In your opinion, what is the best year for music in the 2010s?

It was 2011. That year, got the best of everything. We had Jessie J, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kesha, Rihanna, as well as old timers like Pink, Britney, and Christina.

It’s really close between 2011, 2012 and 2015. But if I had to choose, I’d probably say 2015 just for the most good songs, and likely the highest “average”. 2012 probably had the most great songs though, while 2011 also had a bunch of great songs along with the fewest bad/terrible songs.

In your opinion, what is the best year for music in the 2010s? Are we looking at mainstream hits or just pop in general?

I chose 2015, with 2012 as a close second. If 2013 didn’t have the dual travesties of UOENO and Love Me, plus the undeserved success of Blurred Lines, then it would be a strong contender as well.

I went with 2015, both from a chart and personal preference

Are we looking at mainstream hits or just pop in general? I’ll leave that up to you guys. well in that case, if we're talking hits then 2015 with 2012 as the runner-up but I've talked about why I think that multiple times so let's look at the best year for pop albums. Now originally I was going to say 2015 as well simply for having EMOTION, Art Angels, and Currents but then I saw and remembered 2013 has Random Access Memories, My Time Night Time, Days Are Gone, The Bones of What You Believe, Pure Heroine, Heartthrob, Yours Truly, The 20/20 Experience, and Modern Vampires of the City. But then I saw what 2019 had to offer and wow, just wow. WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, thank u next, Norman Fu cking Rockwell, 1000 gecs, Pang, MAGDALENE, Charli, All Mirrors, Fine Line, Titanic Rising, Cuz I Love You, hell even Dedicated I'd include in the list of great pop releases. Popheads were really eating in 2019

in terms of just the mainstream hits, i still stand by the fact that 2017 is underappreciated.

Best: 1. 2011 - all the pop girls were smashing left and right, love the upbeat party songs, we had the emergence of Adele, the return of Gaga, and TD breaking records 2. 2012 - More upbeat dance music but you had the alt crossovers of STIUTK and WAY which were both huge, plus the return of boy bands with 1D and The Wanted 3. 2010 - Gaga’s TFM and Katy’s TD were both smashing, Kesha dominates, Rihanna releases Loud, more upbeat dance pop songs, Bruno debuts
Average: 4. 2013 5. 2015 6. 2014 7. 2016
Worst: 8. 2019 9. 2017 10. 2018

2015, year of our lord and savior Carly Rae Jepsus
In all reality, 2012 brings the right amount of qualify and nostalgia for me, so that’s my choice.

Love to see the universal love for the best year of our lives, 2012! I guess I’ll give a short rundown of each year IMO, of course if I wanted to I could ramble about the 2010’s for the rest of my life.
2010 - For the electropop boom being so fresh, this year’s actually not the greatest. B tier
2011 - A more polished, fully realized version of 2010. A tier
2012 - Best year of music ever PERIOD. S tier
2013 - Music took a giant chill pill, still great, but the vibrant early 2010’s were now a thing of the past. B tier
2014 - Great, the last year where the majority of hits were truly happy in spirit. A tier
2015 - Also great, pop felt mature and professional. B tier
2016 - This is gonna be remembered as the year everything went downhill, music included. Still mostly great stuff. C tier
2017 - Strangely enough, many hits of this year had a return to positive vibes which I like. Overall good year for music. B tier
2018 - Rock bottom. I wasn’t even interested in the charts anymore. D tier
2019 - The year pop and trap merged, giving us the great era we’re still mostly in today! A tier
