Yeah no, these are all the same female fans who allowed songs like "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" and "Get Me Some Of That" to become hits within the last few years. And yet the slightly male-centric lyrics of THIS song is what causes them to jump ship?

Is it to late to get Luke Combs singing backgrounds on “Some Nights”???
George Strait ft. Luke Combs.....Sounds like Radio would be all over this lol.

It looks like this song is in a freefall, it's -128 spins, and has lost 2M audience this week. I think we'll have to be content with the #17 peak. If this really is the end for this song, what's the consensus pick for followup single? For me, it's "Old Violin" but I doubt others will agree.

"Some Nights" and "Blue Water" I think are the two songs on the album that could be a hit on today's radio. Maybe "Honky Tonk Time Machine", but there's no way they go with another song with honky tonk in the title for the second single.

I hope they choose "Some Nights", I think that could actually be a big hit if radio allows it to be. George has been one of the few older artists to have good single sales and ELHTB hasn't done too badly in streaming either.

Some Nights is the best song on the album, but I can't imagine anything else would be able to chart. I do like the idea of George teaming up with artists like Luke Combs, Eric Church, Chris Young, Tim McGraw (this should happen), and maybe Blake on a duet album or something. That's me just wanting a few more #1 singles honestly and doubtful to happen.
It's a shame Every Little Honky Tonk Bar is over. I think it deserved a better fate.

Some nights is the only choice for the next single. It’s the best & most radio friendly song on the album.

I think its safe to say that this song is done. It peaked at #17, same peak as "I got a car" in 2014. I think George's best chance at another #1 song is, like @jacobl18 said above, do a duet with Luke Combs. If "Some Nights" is released next, I don't think I'll do much better than ELHTB did despite being one of my favorites from "Honky Tonk Time Machine".

Y'all George Strait has barely ever done any duets throughout his entire career and literally none of them have been singles aside from the one that Kenny Chesney featured him on ("Shiftwork"), so he's not about to link up with Luke Combs of all people and start piggybacking off others to hit #1 in 2019. I know these aren't totally serious comments, but still. The fact that he got another top 20 hit at all is something to celebrate anyway. I'm willing to bet most of us didn't expect him to even get another top 40 hit again.

I’m not talking a duet just LC singing background kinda like the new Pink song with Stapleton or GS “Showman’s Life” with Faith Hill. It would be a very smart move by George because it would almost guarantee him a big hit but more importantly it could help him with future singles reaching higher on the charts. They are both with the same label group....it’s not a bad idea.

But I don't think George Strait cares that much about radio success at this stage that and collaborations don't always mean the other artist will keep radio momentum (David Lee Murphy after "Everything's Gonna Be Alright", Alan Jackson after "As She's Walking Away", etc.) Also Luke Combs is Sony and George Strait is UMG Nashville.

Singing with Luke C. hasn’t guaranteed Brooks & Dunn a hit.

My mistake on the Labels...I thought Luke Combs was UMG. I think George still wants on the radio, he did a lot of media interviews for this new album and I’m sure would even like award nominations. In my opinion if he doesn’t want hit singles then he shouldn’t release anymore of them. Just release albums

Singing with Luke C. hasn’t guaranteed Brooks & Dunn a hit. It wasn’t pushed at radio. So it would’ve given them a radio resurgence if it had? 🙄

No Brooks & Dunn would not have had a resurgence at radio because they are not making new music nor are they at the same level as George.

I am pretty sure this is the last week the song will appear on Billboard. It lost 1.5M audience so will probably go recurrent.

It's been awhile since this was commented on, and sorry for resurrecting it but want to know is MCA going to even bother sending a second single from this album of George's? It's been almost 3 months since this song exited the charts after peaking at #17.
I remember back in 2015, they sent "Cold Beer Conversation" out the same week as the album release, and after that was done in early 2016, MCA did send out another single and third one from that album in early Fall 2016. I hope they don't wait too long as the momentum will all but be gone. I remember when "Goin' Goin' Gone" didn't do nothing after being sent to radio at that time as it did not chart.

I think they were waiting to see if “Honky Tonk Time Machine” got a cma nomination for album of the year to decide their plan on a second single.....That didn’t happen so I’d assume they are done releasing singles. I believe this is the best selling country album so far in 2019....can someone confirm?

I love how this is the best selling country album of the year but somehow it couldn’t get a album of the year nom really can someone say rigged wow I think it’s only because George’s fan base is older and they don’t stream music. Also Luke Combs new album will have 7 weeks at the end of 2019 to sell more than GS and it’s possible he could end up with the best selling album of the year. But I agree this album was great and should have gotten a nom.

Miranda should surpass his sales when Wildcard drops too, not that either that or Luke Combs' new album have any effect on whether George Strait should've been nominated or not. I definitely think his album was worthy, but all the ones they did nominate made sense as well.
