J IS FOR JUNE...
AND JONAS
Happiness Begins, the first Jonas Brothers album in a decade, has arrived. Prognosticators in the know think the project, which just dropped via Republic, could reach as high as 300k in its first week of release. Stay tuned for updates. The Happiness Begins Tour includes two nights at NYC's Madison Square Garden (8/29-30), as well as a pair at L.A.'s Hollywood Bowl (10/20-21). A full list of dates can be found here. The brothers' brand new documentary, Chasing Happiness, is available to watch now on Prime Video—or Gary Spangler's big screen, where it remains on loop. hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=316713

300k? Wow I was not expecting that figure at all. Good for them.

Ticket album bundles as well as merchandise album bundles are involved in those predictions, which makes sense.

Any news of Avicii's sales? I know his first day was Thursday so it might be a little low.

My daughter is a JoBro fanatic. She’s bought tickets to at least two of the three Toronto shows and two more In Chicago Because there are ticket bundles, she will be responsible for four of those album sales.

Based on very early reads, Republic's Jonas Brothers are on track for a boffo #1 bow for their new set, Happiness Begins, which accompanies the documentary about the group now airing on Amazon.
Jonas Brothers (Republic) 325-350k total activity, 285-310k album
Could the Bros challenge labelmate Ariana Grande for the year's biggest first week? Stay tuned.
This is the boys' first full-length in almost exactly a decade; their Lines, Vines & Trying Times debuted at #1 with 255k in late June of 2009.
The lads' "Sucker" has been an outta-the-park smash, hitting #1 at Pop radio and streaming/selling up a storm. It remains in the Top 10 on both the Spotify U.S. and Global charts as well as at iTunes, where the album is #1. Their big ol' tour kicks off in August.
Well have more early numbers for you as soon as the drugs kick in.

All eggs in the basket it seems! Good for them even though the streaming numbers for the album are not through the roof (3 songs in top 20 on Spotify).

Word has it another Billboard chart rule may affect the Jonas Brothers’ total on this week’s chart, on which they’ll have a decisive #1. We’re told that the JoBros are on track to do as much as 340-360k in total activity in their debut week. Their new Republic album, Happiness Begins, is bundled with tickets for their giant tour; the rule is a maximum four tickets/albums per transaction. But some of the bundle packages offer eight tickets with albums attached. So some ticket bundles may end up being excluded. We hasten to add that this will not change the Jonas lads’ #1 chart position, only their total. Still, since they’re in the running for top debut of the year and need at least 360k to knock labelmate Ariana Grande off that perch, it’s not irrelevant. Still, without a battle for #1, there won’t be nearly as much drama surrounding the Bible’s rule as there was around the Tyler-Khaled contest—the chart story that won’t go away. How long, though, before the ticket limit is the difference between a #1 and #2 debut?

I didn't know Billboard had a rule of four tickets/albums per transaction- that's sensible. Also, what's the deal with merch bundles? Are they like tickets, where the consumer has to take action to obtain the album?

^It is interesting that they would have that rule to limit numbers, given that albums need all the help they can to get better numbers

Where did Ariana's album go? I can't believe it would have dropped out of the top 20.

^Yeah, they forgot when they posted the article original. I didn't notice that since I posted the article just before leaving work, but having ASIB OST possibly within the top 20 didn't feel right, but I don't give it a second thought.

Billie at #2 is crazy. What are the chances of her album being #1 Year-End?

Billie at #2 is crazy. What are the chances of her album being #1 Year-End? If Adele doesn't drop and Taylor doesn't bundle her way to a huge first week, I think that it's pretty likely.

Target just sent out an email blast with the following: Pre-order the 4 deluxe versions of Taylor Swift's upcoming album LOVER with tons of exclusive extras, only at Target. Plus, get a $5 gift card, when you pre-order all 4 deluxe versions.

Taylor at least brings something new into the convo besides having different covers and maybe a couple scrapped Target exclusive tracks. She's definitely coming for 1 million+ come September 6 chart
