(Just release "She Loves Control"!
It's more radio-friendly and has served well worldwide with zero promotion, yes, organically.)

Maybe she'll debut a new single at the AmA's?? Would be silly to perform this after she snubbed it at SNL and it’s peaked.

Maybe she'll debut a new single at the AmA's?? That's the smart thing to do, but we will have to wait and see what happens.

I was thinking they just put a 6-7 track EP including the 4 songs and then start fresh in spring of next year. Exactly. She could pull it off too. Her promo is keeping her in the public eye, Señorita was a big hit... just come back next year with better material. Radio will still embrace her - she just needs a better single. Also, she’s singing a lot about heartbreak in these songs while portraying this very public happy relationship. She should focus on material that’s more relevant for her, IMO. She’s proven she can bring out sexy, dance ready music. I’d focus on that lane for now. The only way I see her getting a hit single at this point is to “break up” with Shaun Mendez and then talk about it in her music. I’m sure the label is already plotting this for her as we all suspected the relationship was fake. But at this point nothing else is going to work.

I hadn’t looked at it that way, but you may be right. This feels true. The only thing to do now is wait and see if she can pull off a reset at the AMAs.

My guess is that the next single will either be Cry For Me or a new song.

Breaking up a relationship to POTENTIALLY regain success... Whaaa...? Discussing that feels disgraceful Next single is definitely something new but honestly after what they have already done it wouldn't be a shock if they sent Cry For Me to radio

I- I love Cry For Me (as I mentioned 495 times before and well it's well-known I love Camila) but it was released well over a month ago and they wasted a SNL performance on it, it has no momentum so sending it would be (another) huge misstep I bet the fans and the GP would be pleased if the next single is something fresh

Oh no there you go...
In all honesty and trolling aside, this song deserved better. The push was kind of half-assed tho.

If they hadn't done a dual release and pushed this 100% from the get go, I firmly believe it would have at least made top 10 on pop. They really bungled her rollout.

Yeah, I mean, I get that streaming has changed the music landscape, but I'm not sure releasing multiple songs at once and then using performance spots for random other songs is the best choice... Like, imagine if they had built up to this more like Dua Lupa (which felt like much more of a traditional push). Or, hell, just performed this on SNL lol.

A solo push, performing on SNL, radio promo, AMA performance, etc. This could have done more if they used all these opportunities to stay focused on “Liar”. However I still stand by the fact people didn’t love the vocals on this and it had an uphill battle from the start. I’m kinda in that category. I like the production and her, but the voice grates on me. I still think they could have started off with CFM as the lead. I worry if these are the strongest 4 songs on the album.

I don’t even think it was the dual release... it was not picking one for radio immediately after that first weeki, then releasing 2 more songs before Liar was firmly established. They could have spun Liar as the radio song and Shamless as the one to show off her “growth as an artist”. Then maybe start releasing more songs in the run up to the album release. This approach just confused everything since no song got a chance to really stand out and take hold.

I've lowkey had this theory that Camila and/or her team wanted 'Shameless' to be the focus track of the two, and everything that's gone on since is one long, drawn out dummy spit over not getting her/their way. Like, would she have dropped another pair of tracks so soon to muddy the water if 'Shameless' had been the focus track? Would she have actually performed it on SNL instead of the two randomly-dropped non-singles?
Of course, I get the 'it's been so long I wanna share as much new music with you as possible' angle but if she/they really wanted 'Shameless' to be the single they could've just released that on its own to live or die without providing radio/fans a second track as an alternative.

I agree I think they were hoping "Shameless" would take off as well. Not that I liked it more but it did sound more like a 1st single than "Liar" does. It's a little different for her and sounded more like an "event" record than "Liar" did. Now the SNL promo was a mess.... Why she didn't sing "Liar" I'll never know if they had intentions to go with it as the main single..... I thought they were going to see which one caused more of a splash and go with that one but apparently not. I say debut a new single at the AmA's and call it a day. On a sidenote a poster mentioned her not being able to get a hit w/out breaking up with Shawn. I don't agree she just needs a good song. She has a label that seems to be behind her and to the general public I doubt they noticed she released 4 songs that underperformed/didn't take off or never had any intentions of being a single. The girl is in her early 20's and is very driven. I don't think she needs to break up with anyone for attention to get a hit..

Yeah I think they did want Shameless as the main single and did the dual release as they thought it was already normal for Camila to drop like that (which is just stupid) Welp Shameless tanked and Liar began what they did with the other two tracks ... I Don't know

I also think that releasing two songs at once wasn’t bad (like Ed sort of has done). That wasn’t the whole case, though. She had a popular duet blazing the charts, two featuring collaborations with medium, non-negligible popularity, and then on top of all this she released two other songs and performed them live. That was a big mess. Now I wonder if there’ll be a follow-up article to that one highlighting that Camila was the first ever artist to debut two songs in pop radio the same week, blah blah and blah
