This might be the only choice here that I kind of regret. I really like this song, sure, but "Uptight Downtown" was right there, and I REALLY like that one.

#23 does not have one of the ten lowest standard deviations, but it's right on the cusp. This is the second song to spend time in the top ten, after "Generals and Majors", but it spent less time in the top half than "Generals and Majors" did. Like "Generals and Majors" before it, however, it nearly fell into the bottom ten at one point. It had a bit of a boost late, however, which prevented it from making that fateful fall.
Nine top half rankings, the lowest remaining total, will see themselves out, and just three posters will also lose a top ten, though two are top fives. Five bottom tens will see themselves...in(?), on the other hand, and though a mere two are bottom fives, one decided that this song was worth a #40.

Here's another of the more...questionable choices for this rankdown, but I thought it was pop enough to warrant its inclusion here.
Sorry about taking this before you could include it in a rankdown, singingrulebritannia.

Given how well the song at #22 started this rankdown, it's more than a little surprising that it ended up outside of the top half. It spent a handful of movements in the top ten, and it spent a loooooong time in the top 15. It wasn't in the bottom half until late in the rankdown, but once it fell into the bottom ten, it stayed there.
Eleven top half rankings and six top tens are going to have a bit of an issue with this reveal, though this is also one of the last songs to have no top fives. This song's heart was broken by seven bottom tens, more than half residing in the bottom five. Oh, and yes, there's another #40 here, too.

There was at least one point where this song had one of the ten highest standard deviations. That makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

#21 not only closes out the set with the ninth lowest standard deviation, it also closes out the set by missing out on the top half by a single point. After a bit of a slow start, this song pushed its way into the top half for a little while. It hovered in and out of the top half at the end of the rankdown, just barely finding itself on the outside looking in at the very end.
Thirteen top half rankings are going mobile, while four posters can see their top tens for miles. Two top fives, in particular, won't get fooled again. Meanwhile, four bottom tens will know what it's like to be the bad man, with two bottom fives deciding that this song ain't for keeping.

This song particularly hurt me to rank bottom ten. I will always contend that Karen Carpenter had one of the greatest, most soothing voices in all of popular music. I get how someone could argue that Karen and Richard's music was schmaltzy, but it was worth it to hear that voice.

My 40 is still in. I don't hate it at all, I just think it's underwhelming compared to the rest of the list, and sadly, it's from an artist who's last song I heard from an RD I absolutely loved.

30. Rina Sawayama - Cherry This song was not bad at all. I just had a hard time placing it above songs I already knew and loved.
29. Empress Of - When I'm With Him Same as above. She has nice vocals, but the production is perhaps a bit tooooooooo modern Pop sounding for me
28. Jackson 5 - The Love You Save PULSE not upgrading a song with the Jackson name attached to it. That's appalling. :o The song was fun for me, and it almost made my top 10. . I bet you didn't know Stevie B. borrowed a little from it for his hit "Stop The Love".
27. Tegan and Sara - Faint of Heart Song falls right where it should. It's a nice lite synthpop song that could have used a bit more BPMs. It's a good song that falls in the range of songs I enjoyed
26. XTC - Generals and Majors I figured some might find the whistling part a bit too much, but I thought it added charm to the song.
25. Ellie Goulding - Goodness Gracious At this rate I'll clear my top 20 before we reach the top 20. Anyway, This is one of the songs from her that I really enjoyed.
24. La Roux - In for the Kill I could have upgraded this one a bit, but didn't find the space for it in my top 20.
23. Sister Sledge - Lost in Music Good spot for the song. It has that classic Disco feel of late 70's.
22. Elton John - Philadelphia Freedom Perfect spot for it. I swear some Elton John songs sound like a great big party.
21. Carpenters - We've Only Just Begun I'm not a fan of this band , and this song was as boring as music can get. Still there is even one that is even more boring that this. My #40.

How about a set reveal down to the top ten? Sound good?
The top half kicks off with a bang, as #20 will reveal the song with the eighth highest standard deviation. Slightly less than half of the participants ranked this song in their top half, but six of those eleven top half rankings are top tens, and half can be found in the top five. Someone will also be the first (and not the last) to lose a #1 tonight. What really hurt this song were its six bottom tens and two bottom fives.

More than any other song, this is actually the performance that made me the happiest, even with it sitting just outside of my top half. After a couple years of being unsure of whether or not I actually really liked her, this song convinced me that, yes, I do actually like Britney Spears a decent amount...even if we've hit some speed bumps along the way.
My condolences, .indulgecountry.

#19 spent a good chunk of time in the top ten, and it spent even longer in the top half. It fell out of the top half late in the rankdown, only to push itself up enough to get back into the top half and stay there at the end.
Once again, eleven top half rankings are next in line, with five top tens and two top fives leading the charge. The resistance is led by six bottom tens, including two bottom fives. One is a pretty low bottom five.

#18 brings us a fairly low standard deviation. How low? How about the third lowest SD? This spent the first half (and a little more) of the rankdown fighting to push itself into the top half. It had a bit of a hiccup once it did get into the top half, but, once it re-entered the top half, it stayed there.
More than half of the rankdown participants (thirteen, in total) pushed to make this song a top half song, with five posters also losing a top ten. This song is noteworthy for being the last to not have a single top five. This song also came close to having no bottom tens, but two high bottom tens just had to ruin that.

Britney is another one I thought might be in my top 10 until I actually made my list. It's my fave Blackout single absolutely, but that album hasn't aged well for me.
