This song is so...dreamy. Biggest issue is the production because yes, I agree, it's lazy, but overall, one of my favorite singles from Justin. From the bridge on, I feel like I am floating on a cloud. The reverb, the harmonies, it all just comes together nicely. On a side note, the Asteroid City theme of the album photography is intriguing. I'll probably grab that deluxe vinyl bundle from his site.

It may not set the world on fire but after the under performance of Man of the Woods I think this is a good "reintroduction" to JT. It doesn't sound far removed from his earlier (and best IMO) music, and sounds like it could easily be an NSync song as well - I'm in.

I expected him to play it safe but this is pretty generic and a far cry from his "best work" as he's already proclaiming. I'm expecting the album to have more interesting material but things are off to an underwhelming start for me.

Seriously, why are we discussing things we don't know about? The forum stans and is obsessed with Britney and Janet and male pop stars are always looked bad upon. Who is to say Britney didnt lie? Or Janet? Or anything else? we are not part of it. We will never know the "truth" all that matters is the MUSIC. Everything else is irrelevant. especially discussing something from literally decades ago. Tell me, do you listen to R. Kelly? First, those are drastically different situations. What R. Kelly did (or was claimed to have done) was illegal. What Justin did, or was claimed to have done - may have been shitty or whatever but not illegal. But, no, I mostly do not listen to R. Kelly because it rubs me the wrong way for what he did. However, I don't turn his music off if it happened to come on. But you cannot be serious in trying to compare R. Kelly to Justin Timberlake. Give me a break LOL.

You're never going to win this fight, so I advise you to just let it go.

It’s fine, nothing special but radio will probably give it a chance.

It's okay but was hoping for something a little more upbeat.

I know there are no convincing some here, that's fine - it doesn't bother me lol I just listen to songs that I like that are good ultimately. Someone's personal life (within limits and reason) is something I can completely separate if needed. It is a case by case basis anyway for me.
On another note, I do hope this song does well. I haven't heard it in full yet but everything I have heard sounds good to me. so we will see how this all plays out

NO, it's not just about the music at least for me. I can't love and support a male singer who shamelessly and publicly was bragging about taking Britney's virginity and laughing about it and her mental health. Not to mention the Janet incident which basically launched his career and skyrocketed it to stardom!!!!
As for the song it's not bad but i don't think it will do anything major especially streaming wise

I can’t imagine being hung up on strangers drama when they were essentially kids and now in their 40’s. especially when there’s dirt on both parties hands. If you’re hung up on decades old stuff sounds like that’s a you problem and he shouldn’t concern himself with the musings of a fanbase that has shown themselves to clearly be unstable.
Anyway, loved everything about the song and video. Good job!

Sounds like “a bad thing” production wise and I’m not mad at it. It’s just safe imo nothing like “suit n tie” but very ready to hear other releases.

meh, this is just fine, I hate when a song doesn't get me any reaction, Filthy was...interesting, at least.
Since Mirrors, I only cared about Say Something, and maybe TKO.

I have worn this song out today, I tell you. I am a happy fan right now. Also, I forgot how old and beat-up he looked during the MOTW era. He looks like he is entering his daddy era finally in the video for this. I literally could draw ZERO connection from the song to video, but I enjoyed watching him?

After watching the live performance, I hope the final studio version has the horns/harmonies, etc. And of course it doesn't, lol. The production is a major issue on this, pretty much the same droning pre-programmed drum beat with no variety or sense of release. Based on the live version, this would have been elevated with some real instruments and more layering. As is though, it's pleasant. The chorus, post-chorus and bridge are nice. I'm curious how radio is going to react. I think going with something more simple/low-key was a smart move. But this may be too simple/low-key. You should be a music critic! You are spot on with your reviews of songs.

This reminds me of a song Jesse McCartney would've recorded during the "In Techincolor" sessions.

Love it. That’s all. Even if it doesn’t smash, it’s a nice addition to his catalog.

Decent track to start off the era!
My favorite part is the post-chorus:
Put you in a frame, ooh, baby, who could blame you? Glad your mama made you Makin' mе insane, you cannot be explainеd, ooh You must be an angel

It’s only about “the music” for Justin but his past actions caused so much hate and ridicule on both Britney and Janet. It wasn’t just about “the music” for them when they were being publicly chastised and slut-shamed for things totally out of their control. Justin reeks of straight white male privilege and deserves to be treated the same way Chris Brown was treated for his indiscretions. It’s sad that so many people could so easily look the other way and support someone who has clearly wronged and used so many people for his personal gain. until the end of time tho? Like can the man not try to live his life a little? I think it's very clear he does not think he's up there with current male stars like Harry Styles or Justin Bieber. Is he not allowed to make music anymore? Is he not allowed to hold any job at all? like omg

Those bombastic lead singles from previous big stars never tend to last very long. This is subtle, lowkey, and it might be the radio filler that he needs.
