Nice to see this picking up and heading towards the top 20 but it doesn’t seem to be connecting on sales or streaming at all. Does anyone know its current total Spotify streams? I’m shocked she didn’t perform at the cmas

I’m shocked she didn’t perform at the cmas 15,738,374 total Spotify streams for a song that was released about 6 months ago as of yesterday, so it is decent. Her pregnancy may deter her from performing on CMAs.

I'm not surprised that this has been a non-event. There was no way she was ever going to top the success her debut & sophomore singles saw and I think Warner has relied too much on the audience she's built from Idol. To my knowledge she hasn't even been a solo headlining tour yet which at this point is ridiculous considering the major success she's had and the fact that less popular female artists have been able to successfully embark on solo headlining tours.
It will definitely be interesting to see how her career goes going forward. But with Lainey and Megan being huge and connecting with so many people, I feel like Gabby's going to get lost in the shuffle.

She's been pregnant for like 3 straight years. That's not meant to be a criticism of her or anything. Good for her. But you can't really be on a big tour under those circumstances.

Hopefully the album release will give it a boost on sales and streaming as it presumably nears the top 10 or 15 if it lasts that long. I’m surprised there is no preorder for the album yet

Hit or not this remains one of my favorite country singles of the year. Very infectious melody.

Just got around to hearing “You’re My Texas” off the upcoming album, and I’m in LOVE WITH IT, OMG. The production is beautiful, and I love her voice on it…and I just KNEW this was a MirLam co-write, her pen is all over that chorus lol. It’s a surefire #1 smash once they move on from this one. Hopefully there’ll be a few more songs on the record in the vein of YMT as I haven’t been quite as wowed by anything else I’ve heard thus far the way I was with her debut.

I'm still partial to "Cowboy Back," but "You're My Texas" gives it a run for its money for sure; I LOVE it! And I am definitely digging this new era for MirLam of writing songs for other artists. Definitely hear smash potential in it as well.

Debut at #18 on Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart this week.
Being #44 on callout does not give bright future for this song though. She also has a better connecting song right now (Growin' Up Raising You) so she should move on sooner or later.

I'm not very optimistic about Gabby's career. When a monstrous hit like I Hope, she couldn't get the top accolades for a female in country music,I don't know what could bring her.
And most female legends are all about female empowerment, but she's no loretta or dolly, she's not even tammy. She's like a male in female country singers, you know what I mean but country radio is still not passionate about her.

Being able to win CMA Awards doesn’t directly correlate to success, as the show is heavily influenced with voting blocks, talent agencies, and labels. I kind of think she’ll have a career trajectory like Sara Evans (who also never won CMA FVOTY.) A few #1 hits, some top 10s, and other minor hits. Not every artist is going to be the next Reba/Dolly/Carrie/Miranda. But I’d say for radio to have sent this one top 20, maybe top 10 when it’s all said and done, when it’s been a pretty quiet single, they gotta be at least interested. Also echo that “Growin’ Up Raising You” might need to be pushed in the near future. It absolutely blew up on Tik Tok. Not the most radio friendly, but she could use a good connecting song like that.

I do think she has a somewhat bright future. Her music isn't critic darling or what award shows want, but radio likes her enough (this being near the Top 20 despite pretty bad callout and mediocre buzz does speak well for how radio views her).
I just hope this time next year I don't hear about her being pregnant again, and she actually has her own tour or is a solid supporting act for other ones. Her type of country music isn't my thing at all, but I do think she has some staying power with the genre if she and her team play their cards right.

She's kind of having a slow rollout for her second album that makes it feel like she's maybe a little less buzz-worthy compared to some of the other females, but once she stops popping out babies, I feel like we'll see her star power go back up. She had 2 absolute massive smashes to start her career and while this isn't going to come close to the level of those, I don't get any real indication that she's in trouble of not sticking around. Out of the newer females, Lainey Wilson is obviously the top dog, but I feel like I'd place Megan Moroney and Gabby Barrett on the next rung below her. Those 3 are here to stay imo.
She also fills a different niche in the genre that I think will help her staying power, which is the Christian angle. You don't really have any of the other newish ladies leaning into the faith-based songs as much as her, which is definitely something that was a strong selling point for Carrie Underwood's career and I feel similarly that it will be a nice pocket of support for Gabby.

I’ve significantly cooled on her overtime but when I actually look at her career overall starting from being an 18 year old fresh off Idol, huge Carrie- ish voice, without much of a grasp of who she was as an artist but connecting massively on radio and commercially with her first two singles- she’s definitely found her lane and who she is as an artist. Leaning HEAVILY into CCM and Christian values takes away her mainstream crossover potential that her first two singles seemed to indicate but allows her to connect strongly with her demographic on Country and the CCM demographic- wouldn’t be surprised to see a push to both formats this era as they overlap somewhat. Kinda in the same way HARDY is pushed at Country and Rock but her being Country and CCM- quite an open lane and the only other artist I can think of in that lane is Anne Wilson, whose attempting the crossover from the other side, CCM to Country. Could be wrong tho lol
Edit: my bad- I didn’t read the post above pretty much saying the same thing haha

It will be interesting to see how this era pans out. I remember loving Goldmine in 2020, but that was almost 4 years ago. Would have liked to see a quicker follow-up to capitalize on the momentum. Obviously life got in the way, but still. Gabby does have the ability to connect via TikTok which, when used right, can be a larger platform for her. However, if she goes in more of the CCM route, that may be a bit of a smaller market. I don't think we are going to see an "I Hope" style crossover song from her again, but happy it happened. Hopefully she is a bit more present on the scene next year, as we never get to see Gabby at award shows etc. Obviously, she has every right to with her family, however, I think some more exposure could be good.

See, that's the thing I think that's actually going to be a huge boost for her because that is a big market for country music fans, and it's relatively untapped since Carrie Underwood, who is literally the biggest female country star of the past nearly 2 decades. Gabby has all the makings of really leaning into Carrie's niche that is basically unfilled rn because she fits the CCM angle and also has the big voice that can belt a song in ways that you're not really going to get from any of the other new girls. I dunno if she gets another major crossover hit like "I Hope" again or even actively wants one, but CCM is a big market that sells and pairs well with a career in country music.

Ironically her appealing to the Christian side of country music as much as she has so far (the album title, most of her collaborations if she has them being other Christian artists I believe), is probably why I don't care for her music at all. Mainly because outside of country and rap music being fused together, country music and Christian music being together doesn't appeal to me at all within country music, as religious music can quickly get preachy or judgemental if not done carefully.
Heck I would argue Gabby Barrett has appealed or leaned in more to CCM than Carrie Underwood did at this stage of her career (I am not saying in general, Carrie Underwood has a whole damn album, but if I am looking at the first two album eras of both artists I do think Gabby Barrett has leaned in that market more).
I feel like regardless of what route Gabby Barrett takes, I do think the comparison to Sara Evans made earlier looks the most likely, as I feel like Gabby Barrett is settling into a nice middle of the road presence in country music. Not top dog among the women in country music in terms of awards or commercially, but always present.

Well Carrie's debut single at country radio was literally "Jesus, Take the Wheel" which is about as CCM-leaning in the mainstream country sphere as it gets. (And we also saw how well that paid off for Carrie, too.) Gabby still hasn't even had a true "Jesus Jam" single at country radio yet, but the comparison to Carrie makes the most sense, and why I think she's going to have a niche that will keep her career afloat fairly easily. She's offering something different for the genre in terms of her style, which will set her apart from the girls like say Priscilla Block who come and go constantly and are dime a dozen. Also you don't have to find Gabby's CCM-leaning approach appealing, but it's a large market, especially tied with the country music community. It's definitely a much bigger tie-in than fusing country and rap together. You've got acts like Randy Travis, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, etc. who have made that part of their niche over the years and then on the other side you've got people like... Colt Ford.

Yeah there is definitely a market for Christian/country. Carrie’s “My Savior” opened with like 70k pure sales, in a time that album sales were already starting to be crap for mainstream country artists.

Hello Carrie’s something on the water was Christian too. Country and Christian music has been married together for a long time.

People get too focused on becoming some huge star. If you can just have a steady career in this business that is a success. A lot of female artists slow down after an initial huge early career because their kids get older start activities and school.

This isn’t just country music either- in general MOST artists aren’t going to be huge stars and even getting one hit is a small minority. That’s why I view success as relative to each artist and try avoiding comparisons bc no artists journey is the same especially now with the million other ways of consumption.

While most artists won't be a big star, and success is all relative. I enjoy discussing artists in country music, the radio charts, etc and how successful an artist is.
Maybe we and myself especially, get too focused on artists career, but I feel like that comes with the territory with this being a music forum and discussion board. It's also why there are dissenting and differing opinions on songs/artists themselves, etc.
