-Something in the Orange hits 52 weeks. Same with As It Was. -Midnights or SOS album tracks stick around on the charts similarly to Un Verano Sin Ti. -There's gonna be another chain of album bombs similar to the album bombs during May. -We will have another Midnights/CLB level album bomb. -Anti-Hero has a chart run similar to Bieber's Sorry. -Dandelions becomes a hit to continue the trend of 2016 songs getting revived. -Sweater Weather returns to the charts.

- Neither "Anti-Hero" nor "Unholy" becomes the YE #1 of 2023, but both end up within Top 5 - At least 2 songs from Midnights becomes a single - More songs get a successful chart run/resurgence because of TikTok - At least 7 songs from the 2022 Year-End will be a re-entry (one of them being the aforementioned "Unholy") - "CUFF IT" has a higher YE position than "BREAK MY SOUL" - Both "Die for You" by Joji and The Weeknd are at Top 10 at some point - The 2023 YE is a song that was released from that year (it has to happen) - Rihanna's proper comeback single instantly hits #1 and a legitimate contender for the YE #1 - Olivia Rodrigo releases a new album and has the same success as "SOUR" did - A song from "SOS" hits #1

-Doja, Weeknd, Ariana, Katy, Gaga, Dua, Drake won't release albums in 2023 Dua & Ariana (especially Ariana) are in the danger zone of losing relevancy if they don't release next year OP: this is a pipe dream (or should I say daydream ahahahah) but I think it's not too late for Harry Styles to release Daydreaming as a single. Best case scenario: radio really locks on, it gets used in a bunch of TikToks, bam top 10 hit in spring/summer

Maybe he just does another random surprise video drop like TPWK, but wouldn't say no to another single. 😉

This seems to happen every year so I will say this.
An artist no one has heard of right now will have a year end top 10 hit in 2023.
Latto did it with Big Energy in 2022 although the song was kinda exploding end of 2021.

Someone please stop me, I have been writing this post for over two days and I be saying literally ANYTHING
- Justin Bieber gets a big, "Sorry"-sized solo hit. - A soundtrack song by a popular artist becomes one of the biggest hits of the year. - More 2010s hits resurge a la "Die For You" and another one of them enters the top ten. - None of the Midnights singles after "Anti-Hero" and "Lavender Haze" do well on pop radio, but a song from Speak Now (Taylor's Version) gets a good chart run. - Phoebe Bridgers releases a new project. Lead single debuts in the Hot 100 and the album gets a top 20 debut on Billboard 200. (if Phoebe doesn't release a solo project, I could see a boygenius 2.0 coming, but obviously with lower numbers) - Selena Gomez releases new music. The lead single debuts in the top 5 but the second single from the project becomes a bigger & organic hit. - Lewis Capaldi earns a new radio hit, though significantly smaller than his first two. - One of Pink / Kelly Clarkson becomes semi-viral on TikTok with a new song. - Rihanna releases a new album close to the Superbowl. First day/week numbers are record-breaking but some of the music doesn't connect with the audience and the album doesn't hold up as well as her previous ones. - An A-List pop artist experiments with Deconstructed Club or some kind of innovative electronic sound to critical acclaim and positive reception from the fans. - Katy Perry releases new music during the summer & it's a welcome return to feelgood, throwback pop rock. No word on a complete album though. - A risky prediction: even less #1 debuts in 2023 and less album bombs too. I can't see an artist/era dominating, the whole year will have room for plenty of hits and artists. - Cardi B finally releases her album. I'd say it's very frontloaded and it'll end up underperforming but she's proved me wrong many times. - And the one thing I keep predicting but never happens: Billie & FINNEAS release a collaboration with both of them credited as performers.

Could someone please share the link to the 2022 Predictions thread here if there even is one? I’d like to see it just to look if anyone had a crazy prediction at the beginning of the year and it was actually right

Ava Max will have a chart hit to make the 2023 year end. Only saying that one since I'm curious to see since she made 2019 and 2021 year end, if that pattern could continue. Her album it set to drop during the start of new year so.

- Rihanna finally drops R9 (for real) and will do well. - Olivia Rodrigo will drop her second album, the era will be pretty big but not as big as SOUR. - TikTok will continue to be a major factor in choosing hits. - A few more not-new songs will have resurgences. Taylor Swift's "Cruel Summer" will be one of them and it will be as big as RUTH was. - The next new #1 after Christmas has not been released yet (or we haven't heard of it yet). - "Anti-Hero" will be the year-end #1. - RAYE's album will be a surprise critical major success, but only "Escapism" (I haven't heard it yet) will do well on the charts. - Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish will not drop new albums, if they do it will be in Q4. - Lil Nas X will have more singles, but none will be bigger than his current single. - Dua Lipa will drop the lead single for her next album in the second half of the year, it will do well but it won't be massive. The second single will do a bit better. - P!nk's "Never Gonna Not Dance Again" will be a surprise hit, peaking in the top 10 on Pop and the top 20 on the Hot 100. - Lady Gaga will drop her next album in the second half of the year. - A remix of "Unholy" that features a popular artist will drop in the last week of 2022 or the first couple weeks of 2023 in an attempt to score a second week at #1, but it will fail to do so. - A one-hit wonder in recent years will have another surprise hit. - A duo of two popular artists will form (like Silk Sonic or The Scotts) and will have a hit. - Cardi B will drop her second album which will underperform, but it will have a new top 10 hit that features another artist. A different song on the album will feature a very unexpected collaboration. - Nothing from Eurovision will blow up this year. - Demi Lovato will not release any music at all.
Maybe I will make even more predictions, but I don't know yet.

I think Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter will record a song together and people will be gooped and gagged over the drama of it all for like a month.

I think Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter will record a song together and people will be gooped and gagged over the drama of it all for like a month. *a week. Even if it becomes a 10 week number one song, unless the song is actually about the drama, the background will be forgotten within a few days about similar to Taylor and Katy "reconciling" in the YNTCD mv.

Well, in my French vanilla fantasy, they make out in the music video and it sets off a really exhausting wave of discourse about queerbaiting and the sexualization of WLW identity in the Twittersphere.

Speaking of, the use of the word “queerbaiting” will explode even more in 2023 and will be applied to anyone and everyone who ventures even a little outside of gender stereotypes. Billy Joe from Green Day? Wipe your eyes. Kid Laroi, your hair is too luscious. Charlie Puth, you best just take the year off. Even Disco will use it against a celebrity male he doesn’t find attractive.

Omg I'm sorry I cannot fucking stop posting in this thread but here's my last prediction: if I had to pick one bubbling-under/TikTok-y artist to blow up this year, I'm picking Isaac Dunbar. He's had some viral songs, his charisma/aesthetic is great, and he's very pop-friendly.

Even Disco will use it against a celebrity male he doesn’t find attractive. I don't think queerbaiting really is even a thing though. Nearly all of them are gay/bi/curious anyway. Most of them suck/fuck their way through the industry. How else do they get their songs/videos? This whole notion of people actively courting the GLBTQIA+ community needs to stop being turned into such a cause celebre. If someone speaks up in support, people say they are doing it to get the GLBTQIA+ dollar, and if they do not speak up, they are seen as being against the community. While I do not expect or demand an artist voices their support, it's nice if they do. Now if they speak out AGAINST the community that they are actively trying to market towards, then they need to f**k off.

It's early (but that's the fun of it) but I just wanna make some random guesses as to where things end up on the 2023 YE (this is not really based on anything serious lol just for fun, I'm excited to see how things shape up in the coming months though)
3. Anti-Hero: I do think top 5 for this is likely, but I see it being like Easy On Me where it is the top song of the beginning of the year but then gets passed up due to not having enough steam. If it had those first 2 weeks counting towards its 2023 run then I would say it would be possible that this ends up #1. 5. New Olivia Rodrigo Song: I think she's got enough hype for her new music, and she just teased something so it could do some damage on the charts. 8. Rich Flex: I feel like Drake songs usually stick around a while and this is still holding up well. 9. New Rihanna Song: Obviously we don't fully know if she will release new music but this is in the case she does. I'd guess that this would be higher but I could see her waiting a bit into the chart year to release. 10. Kill Bill: This is partially just wishful thinking on my part, but I do think with how popular this is right now, and with it getting a radio push, it *could* get enough steam for top 10. It also feels more popular than her last 2 YE hits were so I think regardless it should end higher than I Hate U and Good Days did. 12. Unholy: I would say top 10 for this but it seems like it's lost enough points in 2022 that it might just miss. 14. Creepin: Could see this either lasting a while or falling down quick in a few weeks, but I'll guess the former. 15. Made You Look: Tik Tok hit with decent streaming and increasing radio support! 19. Die For You: This feels like a "sticks around a while in the 11-20 range on the Hot 100" type of song. It will get some weeks in the top 10 but idk 24. I'm Good (Blue): This feels like it'll fade quick tbh 25. Escapism: Not sure how this will do since I don't know if it'll get a lot of radio support but we'll see! 28. Golden Hour: Originally thought it was finished on the charts but definitely was proven wrong lol. 29. Bad Habit: Feels like something that will stick around for some time 30. Cuff It: Holding up well on radio though it seems like it slightly lost steam on Tik Tok 31. Just Wanna Rock: Streaming hit! 32. Under The Influence: : ) 35. As It Was: Low key needs to leave but will stay a while I fear. 39. Something In The Orange: I'm kind of surprised this is lasting so long but cool to see! 50. Shirt: SZA has been around #50 the last 2 years on the YE so I'll guess this to maybe do the same

The Chainsmokers and Nickelback team up for a hit and it becomes the # 1 song of the whole year and of the decade so far. Kidding! Obviously, none of this is happening, but hey, you did ask for a bold prediction, right?
I will still make an actual prediction though. I think another former Disney Channel star will get her very first hit this year, like Dove Cameron did last year and Olivia Rodrigo the year before that. I'm just not sure who. It may even be one that has not been heard from in quite some time. Or a former Nickelodeon star. Either or.

Regarding Harry, I would still like to know what that flying yellow bird costume was and Daydreaming could work for that. Maybe he just does another random surprise video drop like TPWK, but wouldn't say no to another single. 😉 I would absolutely love if "Daydreaming" became a single, but sadly I feel like it'd be the type of song to get super close to the top 10 on pop and then stall. Based on the recent clues, it looks like it may end up being Daylight. That already has a fun unofficial video so was hoping for Daydreaming, Satellite, or something else. But I'll gladly watch whatever it ends up being. JukeboxJacob

These will be very specific
- Covers will become popular again, a big female artist (Billie, Olivia or Taylor) releases one and it goes to #1
- A big artist will release a single in which they come out as gay or trans and the song is really good & appreciated by most people and critics but becomes a talking point in America
- Brent Faiyaz gets a top 10 hit and people recognise him as the top artist of the next generation of male R&B musicians
- An old school rapper announces that they're going to run for Congress in 2024 but people actually treat them seriously
- A tiktok influencer that didn't have anything to do with music releases their debut song/project and it attracts a lot of attention and people actually enjoy it
- One of the top artists currently (someone over 30, probably like Taylor or The Weeknd) announces that they're going to be settling down & starting a family and they'll go on hiatus for and indefinite amount of time
- A K-pop star and a western celebrity spark dating rumors and this sends shockwaves through the entire internet. I was going to guess that one of the BTS boys would be involved but idk how likely that is now wthst they're in the army, my second guess it'll probably be like Pete Davidson and someone, maybe Jennie Kim
- On a related note we get the first solo k-pop #1 in billboard's history
- Some artists will get in a physical altercation during an awards ceremony and this will become one of the biggest memes of the year (like they'll actually fight, it won't end with a slap)
- A soundtrack song from a video game blows up on tiktok and charts on billboard
- Some rapper fakes their own death as promo for their album and when people find out that they're alive the album will flop hard
- Frank Ocean does something

a few more:
drake will not drop an album this year frank ocean *will* drop and his next era will be huge with an sos sized album bomb morgan wallen will be one of billboard's top 3 artists of the year, if not #1 we'll start to see the rise of a new genre incorporating elements of pc music and a splash of bedroom pop but distilled down into a pop friendly formula (think unholy and boys a liar) we'll get the first "pure" r&b #1 since ?? miley will score another decent sized hit off her album but nothing near the size of flowers, causing pulse to panic players will go top 5

Bumping this thread so people can react to their predictions from earlier in the year. My one and only was very wrong sadly.
