It has since come out that Justin is in fact that one that had an affair, and he concocted the narrative that launched his solo career. Thatās a short synopsis. No, it hasn't. It has come out that both Britney and Justin cheated while in a relationship with each other.

That narrative prevailed for decades until Britney finally broke her silence and spilled the truth. Thereās a reason Justinās lawyers were desperately trying to block the publication of her book.

Even if everything played out exactly as you described here (which none of us can really know for sure since we weren't there and it's ultimately he said/she said like most celeb breakups)... all this stuff you're still worked up over happened over 20 years ago. Over half the lifetimes of both Britney and JT have passed since their breakup, which happened when they were barely out of their teens. I guarantee her fans care WAY more about this stuff nowadays than she does, and they both seem to have moved on long ago. I'm willing to bet most people made some dumb relationship choices at times when they were 19/20 years old, but most of them aren't in the public spotlight and don't have their dumb decisions immortalized by the paparazzi. Such a dumb thing to still be hung up on in my personal opinion, but you do you!

i'm surprised there's (almost) no one here dragging him for how his vocals sound in that live snippet bc WOOF
song doesn't sound very interesting either but we'll see. i think it'll take a minor miracle for him to get an actual hit tho

Though if you heard any of the press around Britneyās memoir, it doesnāt sound like sheās all over it (or the abortion he pressured her to get).

Donāt get me wrong he makes good music and has bops but Whoās checking for a Justin Timberlake song in 2024? probably 1000's and 1000's of people, actually, if not more. Just because the fickle gay audience wants to cancel him doesn't mean anybody else cares about all that stuff. If the music is good he'll be fine. Has to be good tho, not even average will do.

Can you tell me how his last couple of songs did? Streams,Airplay and Sales. I would love to see it. Edit: Iām talking about within the last 5 to 6 years. Not a decade ago ā¦. Seriously, why are we discussing things we don't know about? The forum stans and is obsessed with Britney and Janet and male pop stars are always looked bad upon. Who is to say Britney didnt lie? Or Janet? Or anything else? we are not part of it. We will never know the "truth" all that matters is the MUSIC. Everything else is irrelevant. especially discussing something from literally decades ago.

Itās only about āthe musicā for Justin but his past actions caused so much hate and ridicule on both Britney and Janet. It wasnāt just about āthe musicā for them when they were being publicly chastised and slut-shamed for things totally out of their control. Justin reeks of straight white male privilege and deserves to be treated the same way Chris Brown was treated for his indiscretions. Itās sad that so many people could so easily look the other way and support someone who has clearly wronged and used so many people for his personal gain.

Itās a little slow for me personally, but I think this fits in perfectly fine in todayās pop landscape. This could do extremely well. If this doesnāt do well on Pop, I imagine it will do great on HAC and AC with the right push.

After watching the live performance, I hope the final studio version has the horns/harmonies, etc. And of course it doesn't, lol. The production is a major issue on this, pretty much the same droning pre-programmed drum beat with no variety or sense of release. Based on the live version, this would have been elevated with some real instruments and more layering. As is though, it's pleasant. The chorus, post-chorus and bridge are nice. I'm curious how radio is going to react. I think going with something more simple/low-key was a smart move. But this may be too simple/low-key.

It's a nice song. I think it'll do very well at radio but struggle at streaming.

I don't get the sudden hype.. that beat sounds tired. It sounds like a 2009 Stargate reject. Some of us olds are nostalgic for that time period LOL. One of my first thoughts after I listened to the full version was that Chris Brown released this in 2008 as the followup to Forever, it would have been a huge hit. I do really like this though, especially the second verse. I agree that the production could have used more, but it has a warmth that may have been lost.

I like it! Perfectly pleasant. I actually enjoy listening to it, which is more than I can say about anything on his last album.

Sounds about two decades old with production I feel pop shouldāve evolved from. Pretty mid, but ay, thatās enough to forgive him for two decades of playing the victim. /s

It's a nice song. I think it'll do very well at radio but struggle at streaming. Yeah, heās been a total non-factor in the streaming era. His last hit was mid-2016, and it was a traditional radio and sales-fueled single. Heās had nothing since then. Not even a hit feature that streamed well.

KIIS premiered it to kick off the 6am hour. I wonder if this will get premiere treatment today and tomorrow.. the Thursday mid-morning drop is kind of odd. I guess this means Australia and NZ stations get to premiere it on an actual Friday like a lot of the world is already used to for new music that typically drops 12am ET Fri?

This song is so forgettable - it definitely sounds more like an album track than a comeback single.
Lyrically kinda reminds me of Nick Jonasās āJealousā and a bunch of other songs. Very generic with no interesting melody/production to make up.
Honestly I liked āBetter Placeā more on first listens.

I like this, itās smooth. I could care less if it sounds dated because I donāt listen to the radio anymore and just listen to stuff I like. Besides it doesnāt sound like a Wanna be dance track from the Pitbull era.. lol However there was another track he previewed at his concert and it sounded like a total bop. I was hoping he was doing a double releaseā¦
