The more I hear this song the more I keep hearing it sound like "I'll call you later" instead of "alcohol you later."
I don't mind the song but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it.

Tied with Dan + Shay for most added this week on Mediabase with 40 adds. I think it's 42 total stations by add week. I really want to like Mitchell Tenpenny. Since I have a feeling that he isn't going away anytime soon, but I heard this song on the radio last night and he just sounds so unpleasant. Actually according to tonight's Add report Dan + Shay beat Mitchell by 1 add. 41 to 40

Not sure why he has to cover a Tim McGraw song but here it is.

Not sure why he has to cover a Tim McGraw song but here it is. It was probably originally done for another streaming source. It's not a bad cover. I like covers alot and I appreciate that he did it differently enough to stand out, though I'm sure many will hate it.

He slows it down to the pace at which I always thought the original would have been better delivered (not that you can argue its success of course). He does a good job on this. It's also nice to see country artists (like him and Morgan Wallen) releasing covers of country songs as it seemed for a while a lot of the covers were top 40 hits.

This is sure taking its sweet time to hit the MB chart (not that I'm complaining, lol).

I wanted to dislike his Tim McGraw cover on principle, but I can't even lie it's actually pretty good imo. I thought him switching up the tempo the way he did was odd at first, but it worked pretty well honestly. He also sounded decently on it, and I don't really care for his voice much. Stronger effort than this current single he's got out, that's for sure.

This song is definitely flopping out of the gate. Mitchell Tenpenny has spent 8 weeks so far on Billboard and has only gotten as high as #57.
Maybe this song can last very long, but the start has been so underwhelming that I can see this being the second biggest flop of a single for the followup single after OTV (Raelynn "For A Boy" being the biggest flop of them all).

With any luck, this will disappear soon and maybe we will never have to hear from this guy again. My vote for worst "country" song of the year since i refuse to acknowledge OTR as a country song(otherwise that would take it over this...but barely)

For some reason this vanished from Billboardâs Country Airplay Chart. It was at #43 with a bullet last week and I donât see it anywhere on this weekâs chart.

Lost enough audience and it was at 23 weeks old (20 weeks or older). This songâs hook and music is dreadful. I never got the sense this was a good choice for a single.

Columbiaâs staff threw in the towel on this one last week. Now in free-fall mode; lost 90 spins in todayâs update.

Now hopefully they decide to move on from this album and re-release "Cane's Creek."

This got me thinking about how iHeart's On The Verge artists do on their second single. Not so great. Only three times, so far, has an single immediately following has hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. Four times the followup didn't make the Top 40. Seven times the followup didn't make the Top 30. The only artists to get a number one song on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart post their On The Verge push are Dustin Lynch, Sam Hunt, Maren Morris and Luke Combs (so far). - Craig Campbell -- Keep Them Kisses Coming #9 -- Tomorrow Tonight #39
- Dustin Lynch -- Where It's At #1 -- Hell Of A Night #1
- Sam Hunt -- Leave The Night On #1 -- Take Your Time #1
- Chase Bryant -- Take It On Back #9 --Little Bit Of You #4
- Raelynn -- God Made Girls #16 -- For A Boy #58
- A Thousand Horses -- Smoke #1 -- (This Ain't No ) Drunk Dial #23
- Michael Ray -- Kiss You In The Morning #1 -- Real Men Love Jesus #17
- Chris Janson -- Buy Me A Boat #3 -- Power Of Positive Drinkin #35
- Cam -- Burning House #2 -- Mayday #36
- Granger Smith -- Backroad Song #1 -- If The Boot Fits #6
- Maren Morris -- My Church #9 -- 80s Mercedes #12
- Tucker Beathard -- Rock On #2 -- Momma and Jesus #43
- Lauren Alaina -- Road Less Traveled #1 -- Doin' Fine #27
- Luke Combs -- Hurricane #1 -- When It Rains It Pours #1
- Carly Pearce -- Every Little Thing #1 -- Hide The Wine #13
- Devin Dawson -- All On Me #2 -- Asking For A Friend #52
- Morgan Evans -- Kiss Somebody #3 -- Day Drunk #21 (so far)
- Mitchell Tenpenny -- Drunk Me #1 -- Alcohol You Later #43
- Jimmie Allen -- Best Shot #1 -- Make Me Want To #29 (so far)
