Did the panel decrease or something? Only four of the top 20 songs are bulleted.
edit: I just checked my last two copies of R&R, and it shows 81 reporters in both those issues, as well as in the latest Mediabase "stations monitored" page.

Geez, now it's just three. A lot of songs below the top 20 are increasing, but with the exception of Nickelback's next single, and Staind's new one, doesn't seem like a lot are moving up all that much.

Well, WHFS had special programming for Thanksgiving weekend, where they played blocks from various artists alphabetically. It looks like the gold chart has lots of bullets, so probably other stations also dug into their libraries over the weekend.

I was thinking the same thing, except you'd think Pop would be more likely to do something like that than Alternative, although there doesn't seem to be much of a slowdown over there.

Now almost all the songs are gaining. Of course, that's probably due to whatever it was that caused the songs to slow down becoming just about a week old today. (I made the topic on December 3.)

This chart is really all over the place. I'm glad it's back to normal, only to be suspended in 2 more weeks (for the two-week Christmas break). Oh well.

What's up with Jet looking like a number 1 all of the sudden. Did being in those ipod commercials really help that much? I think we got some more under-the-table cash exchange here.

What's up with Jet looking like a number 1 all of the sudden. Did being in those ipod commercials really help that much? I think we got some more under-the-table cash exchange here. I knew all along that Jet's debut single would be a smash. It sounds just like raw, straight-forward alternative rock without the use of heavy production. In addition, VH1 has put their video into "Inside Track" status, and it is leaking into other formats just like Maroon 5's "Harder To Breathe" did (despite not peaking nearly as high on Alternative). Triple A is getting a hold of it now, and got quite a handful of adds this past week. I can actually see Jet get added to Hot AC eventually, and if they get their fortune there, CHR/Pop. I seriously don't see Jet getting payolaed here. It is just the type of song Alternative is looking for. They have that White Stripes/Chili Peppers sound, which both artists have impacted the format this year. Jet surely has potential to go #1. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I can see "Cold Hard Bitch" and "Rollover DJ" being smashes here as well.

I hate the Jet song. It just sounds kinda annoying now. I mean, I didn't even know they were a "garage band" until I was told so. But it's like, "Oh, look at us, we're not using fancy production." Not that every song needs fancy production, but they sure could have improved on this song. The lead singer's voice is annoying. I remember initially mistaking him for Dexter Holland of The Offspring. Of course, that wasn't too long-lived, but if only the rest of the band could've matched him.
And now it's going to be #1? I hope not. Three Days Grace and Blink-182 are way more deserving. Heck, even "Perfect" by Simple Plan is more deserving of #1 on alternative.
And I'm not sure about this song "Cold Hard Bitch". I haven't heard it, but it's probably either going to be really good, or really disgustingly annoying, even more so than this one.

What was the second song they did on "Saturday Night Live" last night? I know the first one was "AYGBMG".

I won't disagree with you there. I didn't like it very much at first, but I do now. But the reason I'm saying this is because the song didn't seem to have that high of a ceiling for several weeks, and now it's all of the sudden one of the greatest gainers. Anytime I see sudden unexpected momentum swings on the chart, in either direction, I suspect it to be all about the paper.
