Lie by NF is also lasting quite long despite the fact that it didn't even come close to hitting the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 while it hit #6 on AT40. Thatβs apples to oranges. AT40 doesnβt use streaming, sales or an all-encompassing format. Billboard has a Mainstream Top 40 chart which is similar to Mediabaseβs CHR chart. βLieβ hit #8 at Mainstream Top 40.

Because we have more breakouts than actual debuts. It makes no sense. I d be ok with even a song that was number 1 in the same week X amount of years prior to fill up sometime

But why? Youβre still not answering why having 5 breakouts is SO bad. Theyβre songs that are presumably active below the Top 40 - they just havenβt made it yet. Any time AT40 plays a new not-overplayed song, isnβt that a good thing? Or would you rather Ryan use that time to interview some random celebrity instead? Five Breakouts is bad because they have more Breakouts than actual show hours and I don't see either AT40 show expand to five hours anytime soon. I don't like four either but it's apparently going to be a regular thing whether I like it or not but no more than four. Ok. So why is more than one Breakout an hour a bad thing?

Ryan and the staff must really love Broken, that's why it's still here. It should of dropped off 2 months ago. Is AT40 beginning to be like Rick Dees WT40 I wouldn't go as far to compare Seacrest to Dees because at least the #1s on both CHR and HAC often always parallel what Mediabase has on there unlike Dees (who insists on having the same #1 on both shows screwing other well-deserving acts in the process). As far as "Broken" is concerned, that's really nothing compared to "Perfect" on Hot AC which should've fallen off weeks ago.

WFLZ and KIIS played all five of the Breakouts. However, it appears Z100 in New York skipped "Out Of Love".

And if AT40 wanted a fresher chart, they should never have messed with it after Casey Kasem left. Very well said. In the last year or so before Casey left AT40, recurrent songs immediately dropped off when they fell below # 20. With that method, this always kept the charts fresh. Also, Long Distance Dedications helped fill in the extra time. Casey did 3 per show. LDDs or 2 for 1 would both be better than multiple breakouts. The Casey - Ryan transition happened in my 2 favorite years of Pop Music (2003 and 2004). I hope I am able to find the year end shows for both of these years somehow.

Completely agree with the long distance dedications, return for a 2 for 1, and maybe one breakout a week. A song can only break out once . Not twice or thrice like Ryan Dees does.

^ I found the long distance dedications boring especially when so many people requested the same song, Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion.

I have the entire 2003 Year-end posted on my channel but I just noticed the Top 50 disappeared. I need to research what happened.

LDDβs were nice in my opinion. 2 For 1 was as well. My prediction for the debut/breakout/OTV nonsense is: Damn leaves OTV and is never played again. Last Hurrah and Low Key debut. Out of Love and Donβt Call Me Up go OTV. The 3 new breakouts: When The Partyβs Over, Woke Up Late, and Here With Me. Maybe Talk or I Canβt Get Enough. Iβm not sure. Again 5 breakouts is weird because they will never work and OTV forever but OK.

FYI I've been informed that Pete Wentz will be subbing for Ryan this coming weekend (3/30 - 3/31) so one thing is certain. The op extras will be all Fall Out Boy songs.
Kinda rare AT40 goes the sub host route without advance notice (no standard "if you have questions for ______, please send them on Twitter or call us blah blah blah.").

I bet you that there will still be "questions from fans" for him somehow.

They mentioned Pete Wentz on social media earlier this week. It was Instagram or Facebook or Twitter. I can't remember.
