This is an interesting look into how many spins Gold songs can receive. Even if the Taylor's Versions weren't a thing, this would still probably be averaging 100 spins per week which is fascinating. I'm sure this is nothing compared to the spins some of the other gold tracks are getting.. just think of Coldplay's Something Just Like this. I feel like I hear that 1-2 times a day no matter what CHR station I'm streaming. So even if you go conservative and assume half the panel (87 stations) is averaging 10 spins/week, that would be 870 spins and well into the top 40. I know this is off topic but I agree, very interesting to think about. Adding onto this, the original IKYWT is still getting airplay too, which is counted as a separate entry for Mediabase. And it's getting at least 38 spins from the leaders section on All access, which doesn't show stations playing it less than 7 times per week, so there's probably a considerable amount more. Combined with this it's probably around more like 200 spins. Interestingly, none of the other singles from Red have any spins showing up on pop starters, not even their rerecorded versions. IKYWT really stood the test of time on the pop format it seems. Edit: continuing that off topic bit, SJLT actually is only showing 72 spins. Of course we can't see any station spinning it less than 7 times, but still. Shows up with way more spins on the ACs. Makes sense, of course, given those formats play recurrents/gold more often.

Am I crazy to think this is just being played as a recurrent instead of the original version? I imagine there is no end in sight, as this is just always going to be on recurrent lists.

No that's probably exactly what's happening. Stations playing IKYWT as a recurrent have the option of the original or the TV; but the TV is showing up as a current because it's a separate recording. The only way it's disappearing is either to stop getting played so much or to make top 40 and get purged.

It's because of stations playing the TV as a recurrent/gold instead of the original. [43038378937893453]

Prepare yourselves for whenever Shake It Off and Blank Space TV drop. I'd guess those two get even more recurrent play.
This song was one of my faves but has aged like milk. I'm shocked it's the most played Red TV song on radio.

WHILE WE'RE HERE I know this has already been talked about and I am fully behind why the TV's are getting more exposure but the Max Martin stuff does not sound good. The OG's are so much better.
