I know there are albums in the "Streaming Era" that went #1 on BB200 but haven't went even Gold. Is there a song that went #1 on Hot 100 and isn't Platinum in the Streaming era ? - This seems impossible to me because of the way the chart works, but maybe there is an exception.

Assuming "The Box" will be the year-end #1, it will be the first since 2000 to have missed the top 5 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart.

Assuming "The Box" will be the year-end #1, it will be the first since 2000 to have missed the top 5 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart. As well as the top 5 of the whole Radio Songs/Hot 100 Airplay chart.
Actually, it would also be the first year-end #1 to miss the weekly top 5 of BOTH the radio chart and the sales chart (Digital Song Sales/Hot 100 Single Sales) ever since Nielsen began tracking this info in 1991, thus being the first year-end #1 overwhelmingly driven by streaming and a sign that this is definitely the most prominent form of music consumption now.

The Box is only the 3rd song to spend 10 or more weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 without going top 10 at Pop radio . the others being I'll Be Missing You and Candle In The Wind both from 1997.

^ Wow, didn't realize I'll Be Missing You never went top 10 at pop, it seemed like it would have been bigger. It came close though, at #11.

I don't understand why radio isn't playing more uplifting songs during this time, such as Better Days by OneRepublic. It is very radio friendly. OneRepublic deserve a top 40 hit with it.

Ah you’re talking about that run. But Harlem Shake is also a candidate.

Imagine if TIA was less than 2 years old, then it could’ve returned for the week of Blackout Tuesday, albeit on a low ranking

Okay, bit of a weird question: can anyone please DM me the chart years for 1989-2015? Like the first and last weeks they lasted? This isn’t for a Hot 100 chart per say but I’m pretty sure every Billboard chart uses the same tracking year, right?

Anyone know what #1 song has the fewest charting weeks on Hot 100 in the Streaming age ? Whatever the answer used to be, there is a new leader in the category shortest time on the Hot 100 for a number one song.
TROLLZ drops from #1 to off the chart in a mere four weeks. That’s gonna be a hard record to ever break.

TROLLZ managed to beat this by more than 4 to 1.
Impressive by the #1 song that didn't deserve to be in top 10.

Continued from main thread:
Really hope an Eminem & Rihanna collab isn't on the way. Have you heard "Love the Way You Lie" recently? It aged terribly. The melody and production were what saved it from those god-awful lyrics ten years ago, but yikes it sounds horrible now. Especially that sparkly chime thing after each chorus.
And "The Monster" just straight up sucked from day one.

Most people will welcome their collab. But it is just speculation, and from a not so reliable source (because the account has posted false stuff in the past 2 years about various Eminem drops).
