Working on this and Lori today! Trisha didn't even tag me for reminders so not sad I missed that one. It's become a series if you're not aware, and the next album is due March 27! Also Trisha pulled a massive upset of a winner so I would go check out her thread

1. What song(s) do you think could win the Three Chords and the Truth rankdown? I think the title track
2. What song(s) do you expect might come in last place? “I’ve Got a Tiger By the Tail”
3. What single do you expect to place highest? The title track for the win Lowest? It’ll be close, but I’ll guess that the outcome will be opposite of her artist rankdown and “True Lies” will come out ahead
4. What album track do you think will be the highest and where will it land? “I Don’t Wanna See the Light”
5. How soon in the reveals do you think we will lose our first #1 ranking? Within’ the first three reveals
6. Any other predictions/thoughts? While this isn’t one of Sara’s albums that I ever revisit I do appreciate the traditional sound. Oh, and I totally overlooked the fact that this album was produced by Pete Anderson who is best known for his work with Dwight Yoakam.

1. What song(s) do you think could win the Three Chords and the Truth rankdown?
"True Lies" will win
2. What song(s) do you expect might come in last place?
"I've Got A Tiger By The Tail"
3. What single (True Lies, title track, Shame About That) do you expect to place highest? Lowest?
Highest: "True Lies" Lowest: "Shame About That" (though I expect all 3 to be the top 3)
4. What album track do you think will be the highest and where will it land?
to be honest, while I really liked the 3 singles I wasn't that thrilled with the album as a whole. I think that "The Week the River Raged", "Unopened", and "Even Now" are good so the highest album track will be among those 3
5. How soon in the reveals do you think we will lose our first #1 ranking?
Top 3 hopefully because only the singles should get #1 rankings imo. Based on this question though I wonder if we'll see a #1 loss at #10...
6. Any other predictions/thoughts?
I should give this album more time because I liked some aspects to it but it definitely feels like an album that needs repeat listens to grow on you. Interested to see how off I am on my rankings lol

1. What song(s) do you think could win the Three Chords and the Truth rankdown? The title track, "The Week the River Raged," or "I Don't Wanna See the Light" are far and away the best of this album imo so I hope these three do well here.2. What song(s) do you expect might come in last place? "True Lies" and "Shame About That" can never stay in why head; no matter how many times I listen to them I always forget how they go soon after. Especially considering the singles rankdown, I wouldn't be surprised to see "True Lies" bow out first.3. What single (True Lies, title track, Shame About That) do you expect to place highest? the title track Lowest? "True Lies" or "Shame About That"4. What album track do you think will be the highest and where will it land? I hope "I Don't Wanna See the Light" can hit the top five and I'd like to see it make the Top 3. Like I said I wouldn't be mad if it wins tbh5. How soon in the reveals do you think we will lose our first #1 ranking? LMAO Probably like 1 or 2 maybe 3 reveals in and it'll probably (but hopefully not) be mine 6. Any other predictions/thoughts? This is definitely not the best album from Sara Evans, but it certainly isn't terrible either!

1. What song(s) do you think could win the Three Chords and the Truth rankdown? The title track is the only valid option!
2. What song(s) do you expect might come in last place? "Imagine That" is horrifically dreary. That please.
3. What single (True Lies, title track, Shame About That) do you expect to place highest? Lowest? Highest will be "Three Chords And The Truth". Lowest will be "Shame About That".
4. What album track do you think will be the highest and where will it land? "Even Now" is my pick! It feels more like a song that would have fit on her second album, which gives it an advantage over the rest of this debut imo. Hopefully it'll sneak into the top 3! I would also accept "I Don't Wanna See The Light".
5. How soon in the reveals do you think we will lose our first #1 ranking? Probably at #7.
6. Any other predictions/thoughts? I can see why this album gets all the traditionalist praise, but tbh as a huge Sara Evans fan this is easily the album I revisit the least. Outside of the title track, the entire album just feels so non-essential and obsolete now.

1. What song(s) do you think could win the Three Chords and the Truth rankdown? The title track will win 2. What song(s) do you expect might come in last place? Tiger by the tail 3. What single (True Lies, title track, Shame About That) do you expect to place highest? Lowest? Three chords will win, Shame About That will be the poorest performer 4. What album track do you think will be the highest and where will it land? Walk Out Backwards! Top 3! 5. How soon in the reveals do you think we will lose our first #1 ranking? Uhh I’ll say not until we get to the top 4. 6. Any other predictions/thoughts? I love this album, it’s such a throwback and I’m so happy she made this. Her vocals are stellar, especially on Imagine That.... ;)

We kick things off in the Three Chords and the Truth rankdown with Sara's rendition of "Imagine That," a song made famous by the legendary Patsy Cline. Sara's version sounds like it could've been lifted from the same time period in 1962 when Ms. Cline first recorded it, in keeping with the retro sound that her debut album was styled after. That said, this one largely seemed to be one that participants felt could've been left in 1962. There was only one other contender for last place in the submission process for this rankdown, but it only briefly sunk below this one for a few lists, and "Imagine That" ultimately trailed our #10 song by a 15-point deficit when the final votes were counted. It carries with it a grand total of six last-place ranks, while only yielding a lone top 3 and only three other top half placements, indicative of its inability to rise above #11 here.

This song is a dreary mess and possibly my least favorite recorded song in her entire catalog. I do not use.

5. How soon in the reveals do you think we will lose our first #1 ranking? The answer to this question is... right now! Out in the bottom 2 is "I've Got a Tiger by the Tail," yet another cover recording (which only one of three now remains), this time of a hit single for Buck Owens back in 1965. In contrast with our last reveal, this is a much more chipper and lively tune, but it feels a bit more novelty and likely scans as a bit more grating compared to some of the other uptempos on the record. As such, it fell victim to the penultimate position of the Three Chords and the Truth rankdown. It spent a brief period of maybe 3-4 lists in last place somewhere in the middle before "Imagine That" took back over, and a literal last-minute entry from austin as our final contributor gave this one the distinction of being one of only two album cuts in this rankdown to receive a #1 ranking. It padded its lead over "Imagine That," but it was sadly too little too late for this one, as it was drug down by six #11s.

One of the most deliberately twangy uptempos on the record, the sassy and bouncy "If You Ever Want My Lovin'" rounds out the bottom of this rankdown. While the songs in the bottom 2 and the songs in the top 5 mostly held their ground, the middle was a little more buoyant and this song ultimately landed in ninth place, but with a final separation of only 5 points between it and the two next-highest songs. It only accumulated a single #11 rank -- courtesy of austin who I suppose gets some immediate relief following his tragic early #1 loss -- while also getting five top 5 ranks. Instead it mostly landed in the 6-9 range for most, making this a pretty appropriate place for it to bow out.

I will NEVER understand the hate for “Imagine That”. It is a highlight on this album! In fact when I introduce old Sara to friends and family, this is my go to song! Vocals are on point and it’s just over all classy. What I’d give to see her perform this in a small intimate wine bar type venue... 😍

I kind of figured that with the throwback production of “Imagine That” it would receive quite a bit of bottom two rankings, but given Buck Owens or a Patsy Cline cover I’d take Patsy any day.
“If You Ever Want My Lovin’” is a fun two-stepping tune with a catchy chorus and I had hoped would also do a bit better here.

Another one of the more lively toe-tapping tunes, "Even Now" is the next to bow out of the Three Chords and the Truth rankdown. Ranks for this one were pretty evenly spread from the top to the bottom with a rank or two for almost all placements possible, but it got just a few more on the low end to make it bottom-heavy enough to land down here at #8. With this loss, poor austin has already seen the exit of his top 2, and bboat11 joins him in losing a runner-up here as well. gardyfan sees his #11 depart though.

All one right after another, all of the non-single uptempo tracks from Three Chords and the Truth have now been eliminated in the bottom half of the rankdown, with "Walk Out Backwards" (the third and final cover song included on the record -- this one previously done by Bill Anderson) rounding out the bottom 5. This uptempo ditty finds Sara putting a cute spin on a song that deals with heartache by making it sound like its actually a happy number. It's not a happy moment for d3vin44 who loses his #2 rank here, or for the five others who placed this one top 5. It received a last place from taylor and a few other low ranks, but it largely landed near the middle of most participants' lists.

The next three songs (#4-6) all finished extremely close with one another, each separated by only one point (their point values are 110, 111, and 112). Things changed a lot with every list that was entered, and it means that the final song to land outside top 5 only just narrowly missed out. What song will it be tho?!

My personal favorite album cut from the album is the last one to just miss out on the top 5. "Unopened," a ballad that finds Sara Evans stumbling upon a letter that her significant other has saved, but it remains unopened, leaving her to wonder about its contents. It's a pretty heartbreaking lyric and she delivers it with one of the best vocal performances on the record, and revealing at the end that she decides to leave it unopened just as her man has after all these years is a nice twist. No one ranked it quite as high as me, but it racked up an impressive number of top 5s (ten to be exact, just over half the participant pool), and only landed at the bottom of one users' list ( fearlessarrow, who must've had a bad papercut experience associated with an envelope in his childhood, because that's the only way I can rationalize a last place rank for this one!).

Idk, if fearlessarrow had had a bad paper cut from an envelope as a child, I think he would LIKE the thought of an unopened envelope! His problem is that he clearly hasn’t been cut hard enough yet!
