Debuted at #20 on Billboard! Love seeing that #20 debut. Great for George Strait. Let us visit I Saw God Today when it debuted at #19 in 2008. It became Strait's 43rd #1 hit in May. It was the second biggest hit of the year behind Just Got Started Lovin' You by James Otto. Ready? BILLBOARD TOP TWENTY FOR WEEK ENDING FEBRUARY 23, 2008: 1. Letter To Me-Brad Paisley-Arista 2. It’s so crazy how well this song has been doing so far. Granted the first week was buoyed by iHeartMedia deal but it’s been posting great gains since then as well. I wonder why the reception to this song has been great so far, I thought radio had shut George Strait out after “I Got a Car” but I guess not? Either way, great to see and hopefully this can take him back to #1.

"Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" should stay in the top 30 on Mediabase this week (dropping from #27 last week to #30 this week). George has gained well over 300 spins on Mediabase the past three days, so the song is chugging along like it did before its 8th/9th day update and after its initial debut. The fact iHeart debuted this hourly so early in the week and Townsquare Media (who takes a while to warm up to new stuff) has added this to their corporate playlist for daytime and overnight spins is a great sign. By Monday this one will have well over 100 stations on board. This certainly isn't looking like one-off debut week.
This song got a Monday debut with hourly spins that afternoon and all day Tuesday...I was discussing this with someone else a few days ago and they're like "why would corporate radio give this the most prestigious debut offer if it was only a one-off kinda thing?" I think radio, given its lofty debut, would like to see where this can go and therefore, is looking like "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" has a real shot to get George back to the top 10.

I think it’ll be in the 25-30 range on Billboard still. This may end up doing better than I thought it would but then again I also thought “Neon Church” would’ve been a bigger hit too.

When i first heard this I will admit that I immediately thought it was a hit (and I’m obviously a biased fan...). I have no doubt that this’ll be a hit going into the year and will end up being a #1 hit for the summer for 2019.

Yeah the every day gains are indicative of a song that is a future top ten or #1. It has similar numbers as if it were a lead single from big-time artists like a Thomas Rhett or Luke Bryan honestly. Keeping that up is the more difficult part of course, but there are zero indicators that this song is slowing down.

"Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" only dropped to #24 this week after debuting at #20 last week on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. I'd say that's a great sign for the future of the latest from the King.

Kworb didn’t update today.....Any idea what’s going on? Sometimes Kworb doesn’t update or takes a long time to update. All Access did though, “Every Little Honkytonk Tonk Bar” gained 104 spins and 400k in total audience in today’s Mediabase update.

^^^^^^I agree with collinkottke's post to a point; given the resurgence of traditional country at the format in recent years with groups such as Midland and Old Dominion leading the way not to mention future superstar Brett Young who'll be making chart history very soon, I think that a lot of MDs and PDs are waking up to the fact that their listeners want much better songs on the radio, and with having the very best collection of songwriters in existence continuing their unmatched proficiency of producing exceptional music combined with the best and deepest libraries of any format out there, not utilizing that treasure trove of superb music would be moronic and then some.
It remains to be seen if King George's latest fine single will rise at a rate to perhaps provide some evidence that the bro-country death grip on the charts is showing scant signs of relaxing, or if this wonderful song will emulate the slow-as-molasses rise of 'I Got A Car'.
Time will tell, I guess.

I believe "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" will far outpace "I Got a Car". That one took 38 weeks to get to #17, while this one is #24 in its second week. And the daily gains for this have been very strong, only dipping a tiny bit from what it was doing in its debut week. I remain very optimistic about George's chances of scoring yet another top 10 and hopefully he can go all the way to the top. Side note: Wouldn't it be cool if his follow-up single charted well in 2020? It would be George's 5th decade of charting.

George Strait will match that accomplishment with two of his contemporaries: Reba McEntire and Alabama. Both acts charted during the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s.

I'm glad this one is doing well and looking like a hit, but it's so random that country radio decided to collectively re-embrace him with open arms again like this.

I prefer "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" over "Honky Tonk Time Machine" but the latter is still solid. Judging by how these two songs are, the new album is going to be really good.
This is continuing to grow on me as it continues to climb on radio. I liked this one from the get go, but with repeated listens it becomes more infectious! I still don't know how to feel about the spelling out part in the chorus (L-I-V-N and D-R-A-G-N) but besides that, this is a really great song.

Not to count the chickens before they hatch, but I hope this seemingly re-embrace of George Strait at radio isn't just for one song. Because "Honky Tonk Time Machine" sounds like a smash, too. I'm giddy. This album is going to be bonkers.

It looks like Kworb no longer lists genre charts, I only see "ITunes," "Spotify," etc. but nothing for "Country." Does anyone know of another way to see daily updates? I'm curious to see if George's song is really climbing the charts, or was it just a one-time blip on the radar when he released the single? Either way, it's encouraging, since his last album didn't generate anything remotely close to a Top 20.

All Access is another tool to check the chart. "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" gained 566 spins this past week and gained another 53 spins and 200k in audience in today's update. This is most certainly looking like the real deal and not a fluke debut week.

It’s funny how this started gaining well again after a so-so week when Thomas Rhett had his 8th day effect. I got worried for a while lol, but things are shaping up well for George to get another top 10. This is solidly planted in the all-genre iTunes top 200 and I can’t see it being polarizing enough to have bad callout.

#36 on all-genre iTunes right now. Easily the best performed pre-order single. Update: #13 on iTunes and #1 country.
