Many consider this song to be the start of the Disco era. I disagree. it was considered the first disco song by some since the song initially flopped when released as a single in early 1974 . as time went on it became popular in New York clubs which caused radio to take notice and by July it reached #1. there were certainly many disco songs before that happened but they became hits in more traditional ways.
