Yes, it is that time of year again. Time to look back and ahead. You know the questions asked here, but I will repeat them:
1. What have you noticed over the past twelve months?
2. What do you see over the next twelve months?

I'll start by commenting on my own 2023 predictions from 2022: ______________________ Carrie Underwood - "Hate My Heart" will be her first #1 since "Southbound" but will once again be a MB only #1, continuing her streak of singles missing BB #1 since "Church Bells" (unless the MB / BB chart merger happens next year... not sure when that is). Carrie continued to have radio struggles through 2023. With HMH as her lowest charting single to date and the popular OOTT limping into the top 30, I'm not optimistic of what's next for this part of her radio career.
Maren Morris - "I Can't Love You Anymore" flops and her team doesn't send another single from "Humble Quest". She is pregnant with kid #2 and releases nothing new in 2023, only further derailing career momentum. (This is my worst nightmare, btw) I apparently couldn't imagine a worse nightmare, but what happened in 2023 for her was just a tremendous explosion of her country career. Sad, honestly.
Gabby Barrett - Goes on a small headlining tour in 2023 that does quite well. Someone in the country scene calls out Cade for being controlling and stifling her career. No tour, no call out, but kid #3...
Bailey Zimmerman - "Rock & A Hard Place" hits #1 before March and he rounds out the radio bro threesome of him, Luke Combs, and Morgan Wallen. Sorta true!
Lauren Alaina - Her radio debut is cowritten with HARDY and/or Morgan Wallen and she is asked to do direct support on one of their tours. She begins attaching herself to this crowd and it does well for her new music. The single is received well at radio and becomes her second highest peaking song in Q1 2024. Opening for Aldean is certainly a close enough reality to my prediction. I do still think her radio single will fare decently at the end of the day, even if it takes all of 2024.
HARDY - His radio single after "wait in the truck" comes from "The Crow" side of his album and is too rock leaning for radio. It peaks in the 30s. While "Truck Bed" has entered the top 20, it has been a slower climb than expected.
Jimmie Allen - His star continues to shine bright and his radio single to come climbs much faster than his previous. He becomes a regular contender for Male Artist. Yikes is all I can say to this.
Ingrid Andress - "Feel Like This" peaks in the 20s but is received similarly to "Lady Like". No other singles from Good Person are released, but her headlining tour and Hot AC single attracts attention from a pop artist and she opens for a big name in the fall. Feel Like This flops really hard, and I still think she should open for a pop artist soon!
Kelsea Ballerini - Does an arena tour similar to the "Miss Me More" tour and brings a popular male artist as direct support. The arena tour seems to be in the works, but I don't think anybody could've predicted Rolling Up the Welcome Mat and its success.
Kane Brown - Is finally nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the CMAs after a summer of massive shows at major festivals. Sigh.

1. A lot less number one hits this year and a lot of songs overstaying their welcome on the chart. As usual males dominated on radio however I felt the female artists had some amazing songs that got nowhere on radio. I think the four most memorable songs were “Last Night”, “Fast Car”, “Try That In A Small Town” and “Rich Men North Of Richmond”.
2. I think the Morgan Wallen dominance stays strong and Lainey Wilson continues to dominate the women. I think Parmalee, Brett Young, George Birge and maybe even Bailey Zimmerman fall off a bit and Chase Matthew, Ryan Larkins, Lauren Alaina and Kacey Musgraves surge on the charts. I also think the spin record will keep going up and longer chart runs will continue. Finally I think the trend of remaking old songs or using parts of them in a song will peak in 2024.

I'll make my new predictions for next year in a separate post, but first i'm going to give commentary on my predictions from last year.
Carrie Underwood: "Hate My Heart" peaks sometime in May/June (hopefully at #1) and "Burn" is released as the third official single off Denim and Rhinestones and is nearing the top 10 by the end of the year.
Welp that didn't go as planned lol. For what it's worth, I don't feel like HMH was necessarily a bad single choice in the sense that it wasn't radio friendly, it's just there were numerous better options on the album that could've moved the needle more, and probably could've made it higher up the chart (Pink Champagne, She Don't Know, Crazy Angles, Burn.) We did end up getting a third single with surprise release "Out of That Truck" and is moving a bit slow, maybe top 25 by the end of the year.
Maren Morris: "I Can't Love You Anymore" is promoted through February/March, but doesn't get the traction it needs from radio. No more singles are released from Humble Quest. Rumblings of new music by the end of the year (either solo or a new duet.)
Sadly was pretty much on point with this one. We did have an announcement she's pulling back from mainstream country, and signed with the NY branch of Columbia. Maren did release some new music from her small EP "The Bridge" this year.
Kelsea Ballerini: "If You Go Down (I'm Going Down Too)" has a relatively long climb up the chart, but goes #1 late summer early fall. "Muscle Memory" is released as the third single.
Radio sadly slept on IYGD, and took it almost a year to just to peak in the low teens. Was recently announced that no further singles from the parent album will be released. I do feel like the unexpected release of RUTWM, did take some momentum away from STC, but it needed to be released, and further broadened her reach, which was a smart choice, even if it did mean STC kind of got the shaft. Miranda Lambert: Kind of leaning towards no more Palomino singles, given how "Strange" outright flopped, but if we do get another one my money is either on "Waxahachie" or "Carousel." I do think "Carousel" will be played on a big stage (Grammy's, CMTs, ACMs, or CMAs) whether it becomes a single or not. I suspect the Luke duet will also go to radio sometime, and might be what they opt for as a single over another Palomino single.
No further singles from Palomino were released, which kind of made sense a few months later when she announced she was parting was with her longtime label Sony. Thankfully, "Carousel" did have it's moment on the ACM stage. Unfortunately, Luke Combs moved onto a new album era, leaving the duet as an album track. Carly Pearce: "What He Didn't Do" goes #1 sometime around March, and I think if it runs into the right timing it could be her first single to get multiple week's at #1 due to the great connection and the good callouts. I suspect the lead single to the next album come out sometime in the summer. Not sure when the album comes out. If next year probably won't be till the end, most likely wont be till beginning of 2024 if I were to guess. Do think we will get some promotional singles in 2023 though after the lead.
"What He Didn't Do" went #1 in March, but unfortunately ran into bad timing peaking around the same time as one of the biggest singles of the year (Rock and a Hard Place), restricting it to a MB #1. "We Don't Fight Anymore" was released in the summer, and have had some promotional singles released since then, no new album yet, but based on what I've heard it will be released early next year. Gabby Barrett: "Pick Me Up" peaks somewhere in the top 3 in late January. I do think it could possibly go #1 if Warner times it correctly.
"Pick Me Up" made it to #4 in February, unfortunately running out of steam. Still think this should've been a #1 though, given how well it streamed.
Ingrid Andress: I really don't know how radio is going to take to "Feel Like This," but I'm going to be optimistic and say it at least goes top 20 by the end of the year. "Yearbook" will be the next single if "Feel Like This" doesn't outright flop.
Unfortunately radio didn't take to "Feel Like This," and failed to scrape the MB top 50. No further singles were released from the album. "Feel Like This" deserved at least a top 40 peak, even if it wasn't radio friendly, given that it streamed relatively well.
Priscilla Block: I suspect the Justin Moore duet will become Pricilla's first #1 hit, peaking sometime in the late summer early fall. A lead single to her next album be released shortly after.
The Justin Moore duet became Pricilla's first #1 hit, and peaked around the given timeframe. She's released a new track titled "Hey Jack" which will be apart of her next era, but it is still TBA if it will be a single or not. Lauren Alaina: Lauren releases her debut single on Big Loud Records sometime in Q2 and it is top 20 by the end of the year. I'm betting her new material is going to have some Morgan Wallen/HARDY type country flare.
Lauren released a small EP titled "Unlocked" in the summer, and eventually made "Thicc As Thieves," the first single from it. It's still climbing the chart. Tenille Arts: I really hope I'm wrong about this one, but I'm just not sure that I see radio taking to her new song that's impacting in January. If her previous label could only get Back Then Right Now to right around the 30s range, despite being radio friendly, I can't imagine a completely unknown label getting a less radio friendly song to that.
Unfortunately was right about this one. While being a great song, "Jealous of Myself" could never find it's traction on radio. It did have a remix with Leann Rimes, though, which was a nice touch. Lainey Wilson: "Heart Like a Truck" goes #1 in late February, early March. Going to have to relisten to the record to decide what I think they'll go with next. I suspect she will continue to grow in popularity as more people discover her next year.
"Heart Like a Truck" went #1 in March, but like "What He Didn't Do," was restricted to a Mediabase only #1. "Watermelon Moonshine" was the next single, and climbed extremely fast, and became a multiweek #1. A third single "Wildflowers and Wild Horses" was recently released, and is currently climbing the chart. Megan Maroney: Tennessee Orange goes #1 in the fall with her debut album coming out around the same time. I really think she is going to be one of the next big women in the genre.
"Tennessee Orange" became Megan's first #1 hit, from the Lucky album. "I'm Not Pretty" was made the second single, and is currently climbing the chart.

Also starting by recapping my predictions for 2023. I'm gonna focus on Canadian country music scene, as I would assume other posters have more interesting predictions for the US artists. 2023 Prediction - Aaron Goodvin: After a slow climb, You Ain't become top 15 hit. He will release a lead single from the next era in the summer, and peaks around the end of the year. You Ain't is also sent to the US small market, and scrape the Music Row chart. - Nailed it! You Ain't was #15 hit, and he indeed released a lead single Country Dance in the summer and about to peak. Only thing is You Ain't did not really go to the US market.- Aaron Pritchett: Another release of a standalone single and barely get any adds. - not bad, He released Liquored Up, which did not get any adds, so I was not too wrong.- Alee: 24 fails to chart. - Indeed failed to chart with few adds.- Andrew Hyatt: Four Good Years become top 30 hit, and the new follow-up would be a duet with Danielle Ryan. - Not too wrong about the peak of Four Good Years, but no follow-up was released. - Brett Kissel: Watch It becomes a top 5 hit, but the follow up would struggle, being polarizing like Ain't The Same. New EP would be dropped in the summer. Watch It only peaked at #11, but the follow-up Never Have I Ever did okay. Quadruped album was not expected. - Dallas Smith: A follow-up to One Too will become a #1 hit, continuing his #1 streak for a solo single, and the new album will drop in the fall. - Singing In A Beer only peaked at #5 and lost the streak, but nailed about the timing of the album drop.- David James: Let Her Go scratches the bottom of the chart in the spring, but no other single release. - Let Her Go failed to chart with few adds, but right about no singles.- Dayna Reid: A debut single Back to The Trailer becomes a top 30 hit, and the follow-up would also have a similar chart run. One of the new figures in 2023. - Nailed about the fact that she would be releasing a single, but it was She's Me, and failed to become a top 30 hit, and no follow-up. Thought she would be a little more successful as a new Open Road artist.- Dean Brody: Wrong Guy becomes top 5 hit, and new album also drops in the fall. Have another tour with Dallas Smith. - No tour really, but nailed the peak of Wrong Guy and album timing. Did not expect the flop of Broke tho.- Don Amero: Release another rock-oriented single, but fail to out peak Let You. - Follow-up to Let You did not even chart.- Dustin Bird: Send a first radio single in Canada, and scrape the 30s. - Did not even happen, although he had some new releases. - Eric Ethridge: Drop a new single and come back to the chart, despite being a top 40 hit. - He was indeed back with Made In Mexico, but did not crack the top 40.- Five Roses: Will be dropped from MDM after the current single fails to chart. ;-Very wrong, two singles charted during the year, despite okay performance. - Gord Bamford: An uptempo lead single from the new era would drop in the spring and become top 20 hit. No new album. - Very wrong, Completely lost momentum and barely made it to the chart with One Heartbeat and Fire'd Up. Album was dropped.- High Valley: Release Way Back and Prayin Woman as their third and fourth single, and both would miss #1. Wrong, moved on to the new era.- Hunter Brothers: What Color You Drive flops, and another follow-up would be coming with a new EP, but also flops, stalling in the 40s. - Nailed it, What Color flopped, and the new single from the EP also flopped.- Jade Eagleson: The ballad follow-up to "Boots" will become a #1 hit. New album will drop in the fall. - Not bad, Rodeo Queen was not balled and did not become a #1 hit, but the album indeed dropped in fall.- James Barker Band: A new single drop in the early spring and score another #1. New album drops in the summer. - Not bad, Meet Your Mama failed to get to #1, but new EP indeed dropped, while it was in fall. Dalton Dover collab was not expected.- Jess Moskaluke: The uptempo follow-up to Knock Off would be a top 10 hit in the summer. - Not bad, Mid tempo Heartbreaker was close to the top 10 peak in the summer.- Jojo Mason: The third single Hung Over Alone would be released, but stall in the 20s. Lead single to the next era announced in the fall. - 0 News- Josh Ross: On A Different Night become a #1 hit, and the follow-up would also be a top 10 hit. A debut new album would be released, and he joins A-tier on the chart. - Not bad, he is an A-tier, while Different Night did not become #1. The follow-up Trouble was #1 instead. No album.- Kalsey Kulyk: Big Deal fails to chart, and the follow-up would also not collect enough adds. - Okay, Big Deal failed to chart, but Outlaw is doing well.- Lindsay Ell: Drop a ballad single in the summer and score top 10, but no move in the US. No new album. - Not bad, no album and no US release. however, Sweet Spot was released in spring as a mid tempo song and failed to crack top 30.- Nate Haller: Budweiser stalls in the 20s, and the follow-up would further flop in the 40s. - Nailed it! Budweiser indeed stalled in the 20s, and Take My Name is struggling on the 40s.- MacKenzie Porter: An uptempo follow-up to Pick Up scores another top 10 hit. Full album drops in the fall. - No album yet, but uptempo song Tornado was #3 hit.- Madeline Merlo: Slide is sent to the radio in the first quarter and become top 20 hit. The follow up would be I Need A Drink, released in the fall. Slide is also sent to the US radio in the summer, but fail to chart. - Slide was more successful than expected, but no US release or follow-up from the EP.- Matt Lang: A solo single will be released, and because of its catchy melody, it becomes as big of a hit as Getcha. - Wrong, 0 news.- Meghan Patrick: A new love song drops in the first quarter, but remain quiet for the rest, focusing on her new married life. - Greatest Show was indeed released in the 1st Q.- SACHA: Call It Country scratches the bottom of the chart, but no movement after. - Call It Country and Confident both flopped.- Steven Lee Olsen: Drop another 5 song EP, one of which is a radio single to become a top 20 hit in fall. - No EP, but Outta yours was a #5 hit, had a better year than expected.- Shantaia: Drop some singles and receive around 3 adds, failing to chart. - Not wrong, failed to chart indeed.- Tebey: After a slow climb, Sink With The Sun manage to become a top 20 hit. A follow-up would be R&B like, released with a new EP in the summer, becoming another slow hit, peaking in 2024. - Sink With The Sun was a top 20 hit, but no new move after.- Tenille Arts: Girl To Girl and Jealous of Myself become top 10 hit in Canada, but the latter would struggle in the US, stalling in the late 40s around fall. - GTG was successful in Canada, but Jealous surprisingly flopped also in Canada.- Tenille Townes: Continues to be one of the most successful women in Canadian country radio with top 5 of Last Time, and the follow-up is a catchy lead single from Silver Lining, dropping in May. - The follow-up with Bryan and Home To Me both flopped. Surprisingly weak year.- Tim Hicks: Talk To Time is the follow-up, and become a top 20 hit. The follow-up would be released in the fall, another uptempo rock track. - Nailed it! Talk To Time was indeed the follow-up and indeed the top 20 hit. And indeed the uptempo follow-up just sent to the radio.- Tim & The Glory Boys: The follow-up to Float is a ballad, but it flops in the spring, barely making it to the top 30. - Wrong, the collab with High Valley was super successful.- The Reklaws: Drop another summary poppy single in the spring and score a top 5 hit. No new album. - The follow-up was a ballad, followed by an uptempo collab, but indeed no album- Tyler Joe Miller: Never Met A Beer becomes the top 10 hit, and a follow-up would sound like something Riley Green would record, bringing him back to #1. New ep would drop in the fall. - Not bad! New EP indeed dropped in the late summer, and Never Met A Beer was indeed top 10 hit. And Back to Drinkin sounded like something Riley could release, but did not go to #1.No move for Dax, George Canyon, Emerson Drive, Kristin Carter, Maddision Kozack, Shawn Austin. - Wrong for Shawn Austin and Kristen Carter; the former released an EP and had a strong single, the latter finally came back and just released a pop single.
The biggest surprises were
- Flop of Tenille Townes and Lindsay Ell
- Comeback of Jason Blaine and Shania
- Griffen Palmer's radio debut
- Josh Ross's attempt in the US but no album

2023 Observations
Lainey Wilson has become the new queen of country music and continued to thrive.
Megan Moroney is the strong newcomer but yet still no rival for Lainey but could be a strong contender.
Country music has continued to become more country than the past few years and more popular.
Male dominance is still the characteristics of country music.
2024 Predictions
Carrie Underwood:Out of that Truck peaks at top 20 and there is no more single from D&R.No new country record as well.
Miranda Lambert:Fist single off the new album flops but the second single made to top 10.
Maren Morris:New album releases without any splash.
Kelsea Ballerini:First single off the new album struggles at country radio again, probably peaks at top 30 but the album is well received by critics.
Carly Pearce:New ablum is well received by critics but commercially flops. We Don't Fight Anymore peaks in top 10.And second single climbs slowly but eventually will make to the top 10.
Lainey Wilson:Wildflowers and Wild Horses peaks in the top 5 fast and fourth single is released soon and also peaks in the top 10 fast. There will be 2 more collaborative singles she's on that release as single that reach top 1.New single from new album releases in autumn and climbs fast too.She will continue to win Female Vocalist of the Year from ACM and CMA.
Gabby Barret:New album debuted at no.2 on country album chart and Glory Days peaks in top 10.Second single flops.Gets ignored by ACM and CMA.
Megan Moroney:I'm Not Pretty peaks in top 10 and a third single releases but stalls at 30-40.Drops a brand new single that becomes a streaming smash and get her first BB country airplay no.1 hit and hot 100 top 20 hit.
A new country female artist will emerge and get streaming numbers that could match wallen-combs-bryan

Random 2023 predictions: - There will be a black female country artist featured in one of the bigger country hits (Hot 100 year-end level). It won't be Mickey Guyton. - Turnpike Troubadour's comeback will have similar trajectory to Kendrick Lamar's comeback as in the massive hype is there but it died down quickly - Morgan Wallen will be engaged at least or even married - Chris Stapleton sweeps awards with his new music - Did not happen, although Tracy Chapman, a Black female artist, wrote the second biggest country hit of the year. Plus Hey Driver, featuring a Black husband-wife duo (The War and Treaty) is a somewhat huge streaming hit and is still charting on Hot 100 by its own. - Not too difficult to predict it correctly but still somewhat sad. Hope they will get Tiktok hits someday. - Nope, not happened. MW is still single to my knowledge. - Maybe song awards for White Horse, but his new album has weakest critic reviews so far. 2024 predictions: - Luke Combs will finally have a #1 on Hot 100 - Ashley McBryde has a Hot 100 year-end hit - Country summer dominance will happen again - Someone's career will implode

I can see Carrie releasing a lead single and maybe another song or two in 2024. Maybe a rock EP, but, not and album. Just something cool for fans. 🤷🏽♀️

Alright the time nobody was waiting for; here's my predictions.
Carrie Underwood: “Out of That Truck” climbs through spring of 2024, and peaks somewhere in the 10-20 range. Her duet with Cody Johnson is released next in late spring/early summer and is a smash, and will be a big frontrunner on the awards front. No new solo music from Carrie though.
Maren Morris: Maren is a bit of a slippery slope. The move to Columbia NY, but the recent statement that she’s staying in country kind of contradicts itself. Is her lead single being pushed to country or pop radio; it's all still a little confusing to me. Don’t come for me, but I’m just not too optimistic about her commercial prospects; being able to switch from country to pop is difficult to be successful (TS was a big outlier).. Am definitely curious to see how her next era pans out. I would love for her next era to be huge, I’m just not sure.
Kelsea Ballerini: Kelsea has a relatively quiet first part of the year, while she continues to work on new music. I’m really not sure what the timeline is for said music to come, but I’m kind of thinking a lead single to KB5 in March/April, could very well be sooner/later though. Don’t really think the album will come until 2025 though; if it is 2024 it’s going to be late 2024.
Miranda Lambert: I’m still not completely sure what her label situation is, (if she signed with Big Loud or if she is just being one of the labelheads of the Texas imprint) but given that she recently announced the final dates of her residency will be in the spring, I think that she will be going into her next era this year. Possibly lead single in the spring, with the album around CMA time.
Carly Pearce: “We Don’t Fight Anymore” peaks at #1 around April/May. Her album is released sometime in February/March, and kind of feels like a continuation of 29, but a little more playful. single #2 is more favored here, and is in the top 20 by the end of the year.
Pricilla Block: “Hey Jack” serves as a promotional single from her next album. The official lead single comes out sometime in late Q1. The song is a top 20 hit by the end of the year.
Gabby Barrett: “Glory Days” peaks within the top 10, but doesn’t go #1. The next single will move the needle a little more, and will be top 30 by the end of the year. I say that the song that Luke Combs co wrote will be single #2.
Lainey Wilson: “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” is a single week #1 sometime early summer. I would LOVE for a fourth single to be released, because I miss album eras that had multiple successful singles from them (especially from women, which is harder to come by), but I wouldn’t be surprised if she moves onto the next album. If it’s a fourth single, it will be top 10 by the end of the year. If it’s a lead single, it will already have went #1 by November, and will be onto the second single from the album.
Megan Moroney: “I’m Not Pretty” is a mediabase only #1, sometime around August. She said that her second album is pretty much done, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they move onto it next, but I’m really hoping they hold off and send “Traitor Joe” out as the third single first. Going to go out on a limb and say she wins best new artist at next year’s CMA’s.
Mickey Guyton: “Nothing Compares to You” fails to make the top 50 on mediabase/BB. She releases some type of EP in late spring.
Cody Johnson: “The Painter” becomes Cody’s second #1 hit around April/May. His duet with Carrie is released next as a single to Leather (Deluxe) and will be #1 around November.
Morgan Wallen: “Man Made a Bar” continues to climb and peaks around March. “Cowgirls” & “98 Braves” serve as his next duel release. I assume “Cowgirls” comes earlier in the year and climbs with “Man Made a Bar” and “98 Braves” comes out once “Man Made a Bar” peaks, correlating with baseball season this year. All singles reach #1.
Bailey Zimmerman: “Where it Ends” is a single week #1 in August/September. The lead single to his next album comes out late October and is a huge success, further expanding his star power. A few more new songs will come out before the end of the year, but the album won’t come until 2025.

I don't remember if I did predictions from last year, I don't think I did, so let's just start fresh with 2024 right around the corner. As such I am going to go in order of the artists in the Record Labels & Artists Rosters Thread, be warned this is a long ass post and this only covers Sony and UMG, the rest will come later this week.
Columbia Nashville
Dylan Marlowe- "Boys Back Home" is a steady climbing sleeper hit that becomes a solid Top 10 hit by year's end with an album out in October.
Elle King- Lead single for next country album is released in July with an August impact date, nearing Top 40 by the end of the year.
Faith Hill and Tennille Townes- Nothing new, but still on the label.
Kameron Marlowe- New music in September, Sony tries again with him radio wise by the end of the year.
Luke Combs- Big year of course. “Where The Wild Things Are” hits #1 by the end of February at the latest. The label releases “Joe" as the fourth and final single from the album by the end of Q1 and it hits #1 in August. New music debuted at the CMA Awards.
Megan Moroney- “I’m Not Pretty” peaks in the Top 10 but not Top 3 in the late spring. The label decides to go with “Lucky” to close out the album and it is in the Top 30 by the end of the year.
Mitchell Tenpenny- New song released in February, with a March impact date. However the single fails to gain much traction and misses the Top 30.
Old Dominion- “Can’t Break Up Now” makes it to #1 on Billboard in May. “I Should Have Married You” is the followup to that and is Top 15 at the end of the year.
RCA Nashville
Chris Young- “Young Love & Saturday Nights” makes the Top 10 on radio but not the Top 5 except on Mediabase.
Corey Kent- “Something’s Gonna Kill Me” spends the whole year climbing the chart and becomes a Mediabase #1 by November.
Kane Brown- “I Can Feel It” hits #1 on Billboard in March. New song released ahead of the ACMs and tops the radio chart in September and is a huge selling song.
Morgan Wade- New single at radio in October with a promising start by the end of the year.
Nate Smith- “World On Fire” spends a few weeks at #1 on both charts and is a huge recurrent for the year. The follow-up single is “Wreckage” which is also a big hit topping Billboard in September.
Pistol Annies- Nothing new from them.
Restless Road- “Last Rodeo” underperforms and only scrapes the Top 50.
RECORDS
Erin Kinsey and James Barker Band- Nothing
George Birge- After “Mind On You” becomes a Mediabase only #1, “Cowboy Songs” fails to make the Top 40.
Kimberly Perry- New music in April, with a May radio impact. Manages to squeak out a Top 50 peak but not much else.
Matt Stell- “Breakin’ In Boots” makes the Top 30 by the end of the year but is very low impact and is starting to stall out this time next year.
Monument Records
Tigirlily Gold- “I Tried A Ring On” fares better than “Shoot Tequila” and makes it to the Top 20 and is a surprise sleeper hit.
Walker Hayes- New radio single in Q1 that massively flops and doesn’t even make Top 40.
UMG Nashville
Capitol Nashville
Caylee Hammack, Hootie & The Blowfish, Hot Country Knights, Little Big Town- Nothing from any of them.
Carrie Underwood- “Out Of That Truck” goes until late May chart run wise, and becomes a Top 5 single but no #1. I am actually going to say the Cody Johnson duet is not released until 2025 and that after “Truck” Carrie Underwood is quiet for the rest of the year.
Darius Rucker- New single in August, only Top 50 by the end of the year.
Dierks Bentley- New lead single for the next album in July. Top 40 nearing the Top 30 by the end of the year.
Jon Pardi- “Cowboys & Plowboys” underperforms to a Top 20 peak in August, and no new album yet. New single in October that connects a lot more with radio.
Keith Urban- New lead single in February and is a Top 5 in November but falls short of #1 on Billboard at least. Album is in September.
Luke Bryan- New single in January, that actually sells and connects really well, totally eclipsing the Jon Pardi single as it hits #1 in August on both charts.
Mickey Guyton- EP silently released in June, nothing else.
EMI Nashville
Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley- Nothing.
Anne Wilson- “Rain In The Rearview” makes the Billboard Top 60 for a few weeks but goes nowhere. Nothing else from her.
Brothers Osborne- “Nobody’s Nobody” becomes a Mediabase only Top 10. Follow up single “We Ain’t Good At Breaking Up” with Miranda Lambert (despite her only being a backing vocalist on the song) is a huge hit and becomes their first Billboard #1 at the very end of the year.
Eric Church- After “Man Made A Bar” hits #1 in March. Eric Church releases a new single in April for the ACMs and it is polarizing with it stalling in the 20s by early September.
Jon Langston- New song in June released to radio. Fails to chart at all.
Kylie Morgan- New single in May for radio, and makes the Top 30 and is a sleeper hit.
Tyler Hubbard- “Back Then Right Now” is a Mediabase only #1. “A Lot With A Little” is the followup and is a softer hit than his last few singles.
MCA Nashville
Catie Offerman, George Strait, Josh Turner, Kip Moore, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Y’all Boyz- Nothing from a radio perspective.
Jordan Davis- “Tucson Too Late” hits #1 in April. New music in late July with it being a collaboration. Radio really likes the song and is Top 10 by the end of the year.
Kacey Musgraves- “I Remember Everything” peaks in the Top 20 making MCA Nashville try another radio single for Kacey Musgraves in June, the song barely charts unfortunately.
Kassi Ashton- New song at radio in March, unfortunately it performs more like “Dates In Pickup Trucks” and fails to gain much traction.
Parker McCollum- “Burn It Down” is #1 on Billboard in late March and it has huge recurrent airplay and also makes the year end Hot 100 for 2024. Followup is “Tails I Lose” which is Top 25 by the end of the year and is a huge seller.
Sam Hunt- “Outskirts” makes the Top 15 but stalls out before the Top 5. No followup for the rest of the year.
Mercury Nashville
Billy Currington, Boy Named Banjo, Luke Grimes, Sam Williams- Nothing from a radio perspective and the first is dropped from UMG altogether.
Chris Stapleton- “White Horse” makes it to #1 in February. The follow-up is “I Think I’m In Love With You” but that stalls in the 20s despite connecting well.
Dalton Dover- “Bury Me In This Bar” fails to make the Top 30 like his debut single. Nothing else from him.
Josh Ross- New single in Q1 fails to chart for the year.
Maddie & Tae- “Hearts They Didn’t Break” does manage to chart on the airplay chart, but doesn’t do much beyond that, leaving Maddie & Tae’s future up in the air.
Priscilla Block- “Hey Jack” is at first a promo single, but is sent to radio in March due to demand and is Top 10 at the end of the year.
The War and Treaty- Label tries with radio in August but radio doesn’t bite on the new music. They do win vocal duo at CMA Awards though.
Travis Denning- Label quietly releases his album by March, try for another single that doesn’t chart and he is let go of before the end of the year.
Stay tuned for later this week, where I will have my predictions on artists on Broken Bow, Big Loud, Big Machine, Warner Bros, and more.

2023 observation.
*Why is it that FGL’s emergence and smash hits a decade ago were collectively bashed, but todays mainstream music gets praised? It’s even worse. Artists like Ernest get painted as a 90’s country throwback because they dress cool, when they’re far closer to bro-country style.
2024 predictions.
*Eric Church, Cody Jinks and Sturgill Simpson save the genre with game changing albums
* Red Clay Strays and Paul Cauthen see big breakouts
* Zach Bryan releases another album of songs that all sound the same (shocker)

Also a fair amount of the really popular songs this year I liked ("Religiously", "Rock And A Hard Place", "Handle On You", "Thank God", "Fast Car", "I Remember Everything") were not bro country and were decently deep songs or for me, good music in general. That and country music arguably had its biggest year ever with around 30 songs making the year end all genre Hot 100. I also am, confused with this whole Ernest getting painted as a 90s throwback as I haven't seen that sentiment, outside of "Flower Shops" a couple years ago and him having a feature on Morgan Wallen's latest album he hasn't been that relevant in the mainstream country scope. Last of all, I am confused on why the genre needs saving? The country music genre is doing just fine, and has plenty of different styles of country music for someone and like I mentioned is arguably at its most popular.

I see so many commenting that about Ernest, Wallen, and HARDY; and while some do have some country stuff on their albums, some of their material is some of the most genre pushing I’ve heard.

Quality is subjective as one person can absolutely love Ernest and also not care for an artist like Turnpike Troubadors. I just will never get the notion of country music needed to be saved. But agree to disagree indeed.

“Out Of That Truck” will be a Mediabase #1
George Strait will get a decent size hit with his Chris Stapleton duet coming out.

Part 2 of my predictions.
Warner Bros
Chase Matthew- “Love You Again” takes off once hit the Top 30 in January as it hits #1 in June. The follow up single however completely flops.
Dan + Shay- “Save Me The Trouble” is a Mediabase only #1. Follow up single “We Should Get Married” makes the Top 10 but not the Top 5.
Gabby Barrett- “Glory Days” makes the Top 10 and is a Mediabase only Top 5 in April. “Growing Up Raising You” is the second single from the album and is Top 20 by the end of the year.
Zac Brown Band- New music in July, that is Top 30 at the end of the year. Also “Million Little Bandaids” manages to get a Top 50 peak as well.
Zach Bryan- “I Remember Everything” peaks in the Top 20 but doesn't quite make the Top 10. The followup single is “Hey Driver” with The War and Treaty as it peaks in the Top 40.
Bailey Zimmerman- “Where It Ends” takes a while to take off but takes off in March and manages to barely eek out both a Billboard #1 and Mediabase #1 for both charts. New single is uptempo love song performed at the CMA
Ian Munsick- “Long Live Cowgirls” fails to make the Top 40.
Ingrid Andress- New single in November with a promising add date and charted on Billboard before the end of 2024.
Kenny Chesney- “Take Her Home” is a Mediabase only #1 in August after a long climb,
Michael Ray- “Spirits and Demons” makes the Top 5 but falls short of #1 on both charts. New album in July.
Warren Zeiders- “Pretty Little Poison” hits #1 in March. “Sin So Sweet” is the followup and despite being very popular, radio callous is too polarizing dooming it for a Top 20 peak at the end of the year.
Ashley McBryde- “The Devil I Know” scrapes the Top 50 in June but not much beyond, ending the album cycle.
Avery Anna- Debut radio single in April and she is a huge breakout star in 2024 with radio,
Blake Shelton- New lead single in January, underperforms and only makes the Top 20.
Cody Johnson- “The Painter” is a #1 in March. Followup is “Dirt Cheap” and makes the Top 10 at the end of the year.
Cole Swindell- Lead single is released in February with a radio deal and while not as big as “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” it makes the year end Hot 100. Makes the Top 5 on radio but fails to make the #1 on Billboard.
Broken Bow
Chase Rice- Broken Bow tries one more single with him at country radio in May but it fails to make the Top 40.
Dustin Lynch- “Chevrolet” makes it to number one in July and is Dustin Lynch's second song to make the year end Hot 100.
Jason Aldean- “Let Your Boys Be Country” makes it to the Top 5 but it's only a Mediabase only #1.
Lainey Wilson- “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” makes it to the Top 5 in April, and makes it to #1 on both charts. New single from New album in July. Number one in November with the album in October.
Drake Milligan- New music in March. However the song will fail to make the Top 40 on country radio.
Frank Ray- New music in September with a December impact date with an underwhelming add date.
Jelly Roll- “Halfway To Hell” sells very well but radio callout limits it to a Top 15 peak during the year.
King Calaway- New music in June. Sent to radio in August but fails to chart,
Naomi Cooke Johnson- Goes on radio tour in May and has her debut solo single in September with an October add date. Charting by the end of the year.
Parmalee- “Gonna Love You” makes the Top 10 in July but settles for a MB only Top 5.
Chayce Beckham- “23” makes it to #1 in March. Follow up is Top 20 by the end of the year. Oh and I hope “23” is #23 on a year end chart.
Dylan Schneider- “Ain't Missing You” fails to chart and that's all from Dylan Schneider.
Huntergirl- “Ain't About You” has a marathon chart run to a Top 20 peak. Album is in August.
Kolby Cooper- New single is sent to radio in June but doesn't make it past charting on Billboard in November and that's it.
LoCash- Dropped by label.
Big Loud
Ashley Cooke- “You're Place” is a Billboard #1 in June, and the followup is Top 30 at the end of the year and Ashley Cooke is nominated for CMA New Artist.
ERNEST- Gets a #1 in the summer with “Cowgirls” with Morgan Wallen. However the label doesn't capitalize on the momentum.
Hailey Whitters- “I'm In Love” manages a Top 15 peak by October. New album is in August. Nominated again for CMA New Artist Of The Year and this time she wins. New single in December has a ton of hype too it.
HARDY- “Truck Bed” hits #1 in March, followup is “Red” with Morgan Wallen but that only makes the Top 20 peak wise.
Larry Fleet- ”Things I Take For Granted” spends the whole year laundering in the 50s and 40s before sneaking in a week in the Top 40 in November before being let go of.
Lauren Alaina- “Thick as Thieves” fails to make it back on the chart in the new year. Radio tries “Just Wanna Know That You Love Me” in the spring, and it spends the rest of the year climbing and is nearing the Top 40 at the end of the year,
Lauren Watkins- New music in May but no attempt at radio yet.
Lily Rose- New music in July with a radio push in October for said song, but said song doesn't even clear 10 adds on add week.
Mackenzie Porter- New music in March. Radio finally tries something with her in May, but the song doesn't do much.
Maggie Rose- New music in April. No radio push however despite connecting and streaming pretty well.
Morgan Wallen- “Man Made A Bar”, “Cowgirls”, and “98 Braves” all hit #1 for the year.
Big Machine
Brian Kelley- Follow-up to “See You Next Summer” is released in March and underperforms only barely scraping the Top 40 after the inflated debut.
Carly Pearce- “We Don't Fight Anymore” comes up short of #1 on Billboard but does make it on Mediabase. The follow up is her best selling single since “I Hope You're Happy Now” and is an uptempo song. Top 10 by the end of the year.
Garth Brooks- “Rodeo Man” fails to match its debut peak and fails to enter the Top 30.
Jackson Dean- “Fearless” limps to a Top 15 peak on both charts, new single in May that is Top 30 at the end of the year.
Midland- Dropped by the label.
Tim McGraw- “One Bad Habit” fails to make the Top 30 and starts to derail Tim McGraw’s radio momentum for good, unfortunately.
Aaron Lewis- New music in March. Radio rejects it outright and it doesn't chart.
Brantley Gilbert- Dropped from the label. Signs to Big Loud by the end of the year.
Conner Smith- “Creek Will Rise” is a Top 5 song but not a #1. Followup single however underperforms and fails to make the Top 30.
Eli Young Band & Mackenzie Carpenter- New music in 2024, but no radio attempt with either of them.
Thomas Rhett- “Mamaw's House” is a MB only #1. New song at ACMs that sells really well and makes the year end Hot 100.
Tiera Kennedy- New music in April. No radio attempt and she is dropped from the label before the end of the year.
Brett Young- “Dance With You” crawls to a Top 15 peak in the early fall.
Chris Janson- “All I Need Is You” hits #1 on Mediabase in February. Followup is in the Top 10 at the end of the year,
Greylan James- “Young Man” is a sleeper hit and makes the Top 10 in October as its peak.
Lady A- “Love You Back” hits #1 in August and connects really well after a great ACM performance that makes it to the year end Hot 100.
Riley Green- “Different Round Here” hits #1 but the followup fails to make the Top 40.
Shane Profitt- New music in May, radio impact in June, fails to make the Top 40 at the end of the year.
Black River
Kelsea Ballerini- New lead single in March. Album in September with the lead single being her first song to make the year end Hot 100.
MaRynn Taylor- New single from the EP in June, however it fails to chart on radio.
Pryor Baird- Label tries to break him with radio but he also fails to chart.
Curb
Dylan Scott- New music in January with a February impact date, however it fails to gain much traction and his success comes more from “Boys Back Home” with Dylan Marlowe.
Hannah Ellis- New single from her upcoming album in January impacting radio in early March. This single gets to both the Mediabase and Billboard Top 50.
Harper Grace and Tim Dugger- Nothing
Kelsey Hart- “Life With You” fails to chart or connect at all.
Lee Brice- New single in May. Top 30 at the end of the year. Album in October
Quartz Hill
Joe Nichols- “Brokenhearted” makes the Top 30 on both charts and charts on the Hot Country Songs chart for a week.
Nate Barnes- New single at radio in March. Charts and just lingers in the 50s for most of the year.
Runaway June- “Make Me Wanna Smoke” fails to make the Top 50 and is let go of by March.
Thompson Square- New music released in March. Label tries to push a new song in June but the song gets lost in the shuffle and it fails to chart.
Stone Country
Annie Bosko- “Neon Baby” finally charts in March and spends most of the year slowly climbing to a Top 40 peak.
Easton Corbin- New radio single in February but performs similarly to his last couple of songs.
Red Street
Chris Lane- “Find Another Bar” slowly gains more and more traction and spends most of the year charting before making it to the Top 25 near the end of the year.
Neon Union- “This Side Of The Dirt” becomes their first Top 40 single
Riser House
Dillon Carmichael- “Drinking Problems” becomes the labels first Top 10 single, but it falls short of #1 on both charts.
LANco- New album in July with a new single in August that's charting on Billboard Country Airplay by end of the year,
Meghan Patrick- “After “Spirits and Demons” hits Top 5 in the summer. Label tries new music with her in October but it will underperform in its add date.
Triple Tigers
Russell Dickerson- New radio single in February. Doesn't connect well but tests well and hits the Top 5 at the end of the year,
Scotty McCreery- “Cab In A Solo” is a Mediabase only #1. No new album and the followup struggles on the radio chart later on due to hardly any buzz.

Regarding Ashley Cooke, didn't she just drop a 24-song album last September? A new album in May would be too early imo.

Same as last year, some predictions for Canadian artists.

Alli Walker - Finally makes a debut on the radio with a standalone single, and join Sakamoto Agency. Emily Reid - Some new music drops in the spring, but no radio move. Griffen Palmer - Heart Of Ex peaks at #20 in the late winter, but no move afterwards. Standalone release of a duet with Madison Kozak, but no radio single. Hailey Benedict - Another standalone single is released, but have a similar chart run to Damn You July. High Valley - A follow-up to Small Town Somethin peaks around top 5 in the summer, and an EP drops around the same time. Hunter Brother - A lead single from the next EP drops in the early spring, which again peaks at #45. EP drops with another single, once again peaks around #45. Jade Eagleson - The follow-up is Telluride, which becomes a massive #1 hit in the early summer. Do It Anyway is the follow-up, which peaks at #3 around the YE. Josh Ross - Ain't Doing Jack misses #1, but still goes to the top 5. An album is announced to be dropped in the summer. Unreleased midtempo song follows up to become #5 hit again. No move in the US. Kalsey Kulyk - No move after Outlaw drops out. Kristin Carter - A debut album drops in the spring, but due to its pop sounding tracks, no country radio move. MacKenzie Porter - Bet You Break My Heart becomes a top 10 hit. An album drops in the spring, and summary poppy singles peaks at #1 in fall. The same song is sent to the US radio but only peaks around the late 40s. Madeline Merlo - Tim + Faith peaks around #15, and an EP is released in the early summer. Meghan Patrick - Spirits And Demons peaks at #15 in Canada, and after its peak, a standalone single is released around the late summer, and start charting in fall. Tenille Townes - A comeback single is released in the late winter and becomes a top 5 hit. Another single is released around September. No album/No US move. The Washboard Union - Gather Round becomes a top 15 hit and EP is released at the same time as the release of the follow-up, which peaks again around #15. Tim Hicks - Yee To The Haw peaks at #25, and Hometown Heat is the follow up released in the early summer to peak around #15. Tim & Glory - A lead single from the next era drops in the spring and peaks around #15, followed by another single but no album. Tyler Joe Miller - Better Than Nothing is the follow-up to bring Carolyn Dawn back to the chart, but only peaks around #20 in the early summer. This is followed by another uptempo song from the album, either Let Her Get Away or That's Her, which brings him back to the top 10 close to the end of the year.
No move from Gord Bamford, Tenille Arts, Tebey, Lindsay Ell, Terri Clark, Sykamore, Dustin Bird, Lemon Cash, Jojo Mason, Eric Ethridge, and Emerson Drive.
US Move would be - Owen Riegling sending a US debut single, Old Dirt Road with little impact. - MacKenzie Porter sending another US radio single in the summer with little impact.
