This has to be one of the dumbest songs to hit #1. I'm going to assume you haven't heard (or have forgotten) Sun Daze by FGL

Just noticed this had the highest "favorite" rating on the Mediabase callout chart last week, 29%, so I guess I can forgive the high negatives if this is one of those songs that's really polarizing but has enough passionate supporters to make up for the passionate haters. Two weeks at #1 still feels a little funny given how long this took to climb the charts, but whatever. (As .indulgecountry noted, Justin Moore's record took about four months longer to climb the charts, which is a fair point, but Justin's graded on a bit of a curve because he's a C-lister and his songs always take 35-45 weeks to climb the charts. So it's really roughly a wash whose single was bigger.) Of course, someone was bound to get two weeks at #1 anyway between Luke, Justin and Dierks. Sales are a little low for a Luke Bryan lead single, which may be why no album has been released yet, but what's done is done. (Trying to consider all possible metrics of a hit to be fair to the folks who got fed up with my posts a few weeks ago, lol.) I guess this just feels like one of those songs that wouldn't have even charted if it weren't recorded by someone with a lot of name recognition, and I've started to notice this pattern with a lot of Luke Bryan's music. Radio almost seems to be playing his music just because. We talk a lot about the lack of females at country radio, and maybe if artists like Luke Bryan didn't hog so many spins by releasing so much generic radio fodder just for the sake of releasing music, some more unique artists like Tenille Townes, Ingrid Andress, Lindsay Ell, Caylee Hammack, Caroline Jones, and other females who have struggled to break out, would be given a better chance to shine. Sometimes it feels like Bryan's just recording anything the label brings to him for the sake of making money off his name because he's the label's breadwinner and they need to make as much cash off of him as possible to pay for all the heavy promotion they invest in trying to break newer artists like Jordan Davis. Same with several other of the big name acts in the format. Jason Aldean's new single, for example, feels like a retread of the same song he's done seventeen times before. I'm thinking, why is he even bothering to release this? Why do we need to hear this? One thing I respect about artists like Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt, and a few others is that they only record music when they have something to say, or have written or found songs that they really like and want their audiences to hear. I wish more artists would do this. Maybe the charts wouldn't be so crowded. Maybe it's just my personal opinion of the music clouding my judgment. Who knows? Lol.

^^this^^
Jason Aldean came out the same year(2005) as both Carrie and Miranda. He is releasing 9th(!) album in november. Miranda is about to release her 7th and Carrie is currently on her 6th. (If you want to count her GH album she is on her 7th). Jason is on a pace of roughly an album every 18 months, Carrie and Miranda are pretty much right at 2 yrs or a little longer. Although if you look at it, this decade Miranda has only released albums in 2011, 2014, 2016, & 2019 coming very soon. Carrie is 2012, 2014(GH), 2015, & 2018. Aldean meanwhile...2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, and now coming soon 2019. We definitely don't need or want that much of him especially when he's releasing garbage like "we back"
Luke hasn't been quite that bad. He has albums released in 2011, 2013, 2015, & 2017 and unknown at this point when the next is coming. Kinda looks like he may actually break his every 2 year streak he has going lol
Unless....we count his spring break albums, then he is probably as bad as aldean haha

Took a little longer than usual to peak for a Luke Bryan lead single, but this still wound up being his biggest hit in at least 4 years (dating back to 2015 with "Kick the Dust Up"/"Strip It Down").

Miranda also has 3 pistol annie albums Yeah, but, i never heard any of it on radio, at least where i live, except for the highway, so....should it really count? 🤷♂️ so your complaint is really about frequency of singles rather than albums? Otherwise, why shouldn't Miranda's bloated last record count twice? And Luke's taken breaks between album singles.... so it's really about Jason not taking a break on singles this time around?

Who else finds it strange that this song is peaking and there’s no mention of an album or could he be trying the singles approach like Blake?

My only issue is with jason aldean, shoving the same old crap down our throats for the last several years now and for reasons i don't understand people still love him. I don't get it. I didn't care for knockin boots but in general i don't mind luke bryan. Hopefully his next single will be better.

Seems like holding off on albums until after a second single is becoming more and more common (Blake, both Lukes, Carrie, Keith, Old Dominion, etc.). It's just the way things are shifting now in the current streaming over sales climate. It's also why we see a lot of artists releasing a good 4 or 5 songs before the album drops.

This article explains how Luke is approaching new music (there will be an album, but it will have less tracks than usual). I also got the impression that with less tracks, there will be less time between albums as well, but I could be mistaken.
