What's next? Well, actually, I'm not entirely sure. It's not that I don't have a rankdown in mind to do next. The issue is that I'm torn between two rankdowns, and I may or may not have another idea for a rankdown that's in the works, one that doesn't fit under this "Red Presents" umbrella. If I decide to host that first, the next "Red Presents" rankdown will start after that rankdown is completed.
It is just like Pulse to do the 2016 Alt re-do and wait three years to get around to the other side of the equation, eh?

I feel like this question has been asked often over the last few years: When are we going to look at re-doing more past rock chart rankdowns? The 2016 Alt re-do was a lot of fun to do, and it felt natural to go with another re-do soon after. Of course, that did not happen. There were a number of reasons for that, though I think one of the big ones is "Well, if we are serious about going back and re-doing the older rock chart rankdowns, that means we're also going to have to tackle that format, too", and that probably was enough to scare people away for a while. Really, I was always interested in giving this particular re-do a go as host, but timing was a big factor in it not happening sooner. It always seemed like something else came up for me. The end of 2022 was the closest I came to revisiting this RD, and you all know what happened there. What ultimately led to this happening was me realizing that it really has been three freaking years since we did the Alt 2016 re-do. I have my Red Presents series that I was fully ready to continue hosting for the foreseeable future, but we need to get the ball rolling on these re-dos, Alt and Active. This has been long overdue, really.
I feel like the participant pool for this RD will be well and truly familiar with how rankdowns work, but, if you're not familiar, here's a refresher course.
- This is a rankdown where we will be ranking the top 100 Billboard Active hit songs of 2016, though this particular version of the rankdown will take out songs that were repeats that did better in 2015 or 2017.
- Points will be calculated using an inverse point system: your #1 song will receive 100 points, and your #100 song will receive 1 point.
- Once the deadline has passed, all submissions will be counted and the points for every song will be tallied up. From there, each song will be revealed from 100 to 1, with every participant's rankings being revealed in each subsequent reveal.
Some more rules to cover:
1) Do not listen to 30 seconds of a song and then skip past it, especially if you have never heard the song before. Every song must be listened to in their entirety. It's okay if you've listened to a song in the past and rank based on memory, though it doesn't hurt to listen to a song you've already listened to as a refresher course.
2) Rank all of the songs from #1 (your favorite) to #100 (your least favorite).
3) Rank the songs based on your personal preference, not strategically. If you don't like a popular song that you know will do well, then you don't like a popular song, but don't rank said popular song low if you like it just because you don't want it to do as well as another song or songs.
4) PM your lists to me (that's Red , Old Man Emeritus). I would prefer if you sent the list through Pulse PM, though I will also accept Discord DMs, if necessary.
5) You can send your lists to me with or without numbers, but please format your lists the same way as the list provided below. It will make it so much easier for me to put your lists into the calculations if you change nothing.
6) Even if you have already sent your list, you can PM me any changes you'd like to make until submissions are closed. Once the deadline passes, all lists become finalized, and you cannot make any changes to your lists.
7) As for the deadline, I'm thinking about rolling with November 25th at 11:59pm US Eastern. Given that this deadline coincides with Black Friday weekend, I may or may not offer an extension, though please submit when you can and don't count on this happening. If you think that you might be late, you need to let me know at least an hour or two before the deadline to ensure that your list will be counted before the deadline passes.
