Love this choice although I would’ve preferred ”Live Off”. 😅

Obvious and correct choice. There's already some buzz around this song, so hope it will have a smooth chart run.

It's this Country generation's "Strawberry Wine." It'll be a huge #1 hit!

I would've also accepted "Hold My Halo" and "Smell Like Smoke" which are nice more raucous jams from Lainey Wilson, but "Watermelon Moonshine" is very high on my list for this album and feels like the most 'classic' song on the record in terms of really striking a meaningful chord with people. I can see this being another really big hit for her that will move the needle more than some of the album's uptempo options may have. Wise selection.

This is another great song from Lainey! I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve heard from her so far - I’ll have to dig deeper into her recent album. I think this will be a big hit for her.
It reminds me of “Paint Me a Birmingham” by Tracy Lawrence!

It reminds me of “Paint Me a Birmingham” by Tracy Lawrence! To me it’s almost 100% word for word “Strawberry Wine”. But that’s ok with me because I like both of these songs.

It’s a little too on the nose in replicating “Strawberry Wine” (which is far superior) for me to really root for this one too hard. I’m sure it’ll be a hit though.

I get this angle, but also by the same token, it's replicating a classic song from nearly 30 years ago. Half the songs currently at country radio at any given time are just replications of hits from the year before, by comparison. If there's room for a million generic drinking songs at all times, I'll happily take the occasional retread of a classic seldom revisited.

I get that’s as well and it’s not so much that I disagree or think you can’t touch upon loss of innocence or young love, but it’s like she swapped fruits and liquors and called it a day lol. Just a little too much of a retread for me but that’s OK.

First off this better be huge, adore it.
Also the “Strawberry Wine” comparison is fair, but it has been 30 years it’s fine. Carry on traditions. I remember Sarah Buxton’s “Innocence” being accused of ripping off “SW” too.

This will be the fastest climbing solo female song the format has seen since “The Bones” right? IIRC, it only “The Bones” like 19 weeks to reach #1?

I'm glad this is off to a quick start because "Heart Like a Truck" literally spent a year making its way up the chart.

Up a whopping twenty spots week to week, jumping to #27 on billboard this week. An absolute smash.

I expected this to do well and Lainey would finally see a single climb like the hot commodity at country music that she has become but HOLY SHIT @ this clearing half the chart a week after its official adds date. I knew she was destined to be a big star, but "Watermelon Moonshine" looks like it will really cement her A-list status. I am so, so happy to see this happening for her!

It looks like it’ll likely be the first solo female chart-topper on BBCA since her own “Things A Man Oughta Know” too (I honestly can’t see Megan getting there unfortunately). I do know it’s too early to make a prediction like this, but the fact it climbed +20 spots in its 3rd week of charting, I’m pretty optimistic it’ll get both charts.

inb4 it gets middling callouts and gets halted at #7 😂
I don’t actually expect that at all, but you never know with women on country radio.

Wow at this performance. I am so elated.
It also feels like country radio is picking their handful of new folks to shoot up the chart and leave the rest for dead/60+ week runs. Interesting to see the shift in chart runs over the past year.

inb4 it gets middling callouts and gets halted at #7 🙄 I don’t actually expect that at all, but you never know with women on country radio. Why the negativity? This song is off to a tremendous start, out the gate one of the fastest female solo singles in YEARS. It climbed 20 spots this week on BB…and that is at this point solely due to country radio EMBRACING this. If for some reason the callouts come back lower than expected that will also have nothing to do with the country radio gatekeepers and entirely on those thousand or so people who participate in national callout. This song is amazing, and Lainey is imo the next format superstar (regardless of gender). I agree Country radio hasn’t been as forgiving on female artists when they release mediocre songs, but this is far from that. It’s a stunning homage to a classic that everyone loves by everyone’s new favorite female artist. Take your downer attitude elsewhere

It's great we have ONE song by a woman moving up the charts quickly, but it's still sad that it's only one song. I think you need to have your sarcasm meter checked as well.

Yeah in case you missed Lainey, Carly, and Megan will have all missed BB #1 with their most recent chart runs. All with respectively big songs, that all reached the top 30/40 of the Hot 100.
A BB #1 is all about timing these days. Because all of those songs from those 3 ladies deserved BB #1, but got blocked by a larger song by a male.

Timing/hoping and praying that Wallen, Combs, or Zimmerman aren't at the top or right near you as that probably means an automatic L for the Billboard #1.

Since some negative predictions are given in the thread, how about a positive prediction from me?
This will be the song benefited from the "Christmas freeze" this year.
