My condolences to Recordyear
Congrats to Anthony on finally losing your 100
This riff is so heavy, I have no idea where Beck came up with it but I'd like to see him try something like this again.

The long national nightmare of "Dreams" being Beck's uncontested best rock chart rankdown performance is finally over!

I may have tanked Fix You because I don't get it, but I tanked this one because I get it completely and I can't stand a single second of it.
My condolences to Az, Beyoncelover, Doc, and Tom

I'm glad 5 years of sober reflection and maturation have allowed us to drop BOBD... one sole singular spot from its Alternative performance.

There are plenty of times where I'll disagree with tanks but totally understand why they happen, but this isn't one of those times. I have no idea why the pop leaning posters seemed to dislike this.
My condolences to Rowell

I am usualy the first to tank pop crossovers to this format (they sure knew how to pick them on AAA) but I'm so glad this did well here. What a great song.

#2 Preview Highest: 1 SD: 11.27643094 (2nd Lowest)
#1 Preview Highest: 1 SD: 10.9759306 (Lowest) I have some strange luck with Chart rankdowns here, everytime I've hosted a rankdown (at least by myself) I have ended up with a top 2 that consists of one artist. Keane gets to join Fleetwood Mac and Florence + The Machine from 1977 Active and 2011 AAA respectively.
Lets check some stats about these two songs
Somewhere Only We Know vs Everybody's Changing
Neither song fell below 4th in the movements at any point.
No one has a rank lower than 41 and only two ranks are below 30.
BB, Daryl, Gates, Leaf, Red, Dad Jokes, Trilogy, and your lovely host all have a chance at a perfect #1.
Only Trilogy has a chance at a full perfect top 2.

Some closing thoughts I have is that I had a good time hosting this, even if I was a bit dramatic about it at times. but I can't think of a more satisfying result than one of my favorite soft rock songs ever winning out here. Thank you to everyone who took their time to submit and participate, we'll see if I end up hosting again soon but I've said it before this really isn't my format for the most part, and I want to get the Rock Band rankdowns going strong as well. Rock Band 3 is currently open now so if we are going to get that series going then get there. I don't know if we are doing 2023 year ends first or 2004 next but stay tuned for those. Cool to see Tegan and Sara in the top 10! Maybe the best performance by a Calgarian act in a rankdown (unless Loverboy did better somewhere or there's someone I don't know)
Breathe is *fine* but like...kinda boring to me? Kinda surprised to see it make it as far as it did.
All Keane top 2 was cool, was fully expecting SOWK to win, and I won't complain that it actually happened.

10. Fix You - ColdplaySappy ballad from Coldplay, but somehow it works on every level. Its like they wanted to get "The Scientist" part 2, but couldn't quite get there, but still a great effort. 9. Holiday - Green Day Fierce Green Day song that doesn't belong on AAA gets a top 10 ranking. That's how stellar this band/song is. Crazy to think that now a days this song would probably get boycotted for a certain word used in an inproper slang manner. What could possibly be my #1 song after this reveal? 8. City Of Blinding Lights - U2Another good from the album that I almost charted. 7. E-Pro - BeckNot one of my favorite beck songs. Really didn't care for the vocal delivery here. 6. Boulevard Of Broken Dreams - Green Dayfavorite Green Day song ever, and probably one of my favorite songs of all time. Up there with "Let's Go" , "Photograph" ,"Xanadu" and the rest. Will stand the test of time til I'm on my dying bed listening to all mp3 one last time. Well at least you gave a reason why you tanked it. 5. Walking With A Ghost - Tegan And SaraGreat song. Always liked this one. Guitar hook is "Just What I Needed" worthy. 4. Breathe (2 AM) - Anna NalickForgot this was still in here. Pleasant little Pop song. Easy on the ears ,and eyes. 3. Speed Of Sound - ColdplayP-P-P-Perfect ranking. One the band's absolute best. Still melodic fire after all these years. 2. Everybody’s Changing - KeaneAt times this band sounds like a a tamer version of U2. Nice song and better of the two. I wasn't familiar with this band back then. 1. Somewhere Only We Know - KeaneSame thing here. These guys fly into my radar around 2008. Another very nice song. Guess this year the rankdown belonged to the actual AAA chart lovers. razorshark . Great job hosting. Even though you tried to lose me half way here I still caught up.

Solid ending. Just wish I liked Keane more to rank them higher. I actually listened to Beck's discography several years ago and he is such a quirky artist imo. Thanks to this rankdown (or rather, this series) for reminding me how good Beck's music is in general. E-pro for the lack of better words is a banger. No regret in putting it at #1 alongside with some great country-leaning first listens (the artists themselves I have to deep dive some day). Unfortunately though Catch My Disease may be the worst song I have heard in this series so far, despite of the award bait song (Daughters) and atrocious "wordplay" (well, Wordplay). Every second of it is a big cheese, and the concept ages so bad after the pandemic. Thanks razorshark for hosting.

Time to catch up on this Top 10! 10. Fix You - Coldplay: Ahh dangg, not my second favorite of this Top 10 showing up first..... a bummer there. :'( This is my #5, so I do really love this song and it's one of those songs I didn't quite appreciate as much when it was out but it's grown on me over the years. And yeah I do love it now and it's one of my favorite songs from Coldplay. I am still happy that this made it to the Top 10 as I wasn't expecting that, honestly. 9. Holiday - Green Day: Awww nooo, my #18 shows up. That's one of the five songs I would have been fine with winning so I'm getting a bit worried. But also, I am glad this was the first of the 2 Green Day songs to show up in this Top 10. This is another one of those songs, I either wasn't crazy about or liked when it was out but didn't pay it much attention. But I've grown to appreciate this more over the years. A fun song from Green Day. 8. City Of Blinding Lights - U2: Oooh yay there goes my #75, aka my lowest ranked song of this Top 10. Okay good I'm pleased with this showing up now. But uh oh, I think this was my lowest rankede U2 song so of course it does the best of them. That would happen. 7. E-Pro - Beck: Ooh okay, this is my #49 so I ranked this around the middle of my list. Okay, I'm fine with this dropping out now. Ooooh and also even happier to know this is Anthony's #100 rather than it being any of the songs in my Top 10. I can't complain. Oooh I'm noticing the rankings now - 7 Top 5 and 11 Top 10 rankings is really impressive. 6. Boulevard Of Broken Dreams - Green Day: Oooh noooo, not my #1 just missing out making the Top 5. Dangg, I'm so sad about that. :'( I really lovee this song a ton. I think it's such a deep, meaningful and powerful song and a song that goes in so hard - especially towards the end. I just always loved and connected to this song. One of, if not, my very favorite Green Day songs! I LOVE that there were 4 #1s for this song - and slayy Az Paynter, Beyoncelover, Doc Indie Party Rock, and Tom for those #1 rankings! Also happy seeing this getting 8 Top 10 rankings. But on the other hand, not razorshark with that #97 tanking. :'( At least it wasn't an even worse tanking. My remaining ranks of the Top 5: 6, 10, 30, 66, 73. Welp now I'm just hoping my #66 or #73 doesn't win here, haha. Still pulling for my #6 or #10 to win it now. 5. Walking With A Ghost - Tegan And Sara: Okay so this was my #66 and yeah one of the two songs I was not wanting to win so I'm good with this showing up. But not happy with it beating "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams," but I'll live. 8 Top 5 and 12 Top 10 rankings is really impressive for this. 4. Breathe (2 AM) - Anna Nalick: Aww kinda sad to see my #10 show up as this was one of the two songs I was pulling for to win here. But at the same time, very happy that this made it this far! This is a really beautiful and stunning song. <3 This one had just 8 Top 10 rankings. Yayy for no Bottom 30 rankings for this one! 3. Speed Of Sound - Coldplay: Oh whoa, I didn't realize that this song was my #73 that was left, lmaoo oops. And oops I'm the lowest ranker here, oh my. Yeah with the difference of my rankings between this and "Fix You," I'm not too happy with this one beating it out but I was expecting it. This is a good song and I do like it but it was one that never really grabbed or really got me. I guess I just never found a proper appreciation for this one. But good on this making it to the Top 3. Oh wow a Keane Top 2! :o My #6 vs. my #30. That's actually prettty good for me. And wow it's really fun to see how both songs have the lowest and second lowest SD. Hoping for my #6 to win but expecting it to be my #30. 2. Everybody’s Changing - Keane: Oooh whoa, wow.... my #30 is the one that shows up next and does not win. :o I was expecting this to win. Anyway, I do enjoy this song and thought this was pretty good. I'm not surprised to see this making it all the way to 2nd. 1. Somewhere Only We Know - Keane: Wowzerrs at this song getting 7 #1 rankings AND the lowest SD! :o Then I also see 10 Top 2 rankings and 16 Top 10 rankings? Wow and the point difference too? Over 100 point difference from the #2 song. Such a runaway winner! Anywho, I do love this song and love it enough to give it a #6 ranking. This is a great, beautiful and emotional song from Keane. Love it and my favorite from them. Very pleased with this winning! Wonderful job hosting this game, razorshark! It was fun to view and be apart of! Lol yay me ending my rankdown closeness with a 33.32.

This is kinda late, but I just saw the very start of the rankdown here, and is this the first time that a song has been #100 on both the Year End list and the rankdown itself? I know it almost happened with the 2005 Year End Hot 100 a while back, and plus the 1966 YE I hosted was, I think, the first one where a song was both #1 on the Year End while also being #100 on the Rankdown.
I'm also surprised that Rob Thomas "Lonely No More" isn't on here, since his 2nd album singles made it to the AAA rankdowns and so did Matchbox Twenty in 2004.
