb" still between a 400-500 spin stretch away from Trapt's "Still Frame", I think there is reason to believe Trapt may have the next #1 hit, unless Three Days Grace is able to out-pace them within the next two to three weeks.
Finally, "Headstrong" is experiencing deeper losses as "Still Frame" kicks off, and this may also be taken to Trapt's advantage.
Can Trapt top the Alternative chart a second time, or will Three Days Grace cut them to the chase, Blink-182 or Linkin Park suddenly explode, etc.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

The only reason I'm not killing the radio yet is because my local station is playing the new STP song. Otherwise, I'd get an axe, and brake the radio with it.

Not that "Still Frame" is a terrific song, but I'd much rather see it hit #1 then that annoying Three Day Grace song.

Speaking of Three Days Grace... Start to Finish I think their album is among the top 3-5 of this year; same level of consistency as Evenescence.
If they ever release it as a single, Take Me Under will surpass the peak of I Hate Everything About You; and there's an additional three or four other top 20 singles on the album.

It sounds like Trapt could be the next big thing, I'm just surprised I hardly hear anyone talking about them.

Anyway, I think the next number one songs will be Linkin Park followed by Puddle Of Mudd. Three Days Grace has the next best shot, if Jive keeps that payola coming. Look for that discombobumalated mess of a love-hate relationship song to be a pop smash as well.

LOL! ;) I don't like Trapt at all, yet I don't like them just because they're plain bland. An artist or band has to be even more than bland for me to say "uggghhhhh", like with what The Ataris and Chevelle have released this year. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

My guess is that "Numb" will be the next #1. It's already passed "Feelin' This" with a bullet of 458 (and this is its 9th week on the chart! :o), and with "Weak and Powerless"'s bullet, there probably won't be another #1 for 4 or 5 more weeks at least, giving LP plenty of time to pass "Still Frame".

I don't consider Trapt bland at all. They have quite a mixture of different sounding songs on there. One of my favorite albums of the year, actually. I haven't seen Trapt live, and I haven't seen any videos by them, so maybe that helps color them as bland, but musically, I just don't see it.

Wow! I didn't expect "Numb" to be picking up this fast with "Faint" still at #3 on the chart! I figured with "Faint" having many spins still, "Numb" would slow to about a +100-150 bullet for a few weeks before growing again. Then again, matchbox twenty is showing the exact same double-single powerhouse effort on Hot AC, with two singles in the Top 10.
Now there's no doubt in my mind Linkin Park will most likely cut them to the chase and, for the third consecutive time, make a release go straight to #1.
We can expect A Perfect Circle to likely hold #1 for at least four weeks total, then "Numb" can hold on for god knows how long. Perhaps Puddle of Mudd will be the first to topple them from #1, and then its possible Stone Temple Pilots (hopefully their gains will hold up and they won't fall like Janes Addiction's comeback) will top the chart after them.
Despite Trapt likely missing out on the second #1 opportunity with this single, they can still peak at #2 and hang strong on the chart for quite a long time also.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

As a matter of fact I did borrow my sisters album and heard it. Two songs on the album were at least good in my opinion ("Echo" and "Enigma"), but overall, the album was nothing that interesting to me. Sounds a bit close to Hoobastank's material. Nothing groundbreaking, but also something that I wouldn't absolutely can. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

My guess is that "Numb" will be the next #1. It's already passed "Feelin' This" with a bullet of 458 (and this is its 9th week on the chart! :o). Well remember that it crept onto the chart as soon as word was leaked that it would be the new single, so just like "In the End" and "Faint," this one got a head start. Hell, I think this is by far the most deserving new single to take #1. (I still haven't heard "Feeling This" yet.) Now that it's the new single, I like "Numb" a whole lot. However, I will say that the beginning of the 2nd verse, when Chester sings "Can't you see you're smothering me/Holding too tightly..." (the overall music, not the lyrics) is the wimpiest moment of music I've ever heard come from the "new-metal" camp. It's due to the lack of guitar and how high Chester's thin croon goes right there. If blink are now out of the question for #1, I actually want "Numb" to stay #1 until something worthy comes along. I don't care if it takes 10 weeks or more.

More interesting is that I have zero interest in Hoobastank, but like this.

I hope it's not "Still Frame". It's not nearly as good as "Headstrong". Now that I've gotten to like "Everything About You", I hope it does well, but not #1. I'd prefer APC and/or Staind to get a few more weeks at the top, then give way to "Numb". before POM gets there.
