In your opinion, which songs had the most unexpected/shocking/thrilling chart run to watch and follow? (both Hot 100 and radio)
1) Running Up That Hill (2022) - most unbelievable chart run of all time IMO (and deserved #1 Hot 100 but blocked by radio's obsession with As It Was)
2) Levitating - from late-era single release, to slow build over an entire year, to the biggest song in the country and blocked from #1 by a highly controversial shady move by Billboard, to the year-end #1 and the biggest female single of the decade so far.
3) Heat Waves - I first heard it in 2020 as a random unknown track, only for it to become the longest running song in Billboard history and the 2022 year-end #1.

came here to say the latter two you mentioned, but in a similar vein calm down, blinding lights, and cruel summer were both pretty wild to watch
also idk how interesting id find it now, but i remember cheap thrills by sia being the first chart run that made me go wow :0

In before the mentions of Who Knew, and U & Ur Hand come up.
I imagine Womanizer was also a bit of a wowzer considering it was Britney's first number one in about a decade, and first Top 40 in years.
Kelly Clarkson probably has a few too.

first thing that obviously came to mind was "Hello" by Adele managing to sneak at the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 Year-End of 2015 WITHIN JUST THREE WEEKS, and at the time I was just 14 and was starting to be interested at Year-End charts as well (I don't have a Pulse acc at the time)
I would also say "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons within the same vein as "Heat Waves" and "Blinding Lights", but the two had to avoid recurrency rules, while "Radioactive" didn't

good call, this has to be one of the most satisfying runs in decent memory (especially when it + golden hour managed to sneak a week in the top 10 and make you look didn't)

Sure Thing, a song which was huge R&B hit in 2011 and never had a chance to crossover to pop radio because of the EDM/electropop dominance of that era, being able to come back and get a long run at #1 on pop radio in 2023 because the landscape has changed.
