They played a drop of Enya's song "Boadicea," which was sampled in "Ready or Not" by The Fugees, "I Don't Wanna Know" by Mario Winans and in "Creepin'."

I haven't listened to the yearend yet as I will do so tomorrow, but for some reason on the American Top 40 website, this chart had been posted for the December 16th countdown, even though that one should've had the final regular survey included. Not only that, but it also happened to the Hot AC one too.

Wasn't "Die For You" #1 for two weeks?
And "Paint the Town Red" probably should be listed as eight weeks at #1 given the two "frozen" holiday weeks, though those last two weeks arguably aren't merited. Going by Mediabase, "Greedy" would probably be #1 this and almost certainly next week if AT40 were doing regular countdowns.

As an aside, I wish AT40 would post what the countdown would look like while the 2 weeks of the year-end countdown is being aired. They could post it on their website.

I loved how in the lead up to Optional Extra #1: Padam Padam, they played Kylie Minogue's top hit from the 1980's [she skipped the 1990s] and the top hit from the 2000s [she didn't chart in the 2010s]. It was a great segment.

"Popular" didn't finish top 50 for the year? Must not be far off; it was 48 on Billboard's year-end chart, which, I think, covers a slightly different period than the Mediabase chart.

"Flowers" by Miley Cyrus took only 5 weeks to become this year's fastest to hit #1 The highest debut of the year going to "Dance The NIght" by Dua LIpa and "Better Place" by *NSYNC, both debuted at #15 .. The largest riser of 2023 belongs to "Kill Bill" by Doja Cat as she moves up 19. All of these stats were mentioned on this weekend's show, although Ryan clarified that "Kill Bill" was the fastest riser of the decade.

Dua Lipa also has two yearend number 1's, New Rules and Levitating Ryan, specifically, mentioned that The Weeknd is the second MALE artist to have two year-end number ones. Elvis Presley did it in 1956 with "Heartbreak Hotel" and 1957 with "All Shook Up" (using Billboard stats, of course, since R&R didn't yet exist). The Weekend topped the 2020 year-end chart with "Blinding Lights" and is on top, this year.

Incredible that Die for you by The Weeknd outlasted calm down by rema featuring Selena Gomez for number 1 of 2023. 40 weeks and counting in the Top 10 of AT40 is unheard of and will never be done again.
