Her third studio album released by Columbia Records on May 11, 2007 in Europe. It was then later released in the United States on May 30, 2008. By then, Amerie was no longer signed with Columbia Records, and unfortunately, future singles and promotions from the album were later scrapped. As a result, the album failed to chart on the Billboard 200, becoming her first studio album to do so. It peaked at #17 in the U.K., #4 U.K.'s R&B chart, and #13 in Japan. I love that the songs on the album were a mixture of 60s/70s funk and 80s new wave. She sounded just as fresh and fierce as her previous albums. Love all the tracks. My fave ones are Take Control, Gotta Work, Some Like It, Crush, Somebody Up There, Crazy Wonderful, and That's What U R. Each time I listen to her music, I am greatly reminded how greatly slept upon she really was. I really do miss her music.
"Crush" was going to be the third single, but was cancelled in favor of "That's What U R". "Take Control" #66 R&B, #10 U.K.
"Gotta Work" #21 U.K.
