So songs have obviously debuted at #1 before...but has there ever been a song that charged, dropped out, then debuted at the #1 spot?

I believe "Million Reasons" was the highest re-entry at #4, but I could be wrong.

No, unfortunately. The highest re-entry currently is "Million Reasons" by Lady Gaga

I know this is off topic but SAD! had one of the weirdest chart runs I've seen, especially for a #1 song. It had a good debut for X, being his first top 20 debut and his first top 10 when the album dropped, then between the release of ? and his death, SAD! jumped around the middle of the chart pretty bizarrely, then obviously shot back up to #1, spent a very short amount of time in the top 10 afterwards, and then lingered in the top 40 forever. Fun fact, when the video dropped, it wasn't counted for the week of July 7, so if the Youtube views were counted that week, SAD! would've been #1 for 2 weeks and I Like It would've never hit #1.

And to think, I Like It deserves to be #1. So I guess it's fair to have both SAD! and I Like It a week each at the top.

Yeah, the fact that it starts charting around Thanksgiving when it definitely won't be the most popular song will prevent Mariah from doing that.
I think if it continues it's streaming growth it could hit #1 this year though.
