2 million views before the 1 day mark. Assuming that's the norm for The Weeknd?

2 million views before the 1 day mark. Assuming that's the norm for The Weeknd? Abel's music videos usually do pretty good out the gate compared to his contemporaries, although I do think Madonna's involvement is pulling in some extra viewership because I've seen tons of reaction channels react to the video like they haven't heard the song before.

Madonna looks good but that's about it for the video imo. They could have done a way better concept.

The Idol soundtrack underperforming out the gate and then becoming a streaming juggernaut months later... never underestimate The Weeknd

No. 10 on U.S. Top Music Videos on YouTube for Feb. 24- though as it's a new entry on the charts, is that for the prior day, the first full day for the official upload?
Looks to have picked up after the first day, too. Per Kowrb, it's up 25 spots to No. 12 on the rolling 24-hour-most-viewed chart, with 2.388 million views.

Is this actually getting airplay again? Seems like it's gonna peak at different times in every.single.platform.
It's for sure gonna end up as one of those billion streams songs people are surprised didn't chart better.

Radio's still done. Currently not within the top 50 recurrents on Pop. Plus I think any window this might have had for a revival on the format was shut when 'One Of The Girls' got pushed instead.

This is clearly her biggest hit since 4 Minutes, but what is the biggest hit before that? I guess Hung Up. This is bigger than American Life, but not Die Another Day. Great moment for her.

I mean honestly I know the US peak wasn't great but Hung Up seems like her biggest hit for younger generations. This has the numbers but that one has the cultural and critical impact.

it's kinda weird that whoever is making decisions thought it was ok to release the video 7 months later. And its performing well? lol.

I know this isn't Blinding Lights or anything, but I would argue this is probably his biggest hit since SYT, maybe even bigger than anything off of Dawn FM despite peaking way lower. With the Fortnite emote and the music video being a hit, it just feels culturally bigger than even Take My Breath which reached No. 6 on the Hot 100.

Yea now that you mention it, Popular does seem bigger than Take My Breath, and I still feel that song was completely robbed of success.

Yea now that you mention it, Popular does seem bigger than Take My Breath, and I still feel that song was completely robbed of success. Take My Breath would've been a smash hit if he waited to release it, should've been out at minimum late 2021 and probably early 2022. Putting it out while both Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears were still hanging around was a bad idea, and seeing it fall out of the Top 10 in its second week and Save Your Tears rising back into the Top 10 the same week solidified this. I think the no promo angle of the whole Dawn FM era was also a terrible idea, Abel probably thought he was big enough that he didn't need to do promo but that was moot when all the singles failed and the album debuted below Gunna. I think he learned from his mistakes because this new era seems to have lots of promo planned and he's been keeping Popular in the public eye as well instead of just abandoning it. The Weeknd is huge but I don't think he's quite on the level of Beyonce or Taylor yet where he can just drop an album or single out of nowhere and have it be huge.

His daily streams are bigger than Drake or Big Bunny’s.

I think NOW he might be able to surprise drop something and have it be a big hit, but it looks like he's going back to doing a big rollout again for this next album.
