I actually happy that Power 106 is actually playing more older hip hop/R&B. I’m 29 years old and have been a fan of Power 106 since I can remember but they’re still lacking because they’re more songs from the 90’s that they are not playing. Thoughts?

They play too much rap music that sucks, like Teach Me How To Dougie I heard at least 5 times in the last 2 weeks.

I was shocked as hell because they haven’t played that record since the late 90’s. I’m happy that incorporating more 90’s and Early 2000’s hip hop mainly because I’m an avid listener of 90’s Hip Hop & R&B and I’m 29 but I feel you that they play the same songs over and over like any other station that targets the younger crowd.

I believe that they’re playing older hip hop hits because of the pandemic and they’re less artists putting out new music.

They need to play Planet Soul, Angelina and Lina Santiago again since they’re playing more Throwbacks

It seems that Power 106, as of late, has gone back to primarily current-based hits, having checked their "What Was That Song" page. They've also dropped their Throwbacks at 9am show, which is unfortunate since I really enjoyed the "Today's Hip-Hop & Throwbacks" directions they were taking. Then again, Real 92.3 is still kicking their butt in the ratings, so I guess it's a fact that Power, at this point, is not sure which direction it should take. And since KDAY is a sister station, they probably dropped the throwbacks to avoid overlapping too much with their own.

I was enjoying their Hip Hop & Throwbacks direction as well too but they aim at the primarily at the youth crowd.
