I absolutely love this. This and "Down to the Honkytonk" are some of the best singles of his entire career imo. Very happy with the music he's putting out right now. He's really on quite a roll since changing labels. I couldn't agree any more. I absolutely love "Homemade". It's a fantastic song and it sounds like an absolute smash to me. I really hope this ends up being as big as "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" and "Beachin'" were for him, and I think it's definitely within the realm of possibility.

This is great. This could and should be his biggest hit in a long time.

This is great. This could and should be his biggest hit in a long time. Which would say something given that his last two singles were big for him.

I'm fairly confident this will pick up the pace eventually, but damn its frustrating to see a great song like this tread water the way it has so far. This should be zooming up the charts.

Man, he sure is easy on the eyes. If this is denoted as the 'trailer version,' I wonder if that means there's a longer video with dialogue coming out in the future then? I loved the theme and time period/setting they went for with this. Definitely not what I expected from hearing the song, but it works imo.

The single picks from this album so far have been incredible! That extended music video left me in tears. That's the kind of love I'm patiently waiting for. A beautiful beautiful love story.

"Homemade" has been getting some nice conversions the past couple of days it seems, it has moved up from #17 to #13 on the latest published update with a bullet close to 500 (on today's rolling update the bullet is 502 which is the third biggest bullet on the chart behind "The Bones" and "Beer Can't Fix").
I think this song has a really strong melody and the "home made" and "homemade"s in the chorus is a really nice touch too. I like most of Jake Owen's output so it's not surprising that I like this - hoping this can put him back at #1 after "Down to the Honkytonk" fell short.

Is it just me or did this song take way too long to take off?
Maybe it's just the fact that Down to the Honkytonk literally peaked a week after the album came out and then they didn't release this until late summer of 2019 (The album came out in March).
So maybe Jake's team did a bad timing job, but it just seemed like we went way too long from the album release and a new song brewing on the radio. I've only heard this song a few times driving around in the past few weeks, but before that Jake seemed completely silent for nearly 6 months even though he had just released an album.
Anyways, I'm glad this bad timing didn't mess with the success of this song (hopefully).

This song taking off a little slower made sense because Jake Owen never became an A-lister, so he's always subject to slightly slower climbs with few exceptions, and "Homemade" hasn't been something that's moved the needle much throughout its run. I'm glad that radio is converting it now and it looks like it should turn into another top 5 hit for him, but it's disappointing that it's not the huge smash I wanted it to be based on just how good it is. This one seems to just be kinda "there" for most of the general public, sadly.

Yeah this song is probably a lock for Top 5, but this song has been very underwhelming sales and streaming wise (evident by it's #25 peak on the Hot Country Songs Chart) as the only songs in the Top 25 on Mediabase that are selling worse are "In Between", "Dive Bar" and "One Big Country Song". This song is kind of a reverse of "Down To The Honky-Tonk" as this song has pretty low sales but doing well with radio callout I assume. I will say even if this song does hit #1, it is probably gonna be forgotten by a majority of country music fans within the next couple of years.

Down to the Honkytonk really slowed down within a month of the album release, and I literally hadn't heard from him on radio for over 6 months. Granted, there's only 1 country station I know of here in NYC so take this with a grain of salt. It's entirely possible that my station just picked it up later than everyone else. Not to mention the fact I am much less knowledgeable than you when it comes to this stuff so I'll concede that fact. Anyways, I do like the song and both videos only make me come back to it even more!

Looking at the chart highlights this seems as if it’s going to be the second biggest mover within the top 40 tonight on Billboard as it jumped 4 spots from 18-14.

Not to sound uber depressing, but does anyone else get a lonely kind of feeling watching the video?
I mean it's great that the video is able to invoke such a strong emotion but I just think, "Damn, they truly had it good."
Anyways, back to my lonely life!

"Homemade" officially enters the Mediabase Top 10 at #10 with a bullet of 427. This song is a probable lock for #1 and if it moves quick enough I could see it blocking Luke Bryan's latest since their isn't much of a gap between the two (Only a few hundred in spins and pretty even in audience)

I'm surprised and glad that this ended up becoming a hit after all. I wish everything on country radio didn't move so damn slow, because "Made for You" is a hit that will probably never be released because of how long "Homemade" took to take off.

I wish everything on country radio didn't move so damn slow, because "Made for You" is a hit that will probably never be released because of how long "Homemade" took to take off. Obviously chances aren't great, but since the album was released less than a year ago, if Jake Owen has no new music on the horizon (I don't think he does) I can see them going for "Made For You" as the fourth single and as kind of a filler final album track. I do hate how long country radio songs takes especially when some singles/artists are not meant to take off ("Make Me Want To", LoCash and Travis Denning all together, "In Between", "Make Me Want To", "Dive Bar") but radio sticks with the songs for way too long and causes actual songs that are radio friendly/connecting (this, "More Hearts Than Mine", "Chasin You", "Catch") to take a lot longer than they should.

From what I see on the charts only Garth "Dive Bar" and Jimmie Allen "Make Me Want To" are ahead of "More Hearts Than Mine", "Chasin You" and "Catch" . LoCash "One Big Country Song, Travis Denning "After A Few" and Scotty McCreery "In Between" are below your chosen songs so why would it bother anybody if these songs are still on the charts. Any particular reasons? Being in top 20/30, I believe they have done fairly well. In some way they have taken off. Just wondering, because this was brought up about the same 3 artists/songs 5 or 6 times in the last couple weeks (different posts, different days). As far as I'm concerned I hope those 3 songs go as far as they can.

As far as I'm concerned I hope those 3 songs go as far as they can. Sorry for bringing it up a lot. I probably won't bring up those songs again in regards to their chart performance for the next few weeks, since I have been doing it a lot lately and it is probably annoying a lot of posters, since their are only so many ways to say a song is not doing great. I will say for me as one final time until further notice I find it telling that country radio isn't very interested in say "After A Few" by Travis Dennong since that song went for adds a year ago this Tuesday and in that time frame has only made it up to #17 on Mediabase and just now entering the Top 20 on Billboard. Or Ryan Hurd, Scotty McCreery, and LoCash all taking 40+ weeks just to hit the Top 25, if this was even ten years ago I am pretty sure none of these songs would have made it past the Top 40. But if you like all these songs and want them to make it even farther and want them to succeed more power to you.

This song has been one of the worst selling songs on the chart for most of its run, so I'm not sure why it theoretically deserved to go up the charts any more or faster than other low impacts singles like "After a Few," "In Between," "Make Me Want To," or "To a T," i.e. Jake Owen is obviously a bigger name and was coming off two pretty sizable hits that connected pretty well, and I LOVE "Homemade," but this song is not going to be all that remembered down the line. I'm still rather perplexed at how poorly its impact was with the general public, and I'm definitely not complaining about radio overlooking it in this case because of my love for this song, but it's disappointing it wasn't the smash career hit for him I'd hoped it would be when I first heard it.

I'm glad that this has done so well for Jake, but surprised that it took so long to break out. I imagine that it will crack Billboard's top 10 this week, extending his total to 11 top 10s.

Kinda weird, this song about to hit #1, meanwhile Down to the Honkytonk peaked at #7(i think) and feels like the much bigger hit At any rate, i love both songs and am happy Jake will have another #1, i still say he is the most underrated male out there. Well, between Jake and Dierks Bentley imo

I'm really curious to see if they go with a 4th single from this album or move on to new material. I also wonder if the current virus epidemic plays any factor in that decision? I guess technically its not a bad time to release new music or a brand new single since people will have time to listen, but I imagine the promo rollout for the new song would be severely hampered. If they do go with a 4th single, "Catch A Cold One" seems like a safe summer type song, but I also hear hit potential in "In It"

It looks like "Made For You" is getting released as the fourth single from the album. Obviously I don't know, but my prediction is that with the current situation, we'll see artists go deeper in their current album cycles than they normally would have. I imagine that it will be really difficult to launch a new project in the next little while. We may have a better idea if the new Sam Hunt, Ashley McBryde, Dixie Chicks, etc. albums get released as planned. Otherwise, I would say that right now a safer bet might be to try to push something from an existing album, rather than launch a completely new project. We'll see what happens though.
