What hot songs missed the Year-End charts because they were caught in between two chart years?

"The One I Love" by R.E.M. It peaked too late in 1987 to make the year-end chart, but I guess it dropped off too soon to make the next year's countdown. It's a shame too, because this song deserves more of a legacy. I give this one credit for starting Alternative Rock.
As far as "Misery Business" goes, it actually did carry over into 2008 and was able to make 2008's year-end chart. At least according to most accounts.

I think “Misery Business” ended somewhere between 101-108 on both ‘07 & ‘08 years end list…….

I'm not sure about Billboard though.
