Both tracks are so amazing I’m shook to my core.
Which one is getting pushed?
Major "One Kiss" vibes here, LOVE IT!

This is the better of the two songs, but that’s not saying much. Given all the hype, I expected more...especially with Calvin on a production high with his latest string of hits and them trying to launch Normani’s whole solo campaign as the next “it” girl. This isn’t a bad song per say...Normani sounds great..just doesn’t feel like a “moment”. I was just left wanting more. The song needed some bigger vocal moments to make the production really pop. Idk. I have a feeling I’ll end up loving it after some more listens. She and Victoria Monét are so similar vocally, it’s scary. 😬

I like Checklist, but I love Slow Down. It's so infectious and I love the tempo change in the hook.
I also wonder which one is getting pushed. I think Slow Down would do better in the US, but either could smash in the UK. Slow Down has a touch of that house influence that Calvin's been serving lately (and that has not been received too well by the US audience), but it's not as overt as OK and Promises, and I think the melody (esp. the hook) sells it.

Wow. She really went off on Slow Down. Calvin comes through with these type of productions.

Easily the best of the two tracks but I’m still not blown away. An obvious “One Kiss” followup with a “Feels” chord change every two bars. This is cute but knowing her, it’s not her sound (minus the chorus) and I don’t know if I would start a career with two dance pop singles if my thing was r&b/urban music.

This is cute but knowing her, it’s not her sound (minus the chorus) and I don’t know if I would start a career with two dance pop singles if my thing was r&b/urban music. From her released collabs so far outside of Love Lies, I think they are going for a bit more of an international presence for her. Calvin Harris makes sense because 5H had a fairly high profile in the UK and he’s like gold there, plus she’s had 2 (or 3?) collabs so far with artists popular elsewhere in the diaspora. She’s also had more than one afrobeats influenced type song. My curiosity is indeed piqued at this point. Of the two realeased today prefer this one, but overall if anything ends up a single I’d rather it be the Quavo track. These are good buzz tracks though. As an aside (maybe this is a better question for her album thread) is she giving anyone else “if Janet Jackson was an alto” teas? She just seems to have this silky sexy sultry thing going on in her voice. She sounds great recorded.

All the One Kiss comparisons have me excited. Will listen later.
EDIT: Yeah, easy #1 debut on my chart.

2/2 for me. She isn't playing. I hope they push this. It's the hit!

I like this one better, so summery though. I also doubt if this sound is the right way to go with her. I was expecting something like Mya's Case of The Ex as her first single lol

I love the instrumental during the intro so much and then the beat drops and it's just EH. And I'm not big on the verses and the chorus is especially weak. I don't see either of these songs doing much.

The mix of UK funky and speed garage makes for an interesting collision. Normani accentuates whatever color she has in her voice here.

I could see this doing well in the US TBH. It's a nice mix of R&B and House.

Shit. Dare I say that I may like this even more than "One Kiss"? (Def like it more than "Promises"). Just the change in tempo is so perfect. Fantastic combination and Normani is doing it great justice.
"Checklist" is hot too. It's like a nice companion to "Nuh Ready Nuh Ready".
