5 years ago the No. 1 song of the week would average a decent 450+ points, but today in 2023 songs topping the chart are getting 230~ points at best. It seems like each year since 2020 the Billboard Hot 100 is getting much weaker and it’s not really fully explained on what’s really behind the decline in chart points.

The overall chart is weaker so it allows just a handful of songs to spend the entire year at #1… but the same time allows for one-week novelty #1’s.
