Interesting strategy. Promote all artists to the maximum extent, rather than re-distributing success to label mates. There will be competition within the label. Just like it should be. Natural selection. Free market.
Luke will get his third week. Then, maybe Old Dominion can knock him out in the fourth week.

Well "Even Though I'm Leaving" just lost its bullet and the bullet "One Man Band" for has inflated up to 400+, so it's probably safe to assume that Old Dominion is taking the #1 on MB this week unless Luke puts up some spin gains. On Billboard Luke might get another week at #1 - so that probably opens the way for Thomas to push next week to coincide with him co-hosting CCUSA.

Based on the most recent Country Aircheck, "Remember You Young" is going for max spins starting this Sunday, while "We Were" looks to go for max spins this week.

Yeah. Sony and Big Machine clearly have different ways of thinking.
We just saw Sony push Luke Combs for three weeks at the expense of labelmate Old Dominion. "One Man Band" will still get its week, but clearly the logic is to let both songs get played as much as possible and have both label divisions do their best at promotion, allowing the true biggest hit to win.
Big Machine, on the other hand, appears to want to redistribute the success. They'll max Thomas Rhett next week when clearly "Remember You Young" has a lot more gas left in the tank. The logic is to get rid of Thomas as soon as possible so Lady Antebellum can max before Christmas. The label is fine with both getting one week at #1.
Goodman's strategy is more like "natural selection." Survival of the fittest. Let all songs duke it out, regardless of label affiliation, and the best hit wins. Borchetta's strategy is to treat the label as a family, or a team, and use one artist's success to help another act grow. Sony can afford to do this when it has all the big hitmakers, as it does now. Big Machine doesn't have as many breadwinners, so they really have to try their best to help the little guys like Lady Antebellum. In a more natural world, Thomas would get the holiday shutdown, not Dustin. Old Dominion would max this week, and then Thomas would be #1 for the next three or four weeks.

Lol, "Remember You Young" has been a nice hit for Thomas Rhett but it certainly doesn't deserve 3-4 weeks at #1. It has not acted like a huge multi-week #1 hit, especially at the cost of letting Lady Antebellum hit the top with a song that has been as big, if not bigger. Maybe with better timing, RYY could've had like a 2-week stay at the top, but the massive continued success of anything Luke Combs touches coupled with Old Dominion getting their biggest hit to date is more of a factor in it having less time at the top than Lady Antebellum, which is more than deserving of a week at #1 imo.

That's kind of proving my point. It's all part of the promotion strategy. The reason "Remember You Young" doesn't look like a big hit is because the label has been allowing it to work its way up the charts on its own, with little promotion. They've been siphoning off some spins for Lady Antebellum, who is being pushed much harder. It's all about redistributing the spins.

The Lady Antebellum tune has basically been out-performing Thomas Rhett's song for their entire runs, with the exception of it taking their song longer to move up the charts due to their current status at country radio vs. his. This is not a song that has acted like it 'deserves' anything more than a single week at the top, and certainly not 3-4. This is no "Die a Happy Man."

Frankly, I’m on team Lady A. I like their song way better than this. Thomas has just been really dull for me lately. I’m happy to see them both get a solid week at the top. Hopefully Lady A can snag the Billboard.

This could actually be his first airplay #1 single that did not hit top half on Hot 100, because Christmas freeze would cut a lot of its audience if it peaks during Christmas week, and there are a lot of Christmas songs in top 50.

It’ll probably jump back up in January after all of the Christmas songs leave. It happened last year with “Speechless” (#24, +17) “She Got the Best of Me” (#31, +23), “Best Shot” (#37, +24), “Drunk Me” (#39, +25), “Sixteen” (#42, +37), “Burning Man” (#45, +35), etc.

That would imply it drops like "Look What God Gave Her" after it peaks, and I don't think it will fall anywhere near that fast.

Any idea what the next single will/should be? I'd really like "Notice." It really has "Unforgettable" vibes.

“Notice” should be next, I see that being the biggest hit this album cycle. That should peak by end of May at latest, allowing “Beer Can’t Fix” to be the song of summer next.
The truth is though they could release almost anything on this song and it would be a hit. “That Old Truck”, “Sand”, “Things You Do For Love”, “Center Point Road” and “Don’t Stop Drivin’”, I could see all of those doing well.

I want Notice, Beer Can't Fix and Center Point Road... so the singles will probably be This Old Truck, Sand and VHS.

This is a good song, but it's burned on me rather quickly. I just don't see how this is that different from "Die a Happy Man." That's not a bad thing. DAHM is an awesome song. But this one just doesn't feel quite as unique. It's catchy. The lyrics are sweet, but it just feels like we've heard this story already. Really looking forward to the next single, and hoping it's "Notice" as I said above.

#1 on Mediabase this week! It’s crazy how “Even Though I’m Leaving” is #2 and about 600 spins behind it.
Next week will most likely go to “Ridin’ Roads” unless something funky happens.

I'll say this. If the label wants to push for a second week at #1 they absolutely could. The gap between Thomas Rhett and Dustin Lynch is large enough for Big Machine to get another week for "Remember You Young". Doubt they will push for a second week but I wish they would.

In addition to being #1 with “Remember You Young”, Thomas enters at #55 with “Christmas In The Country” on the Airplay chart.

I'm not so sure this'll be #1 for a second week, it'll be close between this and "Even Though I'm Leaving".

I think it should be good for a second week at #1 on MB based on how daily spins are trending, on Billboard I think Luke Combs might back into #1.
