Never be the same was #1 on pop for 4 weeks. I see your missing a few songs. Where is No tears left to cry, God is a woman or Youngblood on your list? And by the way, High Hopes hasn't hit #1 on pop yet. Ntltc went number one for a few days but it was a mid week number one and I like it dethroned it by Sunday , Youngblood peaked at two and GIAW peaked at 4? High hopes is literally number one now leonagwen is talking about the pop format, not overall airplay. Anyway, the correct answer is Post Malone.

US: Ariana ("thank u, next", obviously, but the Sweetener era did well too). Camila lost too much steam after NBTS. Outside the US: Dua Lipa. ("One Kiss", "IDGAF", "Electricity"... even good ol' "New Rules" killed it this year). Only NR really connected in the US though. Worldwide: Dua, but Ariana is a very close second.
Drake and Cardi had great years but they're not really "pop", at least it's not their main genre.
Shawn Mendes did well but he kind of lost steam after IMB.
Clean Bandit killed it internationally this year too but none of the songs have caught traction in the US since Rockabye.
Calvin Harris also did well, but mostly outside the US.
Anne-Marie had her biggest year yet too, but the US is still not willing to give her solo stuff a chance.
GLY did wonders for M5 but otherwise it was mostly a drop from their last era.
Ditto for Taylor, "Delicate" helped her change the underwhelming narrative around reputation, but it's still a sizable drop from 1989.
Lady Gaga had her biggest year since ARTPOP or probably BTW... but it's all very tied to the movie. I don't think she's ever going to be the biggest thing on Pop anymore... which is normal, because her peak was huge.

It depends on how we define “pop.” It can be either the genre that we associate with “pop” or just popular music in general. It’s definitely Drake if it’s popular music and Ariana if it’s the prior

Lady Gaga.
Outsold everyone in Pop with a soundtrack, critical acclaim, boxscore success, impending award nominations.

If we are talking Pop, not overall/urban, Ariana.

In terms of commercial success, sheer visibility, and overall popularity, it has to be Ariana, right? Sweetener and its singles smashed, ‘thank u, next’ is a massive #1 that’s been breaking records left and right, she has another new album dropping soon, and she was all over the news this year because of Pete and Mac. Drake was huge, obviously, but I don’t think he’s felt nearly as ubiquitous as Ariana.

Billboard released their year end lists today and Camila had 2 songs in the top 10 pop songs of the year, and she had 2 songs in the top 20 on the year end hot 100.

So the answer is Drake for males and overall, and Taylor Swift for females.

Lady Gaga. Outsold everyone in Pop with a soundtrack, critical acclaim, boxscore success, impending award nominations. She and others lol she is in the main pull for the movie but she can’t claim total credit

Ariana Grande when referring to American pop. Kenshi Yonezu dominated over in Japan. But in terms of overall music... yeah, Drake.

Drake. Easily. Just because Rhythmic/Urban are his primary formats doesn't mean he isn't a pop star too.
