And now U2 stand alone as the kings of Billboard AAA. "Atomic City" becomes their 14th #1, and their first since 2017's "You're the Best Thing About Me." This breaks their tie with Coldplay. Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson are the only two other artists with at least 10 AAA #1s. U2's streak of chart-toppers stretches back to 1997, the second year of AAA's existence. Previous #1s are: - "Staring at the Sun" (1997)
- "Beautiful Day" (2000)
- "Stuck In a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" (2001)
- "In a Little While" (2002)
- "Electrical Storm" (2002)
- "Vertigo" (2004)
- "All Because of You" (2005)
- "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" (2005)
- "Window in the Skies" (2006)
- "Get On Your Boots" (2009)
- "Invisible: (2014)
- "The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)" (2014)
- "You're the Best Thing About Me" (2017)
This is the 14th #1 of 2023.

The Beatles picked up their first Billboard AAA #1 with "Now and Then." They also placed two songs released in 1996 on the chart, but neither made the top 10.
This is the 15th #1 of 2023. With only a month left, we'll see if anyone else grabs a throne before we roll over to the new year.

With only two chart weeks left in 2023, Brittany Howard becomes the 15th Billboard AAA #1 with "What Now." This is her second solo #1, following 2019's "Stay High." She also had a #1 with her previous band, Alabama Shakes, in 2012 with "Hold On."

With Brittany Howard holding onto the top of the Billboard AAA for a second week, we have reached the end of the 2023 calendar chart year!
2023 had 16 different number ones, which ties 1996 and 2019 for third. 2022 had the most Number Ones with 20, and 2000 remains the year with the fewest (6).
Six artists had their debut AAA #1 in 2023: TALK, White Reaper, boygenius, Jenny Lewis, Noah Kahan, and The Beatles. U2 reclaimed their legacy as the AAA's most successful artist by landing their 14th #1 this year. This broke their tie with Coldplay. "Atomic City" was also their first #1 since 2017.
Hozier and The Revivalists both topped the charts more than once. Hozier did it with "Eat Your Young" and "Francesca." The Revivalists scored with "Kid" and "Good Old Days."
Thanks for following along! I'm excited to see what 2024 has in store!

The first week of 2024 already finds the Billboard AAA chart crowning a new #1. Noah Kahan, along with featured artist Hozier, scores his second #1 with "Northern Attitude." This follows Noah's #1 "Dial Drunk" in 2023. This is also Hozier's fifth chart-topper (and the first as a featured artist instead of the primary). He scored #1s with "Take Me to Church (2014)," "Nina Cried Power (2018)," "Eat Your Young (2023)," and "Francesca (2023)."
This is, of course, the first Billboard AAA #1 of 2024.

Just a housekeeping note: even though Brittany Howard's "Hold On" has returned to #1, I am not listing it as a 2024 listing since it is already listed in 2023.

Hozier (sort of) gets his second Billboard AAA #1 of the year with "Too Sweet." He was also credited as a guest on Noah Kahan's "Northern Attitude" at the beginning of the year. This is his fifth solo #1, following "Take Me to Church" (2014), "Nina Cried Power" (2018), "Eat Your Young" (2023), and "Francesca" (2023).
This is the sixth Billboard AAA #1 of 2024.
