This is probably the most engaged he’s sounded on a single since….the ‘Neon’ album. It’s also quite catchy which should help it be a bigger hit.
Now I do find the lyrics to be a little uninspired but it wasn’t aiming for depth really so I can forgive that.

I've had this one on repeat for the last month. The melody reminds me a little of the (unreleased) song "Renegades" by Thomas Rhett.

Lyrically like some have said this is extremely basic but it really sounds amazing and for me that makes this a rather strong song and hopefully one that can climb quickly and not stall out like “Looking For You” did.

I guess I’ll be the bad guy and say I think this kind of stinks? Should preface by saying I’m a big fan of “Rebel Rebel” by David Bowie, but to my ears the cadence of Chris’ vocals just doesn’t pair with the instrumental. It just sounds off and bugs me. And of course lyrically it offers nothing, and really isn’t even remotely David Bowie material. When Jake Owen copied “Jack & Diane”, it at least made sense because there are obvious similarities/influences between Mellencamp and modern country. This just seems sloppy.

Finally, a Chris Young song that doesn't make me cringe. It's pretty clever, he sounds good, and it doesn't feel like he is chasing a fad. Hope that this does well for him.

They should’ve at least just used the single artwork at least that one has some color. The cover aside I’m sure it will be a great album from Chris.
