If you followed Rock radio back in 1998, this name was all too familiar. Kenny Wayne Shepherd scored a MONSTER #1 (which was also the #1 song of 1998 on Rock) called "Blue On Black" and then another #1 that year with "Somewhere, Someway, Somehow". But after his album "Trouble Is", the artist put out a live album late in 1999 and seems to have dropped off the face of Earth for the last 4 years.
Well according to All Access, KWS is releasing "Alive" to rock radio on August 23rd. I wonder if he will receive a warm welcome back on the format...

On this particular format, not a chance.
Alternative just isn't how it used to be, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd is now seen particularly as adult alternative and alternative country.
He isn't going to chart on Alternative. But...on Triple A he is bound to do well here.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Rock radio is welcoming Kenny's new single. The song is up to #24 on this morning's update of the mainstream rock chart with a +120 bullet (which is HUGE for rock radio, considering the average top song usually achieves just around 700 spins). This could be another top 10 for sure on rock radio.

I heard this a couple of days ago on my Active Rock station, and I was disappointed. It just seemed unoriginal for the same group that put out "Blue On Black". Maybe they have some new members or something. (They still go by Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, right?)
