Hopefully “Bliss makes top 5. Welp. #6. “Bliss”“Bliss” is an album track written and produced by Mariah along with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. It’s the second-to-last remaining album track which surprised me as its definitely one of those ‘love it or hate it’ type of Mariah songs. She’s pretty much giving you her full range here and I can never be mad at her for it. Her use of the whistle register is either considered superfluous or fabulous on this one – no middle ground. And the rankings showed it. “Bliss” was the song with the third-highest standard deviation. It’s one of only two songs remaining to not have a #1 ranking. Thankfully only two people ranked it in their bottom three - Kanenrá:ke and .indulgecountry you’ve cleared your bottom three – only three other people haven’t done so yet. It also receives a bunch of #10 rankings but many of us placed in the top 5 which offset the lower rankings and placed it comfortably at #6. I can't recall if this is my first perfect rank or not (the bottom half of this album is such a wash for me that just knowing my top 6 is the top 6 is perfect enough, lol).
Honestly I love Bliss a lot, but it's an A-/B+ serve that could have easily been an A+ if she'd just dialed it back some. Just the simple decision to sing the first hook in a lower octave, or to layer the hook with a lower-octave harmony would have added some necessary tonal contrast and taken the 'superfluous' edge off this quite a bit. Regardless, the song is a whole mood and easily one of the better songs here.

Shall we Top 5 then? I have to say, its a lovely top 5. The song that is out next is 32 whole points ahead of "Bliss" and is the last song remaining not to have a #1 ranking.

#5. "Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)"Morales Club Mix Edit Morales Revival Triumphant Mix
"Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)" was released as Rainbow’s third single and a double A-side with "Crybaby" on June 6, 2000. It was written by Mariah and Diane Warren and produced by Mariah and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Lyrically, the song speaks of inner strength, and not allowing others to tear away your dreams. The song was well received by critics, many of whom complimented the lyrics and vocals. The song was not commercially successful due to its limited release and other factors. "Can't Take That Away" was the center of a very public controversy between Mariah and Sony Music, based on what she perceived to be weak promotion of the single. It peaked at number 40 in Belgium Wallonia, number 45 in Italy and number 65 in the Netherlands. Stateside, due to Billboard rules at the time, it was not eligible to chart on the Hot 100, though it managed to reach number six on the dance chart. Most remixes of "Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)" were released in the US only, although few were found in certain territories. David Morales produced the Morales club mix, which uses the song's original vocals with similar chord progressions to those of the original, and the Morales Triumphant mix, which contains re-recorded vocals and new lyrics which transform the song into a jazz-like mix with harmonica sections. Two music videos were filmed for "Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)". Both feature personal videos left by five fans, re-telling their stories of pain and emotional abuse and how the song had inspired them. Additionally, a large screen is shown next to Mariah throughout the video, playing other inspirational stories from famous athletes. The ending alternates in both videos, with one climaxing on the balcony overlooking the city, while the other by a large indoor window. It was to get into the top 5 and “Can’t Take That Away” is 32 points ahead of “Bliss”, leaving it fairly well behind. It’s the song with the seventh-lowest standard deviation and the last remaining song without a #1 ranking. It received thirteen top 5 rankings though which really helped it secure its top 5 spot. Only one person ranked it in their bottom three - George that’s you. Two of you remain with bottom three rankings still. #4. "Heartbreaker" (Remix) f/Da Brat, Missy Elliott & DJ ClueThe main “Heartbreaker” remix, titled Desert Storm Remix, features Da Brat and Missy Elliott. It is the first of Mariah’s remixes that was produced by Desert Storm Records’ DJ Clue, who makes an introduction on the remix. The remix contains lyrical interpolations and an instrumental sample from "Ain't No Fun (If the Homies Can't Have None)" by Snoop Dogg. In an interview with MTV News, Mariah spoke of the song's remix before its official release in August 1999: "And then the remix. I'm so excited about the remix. It's also gonna go on the album, and it features Missy Elliott and Da Brat, and it's kinda like a girl-power answer record, and it's to the loop of Snoop [Dogg]'s 'Ain't No Fun.' They're not ready for that one!". A separate music video was filmed for the remix, shot in black and white and featuring a cameo appearance by Snoop. In 2003, “Heartbreaker” remix would also go on to be featured on the compilation album The Remixes. Easily one of my favorite remixes in her discography and thank god y’all didn’t let it down. Well, I mean, two of you did. kmbgs and alexcuse you finally clear out your bottom three. Despite the fact that, surprisingly, “Heartbreaker” (Remix) is the song with the highest standard deviation, there was no keeping it from the top 5. In fact, only two points separate it and the song at #3. That’s due in large part to the seventeen top 5 rankings it received – including two #1 rankings. Nice work God and Linnethia Monique (two rough reveals for you in a row though boo I’m sorry)! Here is yet another version of "Heartbreaker/If You Should Ever Be Lonely". It is the unreleased dub of the Junior Vasquez Hard mix. It doesn't have any of the verses or choruses. It uses mostly high notes, ad libs, and whistle notes.

#3. "Petals"“Petals” is a ballad co-written by Mariah along with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Big Jim. Prior to the recording of Rainbow, Mariah and her sister, Alison Carey had a falling out in their relationship. Mariah wrote a song titled "Petals," which she describes as the most honest lyrics she has ever written. The song tells of Mariah’s feelings for her sister, while illustrating the pain Allison's betrayal and suffering have caused. In an interview, Mariah described the meaning of the lyrics of "Petals": It came as a bit of a surprise to me, but “Petals” is the song with the lowest standard deviation of the game. All it’s rankings were inside the top ten, in fact, all were above #8. “Petals” was ranked top five by 18 people – including two #1 rankings. alexcuse and 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾 you helped it to get into the top 3! It was ahead of #4 by just two points. It's the final showdown y'all! And it comes down to what are two of my absolute favorite Mariah songs ever.
This race was crazy exciting! The lead was changing like nobody's business.
There are seventeen #1 rankings combined within the top 2. One song has a low ranking of #10 while the other #11. One song has eighteen top five rankings and the other 21.

Poignant lyrics, the production is interesting and fits the lyrics and haunting vocals. I love everything about Petals. It's what an album track should be.
