Unsurprisingly, #12 is another album track. I expected it to do poorly but I thought more people would tank it. Still, its not good enough to avoid the bottom three.

The *only* reason DIDT escaped my last position is because I completely forgot her Mahogany cover existed. Even if it’s for all the wrong reasons, I’ve never forgotten about DIDT‘s existence.

#12. “X-Girlfriend”“X-Girlfriend” is another album track and was a writing and production collaboration with Kandi Burruss and Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs. Can’t say that I was surprised by where it landed but I am surprised at the high SD. It’s the song with the fifth-lowest standard deviation but I imagined it’d be one of the lowest. I personally have always found “X-Girlfriend” to be one of my guilty Mariah pleasures but many of you disagree. It received eleven bottom three rankings which was quite enough to combat the eight top 10 rankings it also received. Just enough to leave it a mere 7 points below the song at #11. We'll close out today's initial set of reveals just shy of the top 10. The song at #11 is another collaboration. Like the song before it, 11 of you ranked it bottom three and it lands just 7 points ahead of "X-Girlfriend".

The perfect bottom four and exactly what these songs deserve. All trash and some of the worst material she's ever recorded.

That stale ass Usher duet definitely deserved bottom-3 but XG is a late-90s BOP on par with almost all of Kandi/Shekspere’s other records. Can’t say I’m surprised at y’all tho.

Kanenrá:ke was able to send his updated list while this set was being revealed so I've added his points in and will be updating the posts shortly. The positions revealed so far don't change - just a change in points.
We'll head into the top 10 tomorrow!
Until then, please enjoy this Mariah Extra - "Heartbreaker" Remix as performed on the MTV EMAs.

“Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To?)” was originally recorded by Thelma Houston in 1973, and most notably by Diana Ross as the theme to the 1975 Motown/Paramount film Mahogany. Mariah covered the song in 1998 and intended to release it as the fourth single from the #1’s album but it was not included on the American version due to Jennifer Lopez covering it on her debut album On the 6 and intending to release it as a single as well. Sony felt it that it wasn’t right to have two artists covering and releasing the same song as a single at the same time. Both of them ended up not releasing the song after all. It was later included on international pressings of Mariah’s #1’s album and as a French hidden bonus track on Rainbow. That seems odd since On the 6 came out at least 7 months after #1s. They had those plans that far in advance?

“How Much” was at least Mariah using that 2Pack sample before Beyonce/Jay-Z and Toni.

With a little weed and a drink I can bop to "XGurl" "How Much Falsetto" but nothing on gods pollution filled earth can make me listen to song #14 and generic song #13 who dont even deserve to be named.
Song #13 is so bad and generic atleast, Mariah voice somewhat saves it. I cant even imagine how horrid it would sound with a bad vocalist covering it. Press delete

The trash was taken out early. Praise him. I'm pleasantly surprised because I thought Flop Much and X-FlopFriend would stay around longer than they deserved. Thanks, Pulse! The concept of Usher and Mariah sounded good on paper, but I have never liked him with female singers on a song, really, and this was no different. As for X...well...just because P!nk, TLC, and Destiny's Child could do it, doesn't mean Mariah could, but she sure did try, though.
Secret: I used to listen to Mystikal, so I don't HATE DIDT, but mostly because I like It Ain't My Fault, too. It was still misguided for Mariah to do that song, though. It's one thing to work with hoodrats; it's another to have them hootin', hollerin', and growling unintelligible mess ALL over your track. Their version of Don't Stop (Funkin' For Jamaica) is much better.

I’d like “X-Girlfriend” more with better vocals. The pre-chorus and bridge are nice, but the harmonies sound bad.

Update: alexcuse also came through and was able to send his revised list so I've added his points in and have updated yesterday's posts. The positions revealed so far don't change - just a change in points.
With that, let's jump into the top 10! The song that kicks us off at #10 is a ballad. No surprise with all the ballads available to choose from. This particular one was ranked in the top ten by fifteen of us.
While you wait for the reveal, please bop to this Mariah Extra - "Thank God I Found You" Make It Last Remix as performed on American Music Awards in 2000.

#10. "Rainbow (Interlude)"“Rainbow (Interlude)” is one of two interludes on the album and is the second-to-last track on the album appearing between “Petals” and album closer “Thank God I Found You”. The interlude was written and produced by Mariah alongside Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. This got just about as good a showing as I was expecting being that it made the top 10. Some of y’all were really advocating for it and you didn’t let it down. Only four of you ranked in the bottom three while fifteen others ranked it top 10, with two of those rankings falling into the top 5. So, with that, it winds up right around the middle of the SD curve as the song with the seventh-highest standard deviation. Coming up next at #9, another collaboration sees its way out. This song has seventeen top 10 rankings and, for the first time in the game, a #1 ranking. Who loses their #1 ranking first?

#9. "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)"Official Video w/Westlife Solo Version Audio "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" is a song originally by Phil Collins which has been covered heavily. Mariah co-produced her version of the song with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and it was released as the fifth and final single off Rainbow on August 8, 2000. Although the song was promoted as part of Rainbow in the U.S., it was not released as a commercial or radio single there. It was initially released in some markets in early 2000. The song reached the top twenty in several countries. The highest peak of the song was number two in Norway. Mariah re-released the song in collaboration with Irish boyband Westlife. The song was released as the first single from the band's second album Coast to Coast. The song was released in September 2000, a month after the solo version. Mariah’s vocals from the solo version were retained for the duet, though the instrumental track was reproduced with a more organic sound complete with violins. The music video shows Mariah and Westlife recording the song and exploring the island of Capri by boat. The re-released single peaked at number one in the United Kingdom and Ireland, while reaching number three on the continental chart, European Hot 100 Singles. It became Mariah’s second single to top the UK Singles Chart. Due to its European success, the single is featured on the international editions of Mariah’s compilation albums Greatest Hits and #1 to Infinity. “Against All Odds” ends up in a tie for fourth-highest standard deviation with the song that’s ahead of it at #8. Five people ranked it in their bottom three while seventeen others ranked it top 10. And here we have our very first #1 loss of the game - .indulgecountry boo I’m sorry, you’re out. But it combated its various bottom three rankings to make it all the way up to #9.
