Their fifth studio album released on June 20, 1988 by MCA Records. It's the first album to feature Johnny Gill as a member of the group. The album was largely produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
The album was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. It peaked at #12 Pop and #2 R&B charts.
Definitely their strongest album by far out of all their 80s work. I love all the singles. I especially LOVE LOVE "I'm Comin' Home" and "Boys To Men". Listening to their music makes me wish sometimes I grew up in that era. I was only 4 months old when "Heart Break" came out.
"If It Isn't Love" #7 Hot 100, #2 R&B, #20 Dance Club Songs, #10 Dance Single Sales
"You're Not My Kinda Of Girl" #95 Hot 100, #3 R&B
"Can You Stand The Rain" #44 Hot 100, #1 R&B
"Crucial" #4 R&B, #24 Dance
"N.E. Heartbreak" #13 R&B

Yeah this was a great album, and sort of a 'comeback' (or maybe reintroduction). It felt so different for them.
"I'm Coming Home" is terrific and sounds very much of a Janet template (or maybe this one came first).
